The team found that the risk factors contributed to a higher chance of complications like&nbsp;pre-term birth, low birth weight, and&nbsp;fetal&nbsp;death.&nbsp;&nbsp;
With every additional cardiovascular risk factor, the research team observed&nbsp;there was a graded and consistently higher risk for each of the pregnancy complications.&nbsp;Making matters worse,&nbsp;more than 50% of the women studied were found to be living with at least one of the risk factors and younger women had a tendency to be unaware of their own cardiovascular disease risk.&nbsp;

The study was conducted on almost 8,000 men and women, aged 50 to 70 for over 25 years. Researchers found that people who slept for 5 or fewer hours were 30-40 per cent more likely to be diagnosed with multi-morbidity (the co-occurrence of two or more chronic conditions).
According to Centres for Disease Control and Prevention, the sleep cycle differs with age. Babies under a year need 16 hours of sleep whereas adults do need 7 to 9 hours of sleep.

A study conducted in 600 villages of China revealed that switching from table salt to other substitutes can help reduce the risk of stroke in people. The substitute was about 75 percent sodium chloride and 25 percent potassium chloride as a replacement for regular salt.
The study, published in the New England Journal of Medicine included nearly 21,000 participants. Of them, about 72 percent had a history of stroke, and 88 percent had a history of high blood pressure. The study indicated that participants who were above 60 years of age and had a history of high blood pressure reported a lower incidence of heart ailments. This was a direct result of using salt substitutes than regular salt.&nbsp;
But, Minneapolis-based cardiologist Dr. Elizabeth Klodas pointed that the study particularly aimed to observe populations with a high risk of cardiovascular diseases. Therefore, she added that these findings may not be applicable to the younger population who do not have any heart disorders. As per the findings, maintaining an active lifestyle over time is associated with lower risks of cardiovascular disease and death in both men and women participants. Even a small amount of physical activity can be beneficial for older people, but if undertaken early rather than late, study authors concluded.

According to a new study, consuming higher amounts of red meat and non-dairy animal fat increases the risk of stroke, while eating more vegetable fat lowers it. The findings of the research were presented at the American Heart Association's Scientific Sessions 2021.

For the study, researchers&nbsp;evaluated&nbsp;117,136 participants for a period of&nbsp;27 years. The average age of participants was 50 years and all were free of heart disease at enrollment. Over the course of the study, there were 6,189 stroke events.
As per the findings, participants who ate the most animal fat were 16 percent more likely to experience a stroke. Those who consumed red meat every day had an 8 percent higher risk of stroke. On the other hand, people who ate the highest amount of vegetable fat had a 12 percent reduced stroke risk. And those who consumed dairy fat from cheese, butter, milk and ice cream were not associated with higher stroke risk.
