Referring to a recent incident, Gadhvi said that Saurashtra Zone President Prakashbhai Donga &ldquo;was also arrested during the process of filing the nomination form.&rdquo; He questioned the basis of such actions, asking, &ldquo;What is the crime of the Aam Aadmi Party? Is becoming the voice of the people of Gujarat a crime? Is raising voice for farmers, the poor, the deprived and the oppressed a crime?&rdquo; He added, &ldquo;If that is a crime, then we are ready to face the punishment.&rdquo;
Gadhvi also appealed to voters, stating that in the upcoming elections, &ldquo;attempts will be made to intimidate and threaten the candidates,&rdquo; but asserted that the party &ldquo;will not be afraid and will continue the fight strongly.&rdquo; He urged voters that &ldquo;when you go to the booth on the day of voting, do not forget the broom button,&rdquo; calling it &ldquo;a symbol of prosperity and good governance of Gujarat and a symbol of giving strong support to those who are fighting.&rdquo;

He alleged that BJP candidates are facing resistance from voters and, as a result, attempts are being made to target AAP leaders through police action and legal cases.&nbsp;
According to him, AAP has received inputs suggesting that FIRs are being filed against several of its candidates and efforts are underway to get nominations cancelled.
Gadhvi further alleged that party workers across the state are being pressured and threatened, and in some cases, attempts are being made to implicate them in false cases. He said the party would continue its campaign undeterred and asserted that AAP would remain &ldquo;the voice of the people&rdquo; despite such challenges.
Highlighting the party&rsquo;s strategy for Surat, Gadhvi said AAP has decided to project Manoj Sorathiya as its main face for the mayoral race. Addressing a press conference, AAP Gujarat in-charge Gopal Rai said that Gadhvi was taken into custody when he visited a police station to meet a party worker who had been detained a day earlier. According to Rai, the worker was picked up by police without a clear reason and kept at the police station.
Rai said that when Gadhvi went to meet the worker, police did not allow the meeting and instead detained him. He added that other AAP workers present at the police station were also taken into custody.
The AAP leader raised questions over the circumstances of the detention, stating that when a public representative goes to meet a party worker and is himself detained, it raises concerns. He alleged that the action was carried out under political pressure.
Rai further claimed that this incident is part of a broader pattern of police action against AAP leaders and workers across Gujarat. He said that from the arrest of MLA Chaitar Vasava to the detention of Gadhvi, the number of such actions has been increasing &ldquo;morning and evening, day and night.&rdquo; According to him, around 162 instances of police action have been recorded so far against AAP leaders and workers, with some being detained, allegedly subjected to harassment, and sent to jail.
He also referred to the political context in the state, stating that the BJP has been in power in Gujarat for nearly 30 years and had weakened the Congress as a political opposition. Rai alleged that the absence of a strong opposition had led to a rise in the ruling party&rsquo;s confidence, but the emergence of AAP as an electoral force has changed the situation.
Referring to the Assembly elections, Rai said that despite the BJP deploying its full organisational and governmental machinery, AAP managed to secure electoral success with support from voters, including farmers and other sections of society. He claimed that this has led to concern within the BJP as AAP positions itself as a voice for groups such as farmers, tribal communities, Dalits, women, youth, students, and those associated with animal husbandry.
Rai alleged that when Chaitar Vasava raised issues related to alleged corruption involving the government and ministers, he was booked in cases, arrested, and jailed for around three months.
He also cited protests in Botad related to agricultural pricing practices, stating that when AAP raised the issue in support of farmers, around 85 farmers were detained and jailed. He added that several leaders remained in jail for more than four-and-a-half months in connection with the matter.
Rai further raised concerns about drug-related issues in Gujarat, alleging that narcotics are affecting youth and students. Referring to recent reports, he mentioned claims made in the Assembly that large quantities of seized drugs were destroyed or lost, including an instance where it was said that drugs were consumed by rats. He also cited a reported case from Surendranagar involving the disappearance of 29 kilograms of opium, alleging that such substances ultimately reach young people.
On illegal liquor trade, Rai referred to an incident in Kutch involving AAP district president Dr. Kainat Ansari, who, according to him, raised her voice against such activities and conducted a raid after informing police. He alleged that while no action was taken against those running the illegal trade, Ansari was jailed.
He also mentioned AAP youth leader Brijraj Solanki, stating that he was detained while travelling to Surat to raise issues related to drugs.
Rai said that AAP is positioning itself as a voice for various sections of society in Gujarat and claimed that the party is working on issues concerning farmers, tribal communities, youth, students, and other groups. He alleged that such actions against party leaders and workers reflect political pressure as local self-government elections approach.
He added that the situation reflects an intensifying political contest in the state, with AAP continuing its activities despite police action against its members.

Sorathiya claimed that public dissatisfaction against the BJP&mdash; which has been in power in Gujarat for nearly 30 years&mdash; is growing, and that AAP is emerging as a political alternative.&nbsp;
Against this backdrop, he presented what he described as a list of around 45 FIRs registered in recent months against AAP workers and leaders, alleging that nearly 160 individuals have been affected.
According to him, FIRs are being filed against party workers for carrying out organisational work, raising public issues, or questioning the government.&nbsp;
He alleged that in several instances, AAP workers are detained at police stations overnight. Sorathiya also claimed that, on average, one FIR is being registered daily against party members.
He further alleged that in some cases, minor road incidents are deliberately escalated into disputes, followed by police complaints against AAP workers. He described a pattern in which individuals allegedly provoke altercations and then file FIRs, leading to arrests.
Sorathiya contrasted this with what he claimed was a lack of similar action against leaders from other parties, including the Congress, and alleged that complaints against some BJP leaders involved in criminal activities do not lead to action. He also claimed that filing complaints has become difficult for ordinary citizens.
Accusing the state government of misusing the police machinery, Sorathiya said law enforcement is being used to suppress dissent rather than maintain public safety. He alleged that crime control has been ineffective, raising concerns about drug-related cases and illegal liquor sales.&nbsp;
He claimed that while drugs are seized, explanations such as &ldquo;rats consuming the drugs&rdquo; are given, and alleged that narcotics continue to reach youth. He also alleged that liquor is being sold openly despite prohibition, with illegal outlets operating in several areas.
Detailing the distribution of FIRs, Sorathiya said cases have been registered across multiple districts, including Panchmahal and Dahod (three each), Godhra (three), Kutch (three), Banaskantha and Sabarkantha (four), and Valsad and Navsari (four), along with Ahmedabad, Surat, Jamnagar and other districts. He alleged that even AAP leaders who approach municipal bodies to raise questions face complaints and arrests.
Citing specific instances, Sorathiya referred to a case in Kutch where a woman doctor, identified as Kainat Ansari, allegedly conducted a public &ldquo;raid&rdquo; on an illegal liquor outlet and presented video evidence. He claimed that no action was taken against those running the outlet, but the doctor was jailed for 15 days. He also alleged that farmers raising agricultural issues have faced FIRs and prolonged detention.
Sorathiya further claimed that similar FIR patterns are repeated in multiple cases, involving allegations such as minor vehicle collisions followed by serious charges like rash driving or attempt to harm. He cited an example from Navsari, where he alleged that a routine incident was escalated into serious criminal charges to detain party workers and create a climate of fear.
He also alleged that police visit the homes of AAP workers, detain them, and claim recovery of small quantities of liquor to justify cases. Additionally, he claimed that party workers are pressured to leave AAP, and that in districts like Amreli, individuals are allegedly asked to provide lists of candidates for local body elections under threat of FIRs.
Questioning the intent behind such actions, Sorathiya asked whether police powers were being used to influence elections. He said political competition should be confined to the electoral arena and not involve law enforcement.
He also called on members within the BJP to reflect on these developments, warning that such practices could affect a wider section of society in the future. Sorathiya stated that raising questions and holding those in power accountable is a democratic right, and alleged that attempts are being made to curb this right in Gujarat.
Referring to past movements involving communities such as Patidars, Dalits, and Thakors, he claimed that similar methods of filing cases have previously been used to suppress dissent.
Concluding his remarks, Sorathiya appealed to the public to remain vigilant and oppose what he termed &ldquo;FIR-based politics.&rdquo; He said AAP workers would continue their activities despite legal action and would not be deterred by arrests or pressure.

On healthcare, Kejriwal criticised the condition of government hospitals in Gujarat, alleging lack of infrastructure, staff shortages and poor service delivery. He said that in Punjab, the AAP government has introduced a health insurance scheme providing coverage of up to ₹10 lakh per family, including treatment in private hospitals, and suggested that similar policies could be introduced in Gujarat.
Speaking on electricity, Kejriwal claimed that while power tariffs in Gujarat are high, Punjab residents are benefiting from free electricity for households. He argued that such measures are aimed at reducing the financial burden on common people and questioned criticism from opposition parties regarding the viability of such schemes.
On financial assistance to women, he said that the Punjab government has announced a monthly payment of ₹1,000 for women and stated that such initiatives could also be implemented in Gujarat if AAP comes to power. A first list of candidates is expected to be released soon. Gadhvi said the party follows its own strategy and highlighted that discussions for many seats are ongoing in a second phase, covering over 10,000 seats across municipalities and district panchayats. This will be followed by a &ldquo;Vijay Vishwas Sammelan&rdquo; on March 26 in Lalpur of Jamnagar district. The announcement was made during a press conference organised by the party&rsquo;s state election committee under the chairmanship of state president Isudan Gadhvi.
Several party leaders were present at the press conference, including MLAs Gopal Italia and Chaitar Vasava, state organisation general secretary Manoj Sorathiya, general secretary Rakesh Hirpara, national joint secretary Raju Solanki, frontal organisation state president Pravin Ram and frontal organisation state general secretary Samat Gadhvi.
Speaking at the briefing, Gadhvi said the party has divided the state into seven zones for election preparations and has formed zone-level election committees in each zone. According to him, each committee includes a zone president, central zone president, observer and assembly in-charges.
He said these teams conducted interviews of prospective candidates from constituencies under 26 Lok Sabha seats between the 10th and 15th.
Gadhvi added that discussions have now begun regarding candidates under A-grade, B-grade and C-grade categories. The state election committee will hold discussions from the 16th to the 18th on the names received from the different zones.
He said that the party will announce its candidates after the completion of these discussions.
Gadhvi also stated that the party will contest all seats in municipalities, taluka panchayats, district panchayats and municipal corporations. He said many people have expressed interest in joining the party and contesting elections, adding that the party has adopted what he described as an &ldquo;Open to All&rdquo; system for candidate selection.
According to him, applications have been received from social workers, political leaders and party workers, and discussions will also be held regarding these candidates.
He further said the candidate screening process will continue for three days, after which the first list of candidates will be announced.
During the press conference, Gadhvi also referred to the by-election for the Umreth Assembly seat, which became vacant following the death of the sitting MLA. He said the party will hold discussions with state and national leadership before taking a decision regarding the by-election.

Addressing a press conference, Kejriwal claimed that disruptions in supply routes linked to the conflict have affected the availability of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), which is widely used in households, restaurants and several industries. He warned that the situation could lead to economic disruption and potential job losses if the shortage persists.
&ldquo;At this moment the country is passing through a very serious crisis. Across the country there is a massive shortage of LPG gas which is used for cooking in households, restaurants and in various kinds of industries. A severe shortage has emerged in the country because the daily production has fallen by 50 percent,&rdquo; Kejriwal said.
He noted that India imports around 60 percent of its LPG requirements and claimed that nearly 90 percent of these imports pass through the Strait of Hormuz. According to him, disruptions in that route have significantly reduced supply.
&ldquo;In our country, around 60 percent of the LPG that we consume is imported. Out of this 60 percent import, nearly 90 percent comes through the Strait of Hormuz. Now the supply that used to come to India through the Strait of Hormuz has stopped for India. As a result, nearly 90 percent of those imports have been cut off,&rdquo; he said, adding that the overall supply in the country could fall by about 50&ndash;55 percent.
Kejriwal also highlighted the potential impact on restaurants, hotels and certain industries that rely heavily on LPG. He said that some establishments in major cities have already begun shutting operations due to supply constraints and warned that more closures could follow.
&ldquo;The biggest and most immediate impact of this crisis is being borne by restaurants and hotels as the government has issued orders that LPG gas will not be supplied to restaurants and hotels,&rdquo; he said, adding that many establishments do not maintain stock due to safety regulations.
He cited examples from different parts of the country, including Mumbai, Tamil Nadu, Delhi NCR and other states, where he claimed restaurants, hotels and industries are facing operational challenges because of limited gas availability.
Referring to the industrial sector, Kejriwal mentioned Morbi in Gujarat, a major hub for the tile industry, stating that several units there have been affected.
&ldquo;Morbi in Gujarat, which is considered the capital of the tile industry, has around 650 industries. Out of these, 170 industries have already shut down and nearly one lakh people have become unemployed,&rdquo; he said.
He added that if the crisis continues, large-scale unemployment could occur across the country.
Kejriwal also alleged that LPG cylinder prices have increased in recent days and claimed that black marketing of cylinders has been reported in several places.
Linking the shortage to global geopolitical developments, the AAP leader said the disruption was related to tensions involving Iran and control over the Strait of Hormuz, a key global energy shipping route.
&ldquo;This is happening because Israel and the US have attacked Iran. A large portion of the world&rsquo;s oil and gas supply passes through the Strait of Hormuz. Iran currently has control over the Strait of Hormuz. Iran has stated that only those countries that are friendly to them will be allowed to move their ships through that route,&rdquo; he said.
Kejriwal criticised the Union government&rsquo;s foreign policy stance, saying India should have maintained neutrality during the conflict.
&ldquo;The biggest mistake made by Prime Minister Modi is that in a war where India had no stake, we should not have supported either side. We should have remained neutral. For the past 75 years India&rsquo;s foreign policy followed the principle of Non Alignment in policy,&rdquo; he said.
He also questioned the Prime Minister&rsquo;s handling of relations with the United States and former US President Donald Trump, alleging that India&rsquo;s interests were being compromised. Kejriwal further said that foreign policy decisions should be guided solely by national interests.
&ldquo;India&rsquo;s foreign policy must be shaped according to the interests of our country,&rdquo; he said.
The Centre has not yet issued a response to Kejriwal&rsquo;s remarks at the time of publishing.

During the press conference, Isudan Gadhvi stated that the attack on Jigisha Patel was part of a &ldquo;pre-planned conspiracy.&rdquo; He questioned why police reportedly took out a procession in one case at midnight but asked when similar action would be taken against those accused of wrongdoing.
He claimed that in Gujarat &mdash; which leaders often describe as prioritising women&rsquo;s safety &mdash; several women, including Jigisha Patel, have allegedly been attacked and subjected to atrocities in broad daylight.&nbsp;
Referring to a question raised in the Assembly by MLA Gopal Italia, Gadhvi said details were sought about how many complaints were registered in Amreli and Bhavnagar districts within a year and in how many cases public processions were taken out against the accused.
Gadhvi alleged that around 96,000 complaints were registered, out of which approximately 200 cases reportedly saw processions being taken out. He asked what happened in the remaining cases and alleged that such public processions were generally conducted in cases involving poor or vulnerable individuals, while influential persons allegedly avoided similar public action.
He questioned whether the system was biased in favour of the powerful and whether only formal legal action &mdash; without public processions &mdash; was taken in most cases.
On the specific incident involving Jigisha Patel, Gadhvi alleged that appropriate police action has not yet been taken. Addressing Chief Minister Bhupendrabhai Patel, he said that assurances are often given regarding the safety of women but claimed that adequate action was not taken earlier in similar cases, including that of Payal Ben.
He stated that Jigisha Patel also belongs to the Patidar community and asked whether injustice against women from the community would be addressed properly. He further said that if the Chief Minister is unable to discharge responsibilities effectively, resignation would be appropriate.&nbsp;
He added that if justice is not delivered within 48 hours, the government would bear full responsibility. He also pointed to visits to temples such as Khodiyar Mata and Umiya Mata, stating that protection of women should align with those commitments.
Gadhvi announced that a public meeting has been organised in Gondal on the first of the upcoming month regarding this issue and farmers&rsquo; rights. He appealed to people of Gondal and Rajkot to unite against alleged injustice and participate in the meeting.
Speaking at the press conference, Jigisha Patel, who was the alleged victim of the attack, said that the incident in Gondal is visible to the public. She claimed that people were called to discuss road and infrastructure issues and that even though a Bharatiya Janata Party corporator was present and expectations were high for resolving the matter, the situation allegedly turned into an attack instead of a solution.
She said that although a complaint has been registered, minor sections have reportedly been applied in the case, which she alleged attempts to dilute its seriousness. She stated that if it was a murderous attack, strict and appropriate legal action should be taken.
Jigisha Patel further claimed that a person wearing a red cap is visible in footage from the incident, seen making gestures. She said it is unclear whether police have identified the individual but added that they have examined his social media profile and found allegedly provocative and threatening posts. She stated that screenshots of those posts will be shared with the media.
She also alleged that vehicles with black-tinted glasses and without number plates had previously been linked to illegal activities during elections in Gondal. She added that police had recently conducted a drive against such vehicles, including inspections at houses to remove black film from vehicle windows.
Jigisha Patel said she expects justice from the State Home Minister in connection with the matter.

Addressing the media, State President Isudan Gadhvi alleged that farmers in Gujarat are facing serious challenges. He claimed that 54 lakh farmer families are affected and are not receiving fair prices for their crops.
He also alleged inadequate electricity supply, installation of electricity poles in standing crops causing inconvenience, insufficient availability of fertilisers and seeds, and lack of benefits under crop insurance schemes.
Gadhvi stated that the party has consistently raised these concerns. Referring to AAP farmer leader Praveen Ram, he said Ram had spent 108 days in jail while advocating for farmers&rsquo; rights, but that the core issues remain unresolved. He said the Yatra was launched to amplify the voices of farmers across the state.
According to party leaders, the Yatra will pass through various assembly constituencies in Gujarat under the leadership of Praveen Ram and Manoj Sorathiya. A Farmers&rsquo; Maha Sammelan is scheduled to be organised on March 8 at the conclusion of the Yatra, which is expected to be attended by AAP National Convenor and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
The party also stated that after completing this Yatra, it will begin another farmers&rsquo; outreach programme from other regions of Gujarat after offering prayers at additional religious places. The ceremony was conducted under the leadership of Veer Mandhata Organization President and AAP National Joint Secretary Raju Solanki and Youth President Brijraj Solanki, along with members of the organization. Also present at the event were AAP Gujarat State President Isudan Gadhvi, MLAs Gopal Italia and Sudhir Vaghani, State Organization General Secretary Manoj Sorathiya, party office-bearers, workers, and members of the community.
Addressing the gathering, Arvind Kejriwal described the occasion as auspicious, noting that 151 couples were being married simultaneously. He congratulated Raju Solanki and Brijraj Solanki for organizing the initiative and acknowledged that over the past 12 years, more than 2,000 couples have been married through similar mass wedding ceremonies facilitated by Raju Solanki. He also extended his wishes to the newly married couples for a prosperous future.
Kejriwal stated that the event was organized by the Veer Mandhata Koli community and mentioned that the President of the All India Koli Samaj from Delhi was present at the ceremony. He said the Koli community has been active in social and charitable initiatives across Gujarat and the country, and has contributed to the state&rsquo;s development. He added that children from the community are talented and hardworking, and with proper education and opportunities, they could achieve further success. He also noted that cricketer Vikram Chaudhary belongs to the Koli community and has represented the country internationally. Kejriwal thanked the religious leaders present for blessing the couples and said he would continue to participate in future social, religious, and political programs in Gujarat.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said this was the 12th mass wedding ceremony organized by the Veer Mandhhata Koli Samaj, with 151 couples married at the current event. He said they had attended to bless the newlyweds and congratulated the organizers for conducting the program. Mann stated that initiatives aimed at public welfare and social upliftment should be encouraged, and added that they would continue to participate in programs&mdash;whether social, religious, or political&mdash;if they serve public welfare.
The ceremony witnessed a large gathering of community members and concluded with blessings for the newly married couples.

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann are scheduled to visit Gujarat on a two-day tour beginning February 21, party leaders said.
AAP State Organisation General Secretary Manoj Sorathiya stated that Kejriwal and Mann will arrive in the state on Friday for meetings and public engagements. According to Sorathiya, Kejriwal will land at Ahmedabad Airport and address the media upon arrival.&nbsp;
The two leaders are also expected to hold a meeting with AAP&rsquo;s state leadership to discuss organisational matters, particularly in view of the upcoming local self-government elections. The party has already announced its election committee for the polls.
On Sunday, February 22, Kejriwal and Mann are scheduled to travel to Bhavnagar, where they will attend a mass wedding ceremony organised by the Mandhata Group under the leadership of AAP National Joint Secretary Rajubhai Solanki.
Later in the day, the two leaders will visit Pache village in Vallabhipur taluka to participate in and offer prayers at the consecration ceremony of the Murlidhar Temple. They are also expected to attend a discourse by speaker Ramesh Oza during the visit.
The visit comes as AAP steps up preparations for local body elections in Gujarat.

The Aam Aadmi Party announced a 10-member Gujarat State Election Committee ahead of the upcoming local self-government elections, outlining its zonal structure and two-level candidate selection process as it prepares to contest independently.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Wednesday announced the formation of a 10-member Gujarat State Election Committee in view of the upcoming local self-government elections in the state.
The announcement was made at a press conference addressed by AAP Gujarat State President Isudan Gadhvi and State Organisation General Secretary Manoj Sorathiya.
According to the party, Isudan Gadhvi has been appointed Chairman of the Gujarat State Election Committee. Speaking at the press conference, Manoj Sorathiya said that the tenure of local self-government institutions in Gujarat is nearing completion and elections are likely to be announced soon. He noted that there is a possibility of the election announcement by the end of March.
Sorathiya also referred to the presentation of the state budget in the Gujarat Assembly on Wednesday and said the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process has been completed. He stated that the new voter list has been published and the process of necessary corrections has also been concluded, indicating that there may not be a prolonged wait for the elections.
The party said it intends to contest the local body polls independently on all seats and that organisational work is underway across the state. With the approval of the party&rsquo;s National Executive and Political Affairs Committee (PAC), the Gujarat State Election Committee has been constituted. The committee has been formed under the guidance of Arvind Kejriwal, with involvement from Gujarat In-charge Gopal Rai, Co-in-charge Durgesh Pathak and Co-in-charge Gulabsinh Yadav.

AAP also announced that it has structured its organisation into seven zones across Gujarat: North Gujarat, Central Gujarat, West Gujarat, Saurashtra Zone-1, Saurashtra Zone-2, South Gujarat and Kutch Zone. Zonal committees will be formed in each region. These committees will include positions such as Zonal President, Zonal In-charge and Co-in-charge, Lok Sabha In-charge and Co-in-charge, Coordinators, District President, City President, Assembly In-charge and Coordinators.
The party outlined a two-level process for candidate selection and election strategy. In the first stage, zonal committees will scrutinise potential candidates and forward suitable names to the state-level committee. The state committee will then conduct a detailed review and send the final list to the National Executive and PAC for approval. Candidates will be announced after receiving approval.
During the press conference, Sorathiya described the upcoming local self-government elections as a significant political contest ahead of the 2027 Gujarat Assembly elections. He said the party plans to field candidates in Taluka Panchayat, District Panchayat, Municipality and Municipal Corporation elections.
According to the party, with the formation of the committees, the candidate selection process has commenced, and candidates for all seats are expected to be announced within the next month.
