The Ireland batting order took full advantage of the batting conditions and went on to register their highest-ever Test score of 492 against Sri Lanka on day 2 of the 2nd test on Tuesday.

Starting their qualifier game against Ireland in a do-or-die situation, the Windies have failed to qualify for the Super 12 of the T20 World Cup 2022 after losing by 9 wickets.

Yet another upset in the T20 World Cup 2022 as 2-time T20 champions West Indies have failed to qualify for the marquee tournament.
The Windies faced Group B side Ireland in their 3rd match of the qualifiers. All four teams in the group, which also includes Scotland and Zimbabwe, headed into their respective games in a do-or-die situation with one win and one loss each.
After winning the toss and deciding to bat first, West Indies failed to make a mark in the first innings after losing their first two wickets in the powerplay itself.
After seeing themselves at 99 runs for the loss of 4 wickets after 14 overs, it was Brandon King's 62 off 48 balls that helped the side put up a below-par total of 146 on the scoreboard.
Ireland came out in the second innings with victory in their minds and started off with opener Paul Stirling (66) turning his form around and playing an essential knock in the chase.
After losing opener Balbirnie in the 8th over, Lorcan Tucker (45) joined Stirling in producing a sensational 9-wicket victory for Ireland which put them into the T20 World Cup Super 12 for the 2nd time.

Deepak Hooda was the star in the second T20I match against Ireland as his exemplary maiden century helped India to register a massive 225 runs against Ireland in the final match of two T20I match series. Hooda revealed what kept him motivated in the game. 
The Indian batter played an amazing innings scoring 104 runs off 57 balls against Ireland and was named player of the match and also the player of the series. India won the match by 4 runs and also the series by 2-0. 
In the post-match conference, Hooda said that being a cricketer, one should not think too far ahead. "If my work ethic is good, I'm going to be in a good space of mind and I'm going to score, that's my thinking," said Hooda. 
Talking about his inclusion in team India, he said that it's difficult to find a spot in the Indian team but at the same time when he was playing in Indian colours, he never thought about himself, he thought about his team.

Having won the match against Ireland by 6 wickets, Hardik Pandya successfully cleared the test to win his first ever T20I match as a India captain. Although India won under Hardik's leadership, a few fans seemed unhappy with some of Hardik's decisions in the game.
Fans used Twitter to troll Hardik over his decision to give debutant Umran Malik just one over. Umran Malik came to bowl in the 6th over conceding 12 runs in his one over spell and didn't bowl since then. 
Anand Srinivasan wrote on Twitter, "Very shameless captaincy by Hardik Pandey in Ind vs Ireland. He never knew how to use his bowlers effective. Umran Malik should have been given additional overs. He should work with NZ captain, who has better idea."
Comparing Hardik and Umran, Pankaj Priyadarshini wrote, "Umran Malik was given just one over in 12 overs match, in which he gave 14 runs. Captain Hardik Pandya himself bowled 2 overs and gave 26 runs. Umran should have given one more over."
Paritosh Kumar also looked unhappy with Hardik bowling 2 overs and said, "Umran Malik should have bowled 1 more over and Hardik Pandya shouldn't have bowled his 2nd over. One over don't decide how bad/good a bowler is."
While the first game of the two T20Is against Ireland was the first T20I for Hardik as the India captain, Umran Malik played his first ever match for India. India leads the series by 1-0.

Hardik Pandya has been enjoying an amazing career as he recently led Gujarat Titans to win their maiden IPL trophy, made his India comeback against South Africa this month and he was also made the India captain for Irish tour starting on June 26. 'I don't want to show anything to anybody' - Hardik Pandya on India captaincy debut

Hardik Pandya revealed how he's taken inspiration from two of his former captains - MS Dhoni &amp; Virat Kohli.

Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya has had an upturn in fortunes in the past few months.
Only last month, he led the Gujarat Titans to their maiden IPL title in his debut season as captain. And now, he&rsquo;s going to captain India in the 2-match T20I series against Ireland.
Speaking to the press ahead of the first game in Dublin, Hardik said that he has learned a lot from former captains MS Dhoni &amp; Virat Kohli.
Highlighting how the two icons have been an inspiration for him., Hardik stated: &ldquo;My understanding of the game is different but I have taken a lot of good vibes from them.&rdquo;
Talking about his captaincy stint with Team India, Pandya said, &ldquo;Responsibilities have made me a better cricketer. It's such a big thing to lead India but I don't play the sport to show anything to anybody&rdquo;&nbsp;
Hardik will be hoping to stamp his authority when he takes the field against Ireland, aiming for a sweep against Andrew Balbirnie&rsquo;s men.
The Gujarat Titans skipper was the highest run-scorer for his team in this year's IPL with 487 runs. He also took 8 wickets during the tournament.

Rishabh Pant, who captained India during the South Africa series, is not part of the Indian squad for the Ireland tour. Hardik Pandya will lead Team India during the two T20Is while Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been named his deputy. Pandya will be India's 6th captain in eight months.
With Pant and Shreyas Iyer in England for the rescheduled fifth test, Rahul Tripathi and Sanju Samson have been included in the squad while the bowling department remains the same as the South Africa series. Meanwhile, Suryakumar Yadav is making a comeback to the squad after an injury break.

During the South Africa series, Team India stuck with the same Playing XI in all the five-matches and pace sensation Umran Malik and death-over specialist Arshdeep Singh did not get a chance to play. Smith further added that the 28-year-old allrounder will bring the leadership element and his good decision-making element to the WC. Pandya will contribute as a sixth bowler in the tournament, said the former Proteas player.
Pandya will lead India against Ireland in two T20I matches starting on June 26th.

Laxman will be filling in Rahul Dravid given the latter would be with India's Test squad for the rescheduled fifth Test from last year and the limited-over series against England.
India's selection committee is likely to announce a separate squad for the South Africa home series and Ireland T20Is on May 22.
Meanwhile, the Indian Test squad is likely to leave for England on June 15.
Last year, the same type of arrangement was made, when Shikhar Dhawan led the Indian side for the limited-overs game against Sri Lanka with Rahul Dravid as head coach. While Virat Kohli-led side was in England for the ICC World Test Championship final with Ravi Shastri as head coach.
