<p>Surendra Patil, an Instagram influencer, and his driver are accused of raping a woman under a false job promise at Mumbai airport. Patil allegedly threatened her with a gun, sought to release compromising media, and misused social media.</p>

<p>In a disturbing incident, a case has been registered by the police against an Instagram influencer and his driver for allegedly raping a 19-year-old woman from Nashik, under the pretext of offering her a job at Mumbai's international airport.</p>
<p>The incident allegedly occurred between February 16 and March 29, according to an official statement made on Wednesday.</p>
<p>The primary accused, Surendra Patil, a resident of Thakurli near Dombivli, is known for his social media presence through short videos on Instagram.</p>
<p>The victim, in her complaint at the Manpada police station, accused Patil of sexual assault, threats, and intimidation.</p>
<p>According to the FIR, the woman became acquainted with Patil via Instagram. She claims that Patil invited her to his office, where he allegedly assaulted her at gunpoint and threatened to harm her parents if she did not comply.</p>
<p>On March 29, Patil reportedly threatened to release incriminating audio and video recordings of her on social media, attempted to molest her when she resisted entry into his office, and subjected her to additional abuse with his driver.</p>
<p>The authorities have charged Patil and his driver under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including section 64 (rape), section 74 (assault or use of criminal force to outrage a woman's modesty), section 115 (2) (causing hurt), section 351(2) (criminal conspiracy), and section 3(5) (common intention), along with relevant sections of the Arms Act.</p>
<p>Patil, however, refuted the claims, labeling them as false and an attempt to extort money from him.</p>
<p>He is also currently under scrutiny for allegedly misusing a licensed firearm, filming videos while seated in a senior police officer's chair at the Manpada police station, and showcasing substantial amounts of cash in his online content, according to police sources.&nbsp;</p>
<p>The case shines a spotlight on the broader issues of online deception and the misuse of social media platforms for criminal activities.</p>

<p>The incident unfolded at the Humnabad Ring Road, where two men, identified as Saibanna and Sachin, attempted to film a staged murder scene using a blunt object and red liquid resembling blood.</p>
<p>The realistic portrayal led local residents to believe a real crime was taking place.</p>
<p>According to police reports, Saibanna was seen straddling Sachin, simulating an attack with the blunt object, while Sachin lay on the ground, the scenery made more grisly by the fake blood that covered both men.</p>
<p>Unaware of the duo's intentions to create content for social media, alarmed local residents contacted authorities, resulting in a response from the Kalaburagi Sub-Urban Police.</p>
<p>A video of the staged incident quickly spread online, exacerbating the situation and drawing swift police intervention. Both Saibanna and Sachin were taken into custody and are currently being interrogated.</p>
<p>"The actions of Saibanna and Sachin caused significant panic among the public," a police official stated.</p>
<p>"Investigations are underway to understand their motives and to prevent such incidents in the future."</p>
<p>The incident has highlighted the potential dangers and unintended consequences of creating dramatic content for social media platforms without proper context or communication with the local community.</p>

<p>Torres, known for her glamorous lifestyle and association with Hollywood elites like Leonardo DiCaprio, used her social media fame to lure followers into a web of manipulation and abuse. Promising spiritual guidance and life transformation, Torres convinced several women to join her, offering them opportunities that quickly turned into nightmares.</p>
<p>One victim, identified only as Ana, shared her ordeal with BBC, revealing that she moved to New York to work as Torres' live-in assistant, caring for her pets and maintaining her home. However, Ana described deplorable living conditions&mdash;sleeping on a couch covered in cat urine and being deprived of proper rest while catering to Torres' demands without pay.</p>

<p>The investigation revealed that Torres imposed financial quotas on her victims, pressuring them into prostitution if they failed to meet her demands. These women were also allegedly subjected to rituals described as "witchcraft" by Torres, highlighting the extent of psychological control she exercised over them.</p>
<p>Torres' downfall came after concerned friends and family launched social media campaigns to find Desir&ecirc; and Let&iacute;cia, who had been reported missing. The ensuing FBI investigation exposed Torres' operation, leading to her arrest and the rescue of multiple women from her grip.</p>
<p>In her defense, Torres denied all accusations of coercion, claiming her activities were misunderstood. Despite her assertions, over twenty women have come forward with similar stories of exploitation and abuse, and are undergoing psychiatric treatment.</p>

<p>In a bid to curb the menace of fake loan apps and protect users from falling victim to online fraud, the government is reportedly considering measures to restrict the advertising of such apps on popular social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram. According to a recent report by India Express, the government is actively working on amending the existing Information Technology Rules to prevent intermediaries like Facebook and Instagram from hosting advertisements of fraudulent loan apps.</p>
<p>Minister of State for Electronics and IT, Rajeev Chandrasekhar, asserted that the proposed changes would strip legal immunity from platforms allowing the promotion of fake loan apps. This move aims to force these companies to conduct thorough due diligence before permitting any advertisements on their platforms, particularly those related to financial services.</p>
<p>The prevalent issue involves fake loan apps enticing users with attractive offers, only to later impose exorbitant interest rates and concealed charges upon approval. These apps, which often exploit sensitive user information, have been a growing concern for regulators. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has reportedly collaborated with the IT Ministry to address the problem, with recent efforts intensified to find a solution.</p>
<p>In a positive development, RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das announced the sharing of a whitelist of legitimate lending apps with the Indian government. This initiative is expected to bolster the ongoing efforts against illegal loan apps. A senior IT Ministry official stated that the RBI's updated list includes loan apps used by registered entities such as banks and NBFCs, reinforcing the authorities' commitment to taking appropriate action against fraudulent practices.</p>

<p>A 25-year-old woman from Uttar Pradesh's Seohara allegedly died by suicide following a dispute with her husband over posting reels on Instagram.</p>
<p>Station House Officer (SHO) Dheeraj Singh Solanki said that Rinku Saini's wife Neelam (25) consumed a poisonous substance on Friday in the Ramkheda village.</p>
<p>Neelam liked making and posting reels on the social media platform but her husband did not approve of it. On Friday, the couple had an argument over Neelam's latest reel, after which she is believed to have consumed poison, the police said.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Neelam's body has been sent for postmortem and police are investigating the incident.&nbsp;</p>
