Former Indian cricket spinner Harbhajan Singh recently addressed a fan's criticism about the quality of Hindi commentary during cricket matches.
Harbhajan, who is part of the current commentary team for the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL), responded positively to feedback that suggested modern commentary focuses more on humor and poetry rather than being informative.
Taking to his account on X (formerly Twitter), Harbhajan acknowledged the feedback, saying, "Thank you for the input. We will work on it."
In other IPL action, Punjab Kings (PBKS) clinched a thrilling 11-run victory over Gujarat Titans (GT) in a high-scoring match. Defending a formidable score of 243/5, Punjab limited Gujarat to 232/5.
Gujarat's innings started strongly with Sai Sudharsan and captain Shubman Gill posting a 61-run partnership. Glenn Maxwell broke this partnership by dismissing Gill for 33.
Sudharsan continued to fire, leading with 74 off 41 balls, including five fours and six sixes, before falling to left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh at 145/2 in 12.3 overs.
Jos Buttler and Sherfane Rutherford kept Gujarat's hopes alive with a 54-run partnership.
Buttler scored a half-century but was dismissed for 54 by Marco Jansen, while Rahul Tewatia was run out for six. Needing fast runs, Rutherford scored 46 off 28 balls, but Arshdeep Singh struck again, dismissing him as Punjab edged closer to victory.
Arshdeep Singh was the standout bowler for Punjab, securing figures of 2/36 in four overs, while Jansen and Maxwell each took a wicket, sealing Punjab&rsquo;s first win in the tournament.
Earlier in the match, after winning the toss and electing to bowl, Gujarat faced a strong start from Punjab's debutant Priyansh Arya, who hit 47 off 23 balls.
His innings included seven boundaries and two sixes before falling to the seasoned Rashid Khan, leaving PBKS at 79/2.
Afghan all-rounder Azmatullah Omarzai made an immediate impact with a six off compatriot Rashid Khan.
Despite his early promise, his innings ended at 16 off 15 balls, with Sai Kishore dismissing him and taking the wicket of Glenn Maxwell for a golden duck on the next ball.
Marcus Stoinis contributed alongside Iyer in a substantial 57-run partnership before Sai Kishore struck again, claiming Stoinis for 20. Punjab surged past 200 in 17.4 overs, with Iyer and Shashank Singh driving aggression in the final overs.
Their explosive 81-run partnership saw PBKS achieve a formidable total. Iyer was unbeaten on 97, while Shashank smashed 44 from 16 balls, highlighted by a dominant final over against Mohammed Siraj.
For Gujarat, Sai Kishore was the standout bowler with three wickets, complemented by Rashid Khan and Kagiso Rabada picking up one wicket each, although all GT bowlers struggled against Punjab's onslaught.

'I suspect it is time to explain "Umpire's Call" again. After the ball strikes the pad, what you see is a projection of where the ball might have been, it isn't the actual ball because that has met an obstruction. If more than 50% of the ball is projected to hit the stumps, you can be 100% sure it will. But if less than 50% of the ball is projected to hit the stumps, the current accuracy levels cannot state with 100% certainty that the ball would have hit the stumps. Hence, you go back to the Umpire's original decision because you cannot be certain enough to overturn his call. It is a very good and fair method. As cameras get better and the projected path more certain, we could reach a day when you can be certain that even if the projected path shows a ball merely clipping the stumps, it would in reality have hit them,' he wrote on X.

'It's not just the captain if you can bring someone who has just retired from T20 cricket recently, someone who understands the format,' Harbhajan said.
Further, he said if the management does not want to remove Rahul Dravid as coach then he should be assisted by someone who has retired recently, 'If you do not want to remove Dravid as coach then help him with someone who has recently retired.

Shah, who is the president of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), is trying to shift the 2023 Asia Cup from Pakistan to a neutral venue which has caused ripples in the Pakistan cricket community. Harbhajan was a part of the discussion panel on the show and expressed his views on the same.
"If you feel, you don&rsquo;t want to come to India, please don&rsquo;t. Who is asking you? If you don&rsquo;t want to play the ICC event, it&rsquo;s your call. If our players are not safe there, we won&rsquo;t send. Don&rsquo;t play if that&rsquo;s what you want,&rdquo; Singh replied on the show.
The anchor, in his reply, said that if it had been an ICC tournament taking place in the neighbouring country, then India would not have had such a problem in travelling to Pakistan.

Gulzar Inder Singh Chahal, the president of the Punjab Cricket Association has stepped down from his position days after former cricketer and PCA's chief advisor Harbhajan Singh flagged alleged 'illegal activities' being carried out in the Association.&nbsp; As per reports, Chahal who took over in May was under pressure from the PCA Apex Council and the Punjab government.&nbsp; Earlier this month, in a letter, addressed to PCA members and the Chief Minister of Punjab Bhagwant Mann, Harbhajan hinted at wrongdoings in the organisation. He, however, did not name any individual in his letter.&nbsp; As per his letter, the body had been keen on inducting 150 members with voting rights to tilt the balance in their favour. The inductions, Harbhajan said, were being done without the apex council's assent, which is against BCCI's guidelines.&nbsp; The retired cricketer further informed that he will not represent PCA in the upcoming BCCI's AGM and the members of the state board will take a decision on it.&nbsp;

Surprisingly, it was former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh who replied to the bowler's plea and apologised for the inconvenience caused to him by the airline company.
"My dear, we will make sure you get your bag and our staff will be there to assist you.. sorry for the inconvenience.. (Ex Airindian Bhajji) we love you.&rdquo; Harbhajan said in his tweet.
Later, Shardul replied back in a fun way and said that he got help from the staff.
Harbhajan Singh along with some other players were Air India employees during his cricketing days which led to the ex-cricketer replying in the way he did.
