A 40-year-old IndiGo pilot who was going to operate the airline's Nagpur-Pune flight died after collapsing near a boarding gate at the Nagpur airport on Thursday, officials said.
Captain Manoj Subramanyam (40) fell unconscious in the security hold area of the airport around 12 noon, they said.
Prima facie, he died of "cardiac arrest following the sudden unexpected loss of heart function", said KIMS-Kingsway Hospital where he was rushed.
Aejaz Shami, spokesperson of the hospital, said their emergency team administered him CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) but he did not respond.
Subramanyam was declared brought dead at the hospital.
In a statement, IndiGo said, "We are saddened at the passing of one of our pilots in Nagpur earlier today. He took unwell at Nagpur airport and was rushed to the hospital where he unfortunately passed away. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones."&nbsp;

ICICI Securities said IndiGo&rsquo;s consistent approach to aircraft management has given it rich dividend by continuously being able to sustain cycles in terms of lowest cost structure and cash accretion. It maintained a 'Buy' rating on the stock with an unchanged target price of Rs 3,000, based on 25 times FY25E EPS of Rs 120.
Meanwhile, Citigroup has raised its target price on the stock to Rs 2900 from Rs 2400 earlier.
Speaking on IndiGo Airlines' mega deal, Civil Aviation Minister JyotiradityaScindia said family aircraft "India has set another landmark with this largest-ever recorded order by a carrier with any aircraft manufacturer in the world...''
He further added that every dollar invested in civil aviation yields $3.1 in terms of new growth, as well as the employment multiplier. Every direct job in civil aviation results in 6.1 indirect jobs in the sector. And therefore, there are tremendous dividends that accrue from the ever-expanding civil aviation sector,".&nbsp;
With this additional firm order of 500 aircraft for 2030-2035, IndiGo&rsquo;s order-book has almost 1,000 aircraft yet to be delivered well into the next decade. This IndiGo order-book comprises a mix of A320NEO, A321NEO and A321XLR aircraft.

Shares of Indigo fell nearly 3% on the back of reports that the Gangwal family is likely to sell stake in the airline.&nbsp; The family of IndiGo co-founder Rakesh Gangwal is likely to sell between 5% - 8% of its shares in InterGlobe Aviation, the parent company of the Indian airline, for up to ₹7,500 crore, according to CNBC Awaaz.&nbsp; As of March 31, Rakesh Gangwal and his wife Shobha Gangwal owned 13.23% and 2.99% of InterGlobe, respectively, while their Chinkerpoo Family Trust owned a 13.5% share in the company.
When the lock-in for shares opens on July 15, the Gangwal family would probably sell stakes in block deals, according to the CNBC Awaaz article.
In February, Shobha Gangwal decreased her ownership of the company by more than 4%.
Why is the family reducing the stakes in IndiGo?
Rakesh Gangwal left the company's board in February 2022 and promised to reduce his ownership of the airline over a five-year period.

Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia on Wednesday said BJP MP Tejasvi Surya himself reported and apologised for the incident where he accidentally opened the emergency exit of an IndiGo plane last month.
The minister's remarks come against the backdrop of Surya, the ruling BJP's Bengaluru South MP, facing flak from Congress over the incident, which happened on December 10 last year at Chennai airport.
On Tuesday, IndiGo said a passenger accidentally opened the emergency exit of the plane after boarding at Chennai airport but did not disclose the identity of the person.
When asked about the incident, Scindia said it had happened on the ground.
"When the incident happened, Tejasvi Surya ji himself reported that incident, based on which the full protocol was followed as DGCA itself has investigated and enunciated. The full protocol was followed and pressurisation was checked, all the other checks were in place and only then (did) the aircraft take off. I think he himself apologised...
"The person concerned, Tejasvi Surya himself reported to the crew and the pilot following which all the protocols were followed and only then was the aircraft allowed to take off," the minister told reporters on the sidelines of an event here.
In a statement on Tuesday, IndiGo said a passenger travelling on flight 6E 7339 from Chennai to Tiruchirapalli on December 10, 2022 accidentally opened the emergency exit during the boarding process.

The pilot held the taxi procedure as a precaution and asked for necessary inspection, it added.
"The aircraft was taken back to the bay at Jorhat for inspection. During the initial inspection, no abnormalities were observed. As a matter of caution, the maintenance team initiated a thorough inspection. The flight was cancelled," the IndiGo statement said.
An Airports Authority of India official told PTI that the Indigo flight to Kolkata was cancelled after being held up for several hours at Jorhat due to a "technical issue".
"There was some technical issue with the aircraft. There were 98 passengers on board. All passengers deboarded and are safe. They waited in the terminal building and the flight was cancelled at around 8:15 pm," he added.
Earlier, a local journalist uploaded a picture on Twitter showing an aircraft, which apparently skidded off the runway and one pair of wheels got stuck in the soft grassy outfield.
Tagging IndiGo, the scribe posted, "Guwahati Kolkata @indigo flight 6F 757 (6E757) slips from runway and stuck in muddy field in Jorhat airport in Assam. The flight was scheduled to depart at 2.20 pm but the flight delayed after the incident." Replying to his post, IndiGo said, "Sir, we're concerned to hear this and raising this right away with the concerned team. Please share the PNR via DM for the same. We hope you're well and comfortably travelled to your destination."

Following the threat call, the flight was checked thoroughly but a thorough check was undertaken by the security agencies to ascertain if any explosive items were planted in the flight.&nbsp;

The flight will proceed towards its destination later in the day, officials added.&nbsp;
Around 180 passengers and crew members of the flight were provided accommodation.&nbsp;

Cabin crew's refusal for food to a six-year-old girl because they had to serve the corporate clients first has sparked a discussion online on flight etiquette.

Requested the cabin crew to give her any food available, and willing to pay for it. Even on repeated requests, they refused saying they will serve corporate clients first. My daughter kept crying during the whole flight but they (the cabin crew) didn’t serve (food to her)." 
Responding to the tweet, a representative of the airline commented, "Sir, we understand what you must have gone through. Hope she is fine now. We'll certainly look into it and will connect with you tomorrow during working hours at your registered number." 
The tweet immediately sparked a flurry of comments on Twitter. While some internet users believed that the IndiGo cabin crew should have given preference to the hungry child, others blamed the parent for not carrying food with them. 
"As a parent of a six-year-old, first of all it is your duty to carry food with you. So blame your carelessness first. Agreed, the airline could have acted promptly. So first say that 'I as the parent of a six-year-old kid's parent didn't bring food and was expecting the airlines to serve me first," wrote Twitter user Kamal Raj (@KamalRajbharat).
"This is very bad manners. The airline could have at least served complementary biscuits or snacks to the kid. Adults can understand the situation but children can't. Airlines should be children friendly," wrote user Kiran Patel (@kirnpatel).

Aviation regulator DGCA on Saturday said it has imposed a fine of Rs 5 lakh on IndiGo airline for denying boarding to a child with a disability at Ranchi airport on May 7.
IndiGo had on May 9 said the boy was denied permission to board the Ranchi-Hyderabad flight as he was “visibly in panic”. As the boy was prohibited from boarding, his parents – who were accompanying him – also decided not to enter the plane.
The DGCA had on May 9 formed a three-member team to investigate the incident.

"It has been observed that the handling of the special child by the Indigo ground staff was deficient and ended up exacerbating the situation," said a statement by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).

Special situations deserve extraordinary responses but the airline’s staff failed to rise up to the occasion, and in the process, committed lapses in adherence to the letter and spirit of the Civil Aviation Requirements (regulations), it noted.
“In view of this, the competent authority in the DGCA has decided to impose a penalty of Rs 5 lakhs on the airline under the provisions of the relevant Aircraft Rules,” it mentioned. PTI DSP IJT
