The marquee televised portion of the gala will still air on CBS.

A vast firefighting operation continued into the night, bolstered by water-dropping helicopters thanks to a temporary lull in winds, even as new fires continued to spring up.
With reports of looting, Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert Luna said a nighttime curfew was planned, and the state's National Guard was on hand to patrol affected areas.
Governor Gavin Newsom said the service members were part of a thousands-strong deployment of state personnel.
"We're throwing everything at our disposal -&ndash; including our National Guard service members &ndash;- to protect communities in the days to come," he said.
"And to those who would seek to take advantage of evacuated communities, let me be clear: looting will not be tolerated."
Luna said his officers were patrolling evacuation zones and would arrest anyone who was not supposed to be there.
But with such a huge area scorched by the fires, evacuees feared not enough was being done and some were taking matters into their own hands.
Nicholas Norman mounted an armed vigil at his home after seeing suspicious characters in the middle of the night.
"I did the classic American thing: I went and got my shotgun and I sat out there, and put a light on so they knew people were there," he told AFP.

The biggest of the multiple blazes has ripped through almost 20,000 acres (8,800 hectares) of the upscale Pacific Palisades neighborhood, while another fire around Altadena has torched 13,700 acres.
Firefighters said they were starting to get a handle on the Pacific Palisades blaze, with six percent of its perimeter contained -- meaning it can't spread any further in that direction.
But after a lull, winds were returning and new fires continued to erupt.
One flared near Calabasas and the wealthy Hidden Hills enclave, home to celebrities like Kim Kardashian, late Thursday.
The Kenneth Fire exploded to almost 1,000 acres within hours, forcing more people from their homes, with over 180,000 now displaced.
US President Joe Biden told a White House briefing he had pledged extra federal funds and resources to help the state cope with "the most... devastating fire in California's history."
Unlike Tuesday when the multi-pronged disaster roared to life and 100-mile (160-kilometer)-an-hour winds grounded all aircraft, firefighters were able to keep up a steady stream of sorties.
But one Super Scooper -- an amphibious aircraft that dumps hundreds of gallons of water at a time -- was grounded after colliding with a drone.

Multi-million dollar mansions have vanished entirely, seemingly swept into the Pacific Ocean by the force of the fire.
In the Palisades, grids of roads that were until Tuesday lined with stunning homes now resemble makeshift cemeteries.
For millions of others in the area, life was disrupted: schools were closed, hundreds of thousands were without power and major events were cancelled or, in the case of an NFL playoff game between the Los Angeles Rams and the Minnesota Vikings, moved somewhere else.
Meteorologists warn that "critical" windy and dry conditions, though abated, are not over.
A National Weather Service bulletin said "significant fire growth" remained likely "with ongoing or new fires" into Friday.

At least five people have been killed in wildfires rampaging around Los Angeles, officials said Wednesday, with firefighters overwhelmed by the speed and ferocity of multiple blazes -- including in Hollywood.
Up to 1,500 buildings have burned in fires wreaking havoc around America's second biggest city, forcing over 100,000 people from their homes.
Hurricane-force winds whipped up fireballs that leapt from house to house, incinerating swathes of California's most desirable real estate.
Los Angeles County Fire Chief Anthony Marrone said his crews were struggling with the scale and speed of the unfolding disasters.
"We're doing the very best we can. But no, we don't have enough fire personnel in LA County between all the departments to handle this," he said.
On Wednesday evening, a new fire erupted in the Hollywood Hills, just a few hundred meters (yards) from the storied Hollywood Boulevard -- home to sights such as the Grauman's Chinese Theatre, the Walk of Fame and the El Capitan Theatre.
An evacuation order was put in place for a number of streets in the historic district, as firefighters took to the skies to dump water on the blaze.
"There is no time to delay," Margaret Stewart of LAFD said.
"We do not want people stuck. We want everyone safely exiting, get in your vehicles, grab your friend who doesn't have a car, and head south."
The sudden eruption created gridlock on Hollywood's streets, hampering efforts by people who live in the area -- a mixture of ritzy homes and rent-controlled apartments -- to leave.
Sharon Ibarra, 29, told AFP she had rushed into Hollywood when she heard of the blaze to see if she could help her boss with her two babies.
"I am super nervous, scared because of everything that has happened in the other places," she said.
"Thank God there is not much wind like yesterday."
That wind -- with gusts up to 100 miles (160 kilometers) an hour -- spread the fire around the ritzy Pacific Palisades neighborhood with lightning speed.
At least 16,000 acres (6,500 hectares) had burned there, with 1,000 homes and businesses razed.
A separate 10,600-acre (4,300-hectare) fire was burning around Altadena, north of the city, where flames tore through suburban streets.
Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert Luna said five people were known to have perished, with more deaths feared.
William Gonzales got out alive, but his Altadena home was gone.
"We have lost practically everything; the flames have consumed all our dreams," he told AFP.

Pasadena fire chief Chad Augustin said up to 500 buildings had been lost to the flames there.
He hailed the bravery of first responders. "Our death count today would be significantly higher without their heroic actions," Augustin told reporters.
Los Angeles Department of Water and Power chief executive Janisse Quinones pleaded with people to save water after hydrants in Pacific Palisades ran dry.
President-elect Donald Trump took to his social media platform on Wednesday to claim -- wrongly -- that the lack of water was the result of the state's environmental policies.
In fact, much of Los Angeles' water comes from the Colorado River, and farming -- rather than residential use or firefighting -- takes the lion's share of all water that flows into Southern California.
US President Joe Biden cancelled a trip to Italy this week to focus on the federal response to the fires.
"We're doing anything and everything, and as long as it takes to contain these fires," Biden earlier told reporters. 
- Dryness -
Having razed perhaps hundreds of multimillion-dollar homes, the Pacific Palisades fire looked set to be one of the costliest blazes on record.
AccuWeather said it estimated up to $57 billion of losses.
More than 300,000 households were without electricity in the region, according to Poweroutage.us. Utilities in California frequently de-energize lines during high winds to minimize the risk of new fires.
Wildfires are part of life in the US West and play a vital role in nature.
But scientists say human-caused climate change is altering weather patterns.
Southern California had two decades of drought that were followed by two exceptionally wet years, which sparked furious vegetative growth -- leaving the region packed with fuel and primed to burn -- and then has had no significant rain for eight months.
Meteorologist Daniel Swain said the fierce winds are stronger than the usual seasonal Santa Ana winds, but are not unexpected.
"The winds are the driver, but the real catalyst... is this incredible antecedent dryness," he said.
"That's something that we haven't seen in records going back to the 1800s."

HBO has renewed "Dune: Prophecy" for a second season ahead of the premiere of the final episode. The prequel series, set 10,000 years before Frank Herbert’s "Dune," stars Tabu as Sister Francesca.

American premium cable network HBO has given a second season order for "Dune: Prophecy", the prequel series to Denis Villeneuve&rsquo;s blockbuster &ldquo;Dune&rdquo; movies.
Also featuring Bollywood star Tabu in a pivotal role, the six-episode series is set 10,000 years before the events of Frank Herbert&rsquo;s seminal novel &ldquo;Dune&rdquo;, which was recently adapted by Villeneuve in two parts.
The show's renewal for season two comes ahead of the premiere of the final episode, which will air on HBO on December 22. The show streams on JioCinema in India.
"'Dune: Prophecy' has captivated audiences around the globe thanks to the visionary leadership of showrunner and executive producer Alison Schapker, who will continue to guide this grand tale of truth and power.
"We are incredibly grateful to our partners at Legendary and to our extraordinary cast and crew for their service to the Imperium. We&rsquo;re excited to collaborate with this team again to see what they have in store," Sarah Aubrey, Head of Max Original Programming, said in a statement.
&ldquo;Dune: Prophecy&rdquo; promises a rich narrative filled with intrigue and power struggles within the &ldquo;Dune&rdquo; universe.
The show features an ensemble cast of Emily Watson, Olivia Williams, Travis Fimmel, Jodhi May, Mark Strong, Sarah-Sofie Boussnina, Josh Heuston, Chloe Lea, Jade Anouka, Faoileann Cunningham, Edward Davis, Aoife Hinds, Chris Mason, Shalom Brune-Franklin, Camilla Beeput, Jihae, Charithra Chandran, Jessica Barden, Emma Canning, and Yerin Ha.
As per official logline, the show follows two Harkonnen sisters as they combat forces that threaten the future of humankind, and establish the fabled sect that will become known as the Bene Gesserit.
&ldquo;Dune: Prophecy&rdquo; is based on the novel &rdquo;Sisterhood of Dune&rdquo; by Brian Herbert and Kevin J Anderson.
In the show, Tabu plays the role of Sister Francesca, described as a &rdquo;strong, intelligent, and alluring&rdquo; character, who leaves a lasting impression in her wake.
&ldquo;Once a great love of the Emperor, her return to the palace strains the balance of power in the capital,&rdquo; the character description read.
Alison Schapker is the showrunner and executive producer with Diane Ademu-John, who co-developed the series. It is co-produced by HBO and Legendary Television.

Popeye can punch without permission and Tintin can roam freely starting in 2025. The two classic comic characters who first appeared in 1929 are among the intellectual properties becoming public domain in the United States on Jan 1. That means they can be used and repurposed without permission or payment to copyright holders.
This year&rsquo;s crop of newly public artistic creations lacks the landmark vibes of last year&rsquo;s entrance into the public domain of Mickey Mouse. But they include a deep well of canonical works whose 95-year copyright maximums will expire. And the Disney icon&rsquo;s public domain presence expands.
&ldquo;It&rsquo;s a trove! Here&rsquo;s a closer look at this year&rsquo;s crop.
Comics characters loom large: &nbsp;Popeye the Sailor, with his bulging forearms, mealy-mouthed speech, and propensity for fistfights, was created by E.C. Segar and made his first appearance in the newspaper strip &ldquo;Thimble Theater&rdquo; in 1929, speaking his first words, &ldquo;&lsquo;Ja think I&rsquo;m a cowboy?&rdquo; when asked if he was a sailor. What was supposed to be a one-off appearance became permanent, and the strip would be renamed &rdquo;Popeye.&rdquo;
But as with Mickey Mouse last year and Winnie the Pooh in 2022, only the earliest version is free for reuse. The spinach that gave the sailor his super-strength was not there from the start and is the kind of character element that could spawn legal disputes. The animated shorts featuring his distinctive mumbly voice didn&rsquo;t begin until 1933 and remain under copyright. As does director Robert Altman&rsquo;s 1980 film, starring Robin Williams as Popeye and Shelley Duvall as his oft-fought-over sweetheart Olive Oyl. That movie was tepidly received initially. So was director Steven Spielberg&rsquo;s &ldquo;Adventures of Tintin&rdquo; in 2011. But the comics about the boy reporter that inspired it, the creation of Belgian artist Herge, were among the most popular in Europe for much of the 20th century.
The simply drawn teen with dots for eyes and bangs like an ocean wave first appeared in a supplement to the Belgian newspaper Le Vingti&egrave;me Si&egrave;cle and became a weekly feature.
The comic also first appeared in the US in 1929. Its signature bright colours &mdash; including Tintin&rsquo;s red hair &mdash; didn&rsquo;t appear until years later, and could, like Popeye&rsquo;s spinach, be the subject of legal disputes.
And in much of the world, Tintin won&rsquo;t become public property until 70 years after the 1983 death of his creator.
Books show American lit at its height: The books becoming public this year read like the syllabus for an American literature seminar.
&ldquo;The Sound and the Fury,&rdquo; arguably William Faulkner&rsquo;s quintessential novel with its modernist stream-of-consciousness style, was a sensation after its publication despite being famously difficult for readers. It uses multiple non-linear narratives to tell the story of a prominent family&rsquo;s ruin in the author&rsquo;s native Mississippi and would help lead to Faulkner&rsquo;s Nobel Prize.
And Ernest Hemingway&rsquo;s &ldquo;A Farewell to Arms&rdquo; joins his earlier &ldquo;The Sun Also Rises&rdquo; in the public domain. The partly autobiographical story of an ambulance driver in Italy during the First World War cemented Hemingway&rsquo;s status in the American literary canon. It has been frequently adapted for film, TV and radio, which can now be done without permission.
John Steinbeck&rsquo;s first novel, &ldquo;A Cup of Gold,&rdquo; from 1929, will also enter the public domain.
The British novelist Virginia Woolf&rsquo;s &ldquo;A Room of One&rsquo;s Own,&rdquo; an extended essay that would become a landmark in feminism from the modernist literary luminary, is also on the list. Her novel &ldquo;Mrs. Dalloway&rdquo; is already in the US public domain.
Movie legends in the making: While a host of truly major movies will become public in the coming decade, for now, early works by major figures from the not-always-stellar early sound era will have to suffice. A decade before he would move to Hollywood and make films like &ldquo;Psycho,&rdquo; and &ldquo;Vertigo,&rdquo; Alfred Hitchcock made &ldquo;Blackmail&rdquo; in Britain. The film was begun as a silent but shifted to sound during production, resulting in two different versions, one of them the UK&rsquo;s &mdash; and Hitchcock&rsquo;s &mdash; first sound film.
John Ford, whose later Westerns would put him among film&rsquo;s most vaunted directors, also made his first foray into sound with 1929&rsquo;s &ldquo;The Black Watch,&rdquo; an adventure epic that includes Ford&rsquo;s future chief collaborator John Wayne as a young extra.
Cecil B DeMille, already a Hollywood bigwig through silents, made his first talkie with the melodrama &ldquo;Dynamite.&rdquo; Groucho, Harpo and the other Marx Brothers had their first starring movie roles in 1929&rsquo;s &ldquo;The Cocoanuts,&rdquo; a forerunner to future classics like &ldquo;Animal Crackers&rdquo; and &ldquo;Duck Soup.&rdquo;
&ldquo;The Broadway Melody,&rdquo; the first sound film and the second film ever to win the Oscar for best picture &mdash; known as &ldquo;outstanding production&rdquo; at the time &mdash; will also become public, though it&rsquo;s often ranked among the worst of best picture winners. And after &ldquo;Steamboat Willie&rdquo; made the earliest Mickey Mouse public, a dozen more of his animations will get the same status, including &ldquo;The Karnival Kid,&rdquo; where he spoke for the first time.
Music rings out the 20s: Songs from the last year of the Roaring Twenties are also about to become public property.
Cole Porter&rsquo;s compositions &ldquo;What Is This Thing Called Love?&rdquo; and &ldquo;Tiptoe Through the Tulips&rdquo; are among the highlights, as is the jazz classic &ldquo;Ain&rsquo;t Misbehavin&rsquo;, written by Fats Waller and Harry Brooks.
&ldquo;Singin&rsquo; in the Rain,&rdquo; which would later forever be associated with the 1952 Gene Kelly film, made its debut in the 1929 movie &ldquo;The Hollywood Revue&rdquo; and will now be public domain.
Different laws regulate sound recordings, and those newly in the public domain date to 1924. They include a recording of &ldquo;Nobody Knows the Trouble I&rsquo;ve Seen&rdquo; from future star and civil rights icon Marian Anderson, and &ldquo;Rhapsody in Blue&rdquo; performed by its composer George Gershwin.

Hollywood star Piper Laurie, known for her work in 'Carrie', 'Twin Peaks' and 'Hustler', died on October 14 in Los Angeles. She was 91. The 3-time Oscar nominee and Emmy Winner had been facing health issues for a while now. Laurie's manager Marion Rosenberg confirmed the news to Variety and called her 'one of the great talents of our time'. She was born as Rosettaa Jacobs in 1932 on January 22 and was the youngest of two daughters. Her father worked as a furniture dealer with her mother working as a housewife. She had an impeccable career and had been nominated for an Emmy nine times during the span of her entire life. It was in 1950 when she was all set to make her debut in Louisa that her manager rechristened her Piper Laurie. She then went on to appear in films such as Francis Goes to the Races (1951), Has Anybody Seen My Gal (1952) opposite Hudson, No Room for the Groom (1952) One of four movies she did with Tony Curtis were, The Mississippi Gambler (1953) and Ain&rsquo;t Misbehavin&lsquo; (1955). In an interview with the Archive of American Television, she said that she wrote the book because 'my life had many secrets and it was wearing.' Laurie is survived by a daughter Anne Grace. In the viral footage, Thicke, clearly inebriated, attempted to re-enter the bar but stumbled dangerously close to a potted plant.
Concerned for his well-being, Geary pleaded with the security guard, saying, "Don't let him go in there," and scolded Thicke, saying, "You are so drunk."
The situation escalated as Thicke continued his misbehavior, with Geary urging the person recording to capture Thicke's actions, while she repeatedly shouted, "F**king stop, Robin!" and "Leave me alone!"
She also warned him about people taking pictures of them. Eventually, the couple retreated to a black SUV parked nearby.
On social media, netizens expressed their disapproval of Thicke's conduct, with some users making critical comments.
One user commented, "Maybe he's going deaf, maybe he's going blind...," while another suggested, "how embarrassing, rehab you go, buddy, you've got a drinking problem."
Robin Thicke and April Love Geary had been in a relationship for four years before the musician proposed to her in December 2018. The couple shares three children: daughters Mia and Lola and son Luca.
