The event was attended by AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Gujarat state in-charge Gopal Rai, state president Isudan Gadhvi, MLA Chaitar Vasava, and other party leaders. According to the organisers, the event saw participation from people across different sections of society, including farmers, labourers, youth and women from Dahod and nearby regions.
Addressing the gathering, Arvind Kejriwal criticised the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress over their governance in Gujarat, alleging that development benefits have not adequately reached tribal communities. He raised concerns over access to education, employment opportunities, and implementation of welfare schemes, questioning whether allocated funds were reaching intended beneficiaries. Referring to MLA Chaitar Vasava, Kejriwal alleged that action was taken against him after he raised issues related to governance.
Kejriwal also highlighted AAP&rsquo;s governance model in Punjab, citing measures such as free electricity for farmers, changes in crop procurement systems, and welfare initiatives in healthcare and education. He said similar policies could be introduced in Gujarat if the party is elected to power. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Thursday organised a &lsquo;Vijay Vishwas Sabha&rsquo; in Jamnagar, which was attended by senior leaders including Arvind Kejriwal, Bhagwant Mann, Gujarat in-charge Gopal Rai, co-incharges Durgesh Pathak and Gulab Singh Yadav, state president Isudan Gadhvi, and several MLAs and party office bearers.&nbsp;
According to the party, the gathering saw participation from various sections of society, including farmers, labourers, youth and women.
Addressing the gathering, Kejriwal launched a sharp attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), alleging that the party&rsquo;s three-decade rule in Gujarat has led to corruption and deterioration in public services such as education, healthcare and infrastructure.&nbsp;
He claimed that roads and bridges in the state are poorly maintained and alleged that corruption is widespread in government departments. He further alleged that both BJP and Congress are working together politically, a claim that has been denied by both parties in the past.
Kejriwal said he had come to Gujarat to speak about the future of the state and urged party workers to take four key points to every village. Drawing comparisons with Punjab, he said that before 2022, the state had witnessed alternating governments led by Congress, BJP and the Akali alliance, but voters gave AAP a decisive mandate. He claimed that the AAP government in Punjab has since implemented several measures aimed at farmers and the general public.
On agriculture, Kejriwal said that farmers in Punjab are now receiving eight hours of electricity during the day for irrigation, compared to earlier supply patterns, and claimed that payments for crops are made on the same day. He also said that electricity for farmers has been made free in Punjab and that irrigation coverage has increased significantly. Referring to Gujarat, he alleged that farmers face issues such as delayed payments for crops, night-time electricity supply, and inadequate irrigation facilities, particularly in regions like Saurashtra where water scarcity remains a concern.
On healthcare, Kejriwal criticised the condition of government hospitals in Gujarat, alleging lack of infrastructure, staff shortages and poor service delivery. He said that in Punjab, the AAP government has introduced a health insurance scheme providing coverage of up to ₹10 lakh per family, including treatment in private hospitals, and suggested that similar policies could be introduced in Gujarat.
Speaking on electricity, Kejriwal claimed that while power tariffs in Gujarat are high, Punjab residents are benefiting from free electricity for households. He argued that such measures are aimed at reducing the financial burden on common people and questioned criticism from opposition parties regarding the viability of such schemes.
On financial assistance to women, he said that the Punjab government has announced a monthly payment of ₹1,000 for women and stated that such initiatives could also be implemented in Gujarat if AAP comes to power. He urged voters to support the party in upcoming local body elections, including district and taluka panchayats, municipalities and municipal corporations.
Bhagwant Mann, addressing the सभा, also criticised the long-standing rule of a single party in Gujarat and alleged that political alternatives have not been effectively presented in the past. Mann also referred to the farmers&rsquo; protests in Delhi and raised concerns regarding minimum support price (MSP), stating that farmers&rsquo; demands have not been adequately addressed.

Gujarat Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) state president Isudan Gadhvi on Sunday addressed the media, detailing the party&rsquo;s priorities and preparations ahead of the upcoming local self-government elections.
Gadhvi said that during their visit to Gujarat, AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann will address issues affecting the poor, deprived, exploited, and tribal communities. &ldquo;They will address the gathering on these issues,&rdquo; he added.
He noted that the party&rsquo;s screening committee has held three days of meetings, during which discussions with senior leadership took place. A first list of candidates is expected to be released soon. Gadhvi said the party follows its own strategy and highlighted that discussions for many seats are ongoing in a second phase, covering over 10,000 seats across municipalities and district panchayats. Detailed deliberations will take place during the upcoming meetings with Kejriwal, Mann, the state leadership, and various committees.
Gadhvi also emphasised that, for the first time, the party has adopted an open process to allow common citizens to contest elections. &ldquo;Applications were invited from candidates, and many people have come forward,&rdquo; he said, describing it as a &ldquo;new beginning&rdquo; for wider representation.

Announcing the programme at a press conference, Gujarat AAP president Isudan Gadhvi said the visit will begin on March 24, with both leaders arriving in Rajkot in the evening. A meeting with the state leadership is scheduled the same day to review organisational matters and election preparations.
According to the party&rsquo;s itinerary, a public programme will be held in Amreli on March 25. This will be followed by a &ldquo;Vijay Vishwas Sammelan&rdquo; on March 26 in Lalpur of Jamnagar district. The event is being organised with a focus on farmers&rsquo; issues and is expected to draw a large gathering, where the senior leadership will address party workers and the public.
The tour will conclude on March 27 with a major public meeting in Dahod. Party leaders indicated that a large turnout is anticipated at the event, with estimates ranging from tens of thousands of attendees.

The Aam Aadmi Party&rsquo;s Gujarat unit has announced that it plans to contest all 12,000 seats in the upcoming local self-government elections in the state, including those for municipalities, taluka panchayats, district panchayats and municipal corporations.
The announcement was made during a press conference organised by the party&rsquo;s state election committee under the chairmanship of state president Isudan Gadhvi.
Several party leaders were present at the press conference, including MLAs Gopal Italia and Chaitar Vasava, state organisation general secretary Manoj Sorathiya, general secretary Rakesh Hirpara, national joint secretary Raju Solanki, frontal organisation state president Pravin Ram and frontal organisation state general secretary Samat Gadhvi.
Speaking at the briefing, Gadhvi said the party has divided the state into seven zones for election preparations and has formed zone-level election committees in each zone. According to him, each committee includes a zone president, central zone president, observer and assembly in-charges.
He said these teams conducted interviews of prospective candidates from constituencies under 26 Lok Sabha seats between the 10th and 15th.
Gadhvi added that discussions have now begun regarding candidates under A-grade, B-grade and C-grade categories. The state election committee will hold discussions from the 16th to the 18th on the names received from the different zones.
He said that the party will announce its candidates after the completion of these discussions.
Gadhvi also stated that the party will contest all seats in municipalities, taluka panchayats, district panchayats and municipal corporations. He said many people have expressed interest in joining the party and contesting elections, adding that the party has adopted what he described as an &ldquo;Open to All&rdquo; system for candidate selection.
According to him, applications have been received from social workers, political leaders and party workers, and discussions will also be held regarding these candidates.
He further said the candidate screening process will continue for three days, after which the first list of candidates will be announced.
During the press conference, Gadhvi also referred to the by-election for the Umreth Assembly seat, which became vacant following the death of the sitting MLA. He said the party will hold discussions with state and national leadership before taking a decision regarding the by-election.

AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal expressed concern over a growing LPG shortage in India, linking supply disruptions to tensions around the Strait of Hormuz and criticising the Centre&rsquo;s foreign policy stance amid the Iran-US-Israel conflict.

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday expressed concern over what he described as a growing LPG shortage in the country and criticised the Centre&rsquo;s foreign policy decisions in the context of the ongoing conflict involving Iran, the United States and Israel.
Addressing a press conference, Kejriwal claimed that disruptions in supply routes linked to the conflict have affected the availability of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), which is widely used in households, restaurants and several industries. He warned that the situation could lead to economic disruption and potential job losses if the shortage persists.
&ldquo;At this moment the country is passing through a very serious crisis. Across the country there is a massive shortage of LPG gas which is used for cooking in households, restaurants and in various kinds of industries. A severe shortage has emerged in the country because the daily production has fallen by 50 percent,&rdquo; Kejriwal said.
He noted that India imports around 60 percent of its LPG requirements and claimed that nearly 90 percent of these imports pass through the Strait of Hormuz. According to him, disruptions in that route have significantly reduced supply.
&ldquo;In our country, around 60 percent of the LPG that we consume is imported. Out of this 60 percent import, nearly 90 percent comes through the Strait of Hormuz. Now the supply that used to come to India through the Strait of Hormuz has stopped for India. As a result, nearly 90 percent of those imports have been cut off,&rdquo; he said, adding that the overall supply in the country could fall by about 50&ndash;55 percent.
Kejriwal also highlighted the potential impact on restaurants, hotels and certain industries that rely heavily on LPG. He said that some establishments in major cities have already begun shutting operations due to supply constraints and warned that more closures could follow.
&ldquo;The biggest and most immediate impact of this crisis is being borne by restaurants and hotels as the government has issued orders that LPG gas will not be supplied to restaurants and hotels,&rdquo; he said, adding that many establishments do not maintain stock due to safety regulations.
He cited examples from different parts of the country, including Mumbai, Tamil Nadu, Delhi NCR and other states, where he claimed restaurants, hotels and industries are facing operational challenges because of limited gas availability.
Referring to the industrial sector, Kejriwal mentioned Morbi in Gujarat, a major hub for the tile industry, stating that several units there have been affected.
&ldquo;Morbi in Gujarat, which is considered the capital of the tile industry, has around 650 industries. Out of these, 170 industries have already shut down and nearly one lakh people have become unemployed,&rdquo; he said.
He added that if the crisis continues, large-scale unemployment could occur across the country.
Kejriwal also alleged that LPG cylinder prices have increased in recent days and claimed that black marketing of cylinders has been reported in several places.
Linking the shortage to global geopolitical developments, the AAP leader said the disruption was related to tensions involving Iran and control over the Strait of Hormuz, a key global energy shipping route.
&ldquo;This is happening because Israel and the US have attacked Iran. A large portion of the world&rsquo;s oil and gas supply passes through the Strait of Hormuz. Iran currently has control over the Strait of Hormuz. Iran has stated that only those countries that are friendly to them will be allowed to move their ships through that route,&rdquo; he said.
Kejriwal criticised the Union government&rsquo;s foreign policy stance, saying India should have maintained neutrality during the conflict.
&ldquo;The biggest mistake made by Prime Minister Modi is that in a war where India had no stake, we should not have supported either side. We should have remained neutral. For the past 75 years India&rsquo;s foreign policy followed the principle of Non Alignment in policy,&rdquo; he said.
He also questioned the Prime Minister&rsquo;s handling of relations with the United States and former US President Donald Trump, alleging that India&rsquo;s interests were being compromised. Kejriwal further said that foreign policy decisions should be guided solely by national interests.
&ldquo;India&rsquo;s foreign policy must be shaped according to the interests of our country,&rdquo; he said.
The Centre has not yet issued a response to Kejriwal&rsquo;s remarks at the time of publishing.

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Gujarat State President Isudan Gadhvi and party leader Jigisha Patel addressed a press conference in Samega, Manavadar, alleging that the attack on Jigisha Patel was a pre-planned incident and raising concerns over police action in the case.
During the press conference, Isudan Gadhvi stated that the attack on Jigisha Patel was part of a &ldquo;pre-planned conspiracy.&rdquo; He questioned why police reportedly took out a procession in one case at midnight but asked when similar action would be taken against those accused of wrongdoing.
He claimed that in Gujarat &mdash; which leaders often describe as prioritising women&rsquo;s safety &mdash; several women, including Jigisha Patel, have allegedly been attacked and subjected to atrocities in broad daylight.&nbsp;
Referring to a question raised in the Assembly by MLA Gopal Italia, Gadhvi said details were sought about how many complaints were registered in Amreli and Bhavnagar districts within a year and in how many cases public processions were taken out against the accused.
Gadhvi alleged that around 96,000 complaints were registered, out of which approximately 200 cases reportedly saw processions being taken out. He asked what happened in the remaining cases and alleged that such public processions were generally conducted in cases involving poor or vulnerable individuals, while influential persons allegedly avoided similar public action.
He questioned whether the system was biased in favour of the powerful and whether only formal legal action &mdash; without public processions &mdash; was taken in most cases.
On the specific incident involving Jigisha Patel, Gadhvi alleged that appropriate police action has not yet been taken. Addressing Chief Minister Bhupendrabhai Patel, he said that assurances are often given regarding the safety of women but claimed that adequate action was not taken earlier in similar cases, including that of Payal Ben.
He stated that Jigisha Patel also belongs to the Patidar community and asked whether injustice against women from the community would be addressed properly. He further said that if the Chief Minister is unable to discharge responsibilities effectively, resignation would be appropriate.&nbsp;
He added that if justice is not delivered within 48 hours, the government would bear full responsibility. He also pointed to visits to temples such as Khodiyar Mata and Umiya Mata, stating that protection of women should align with those commitments.
Gadhvi announced that a public meeting has been organised in Gondal on the first of the upcoming month regarding this issue and farmers&rsquo; rights. He appealed to people of Gondal and Rajkot to unite against alleged injustice and participate in the meeting.
Speaking at the press conference, Jigisha Patel, who was the alleged victim of the attack, said that the incident in Gondal is visible to the public. She claimed that people were called to discuss road and infrastructure issues and that even though a Bharatiya Janata Party corporator was present and expectations were high for resolving the matter, the situation allegedly turned into an attack instead of a solution.
She said that although a complaint has been registered, minor sections have reportedly been applied in the case, which she alleged attempts to dilute its seriousness. She stated that if it was a murderous attack, strict and appropriate legal action should be taken.
Jigisha Patel further claimed that a person wearing a red cap is visible in footage from the incident, seen making gestures. She said it is unclear whether police have identified the individual but added that they have examined his social media profile and found allegedly provocative and threatening posts. She stated that screenshots of those posts will be shared with the media.
She also alleged that vehicles with black-tinted glasses and without number plates had previously been linked to illegal activities during elections in Gondal. She added that police had recently conducted a drive against such vehicles, including inspections at houses to remove black film from vehicle windows.

The Yatra was then formally flagged off by Isudan Gadhvi. It is being conducted under the leadership of Isudan Gadhvi, Praveen Ram and Manoj Sorathiya.
A large number of farmers, party workers and local leaders were present at the launch. Several farmers expressed support for the initiative and stated their intention to join the movement.
Allegations on Farmers&rsquo; Concerns
Addressing the media, State President Isudan Gadhvi alleged that farmers in Gujarat are facing serious challenges. He claimed that 54 lakh farmer families are affected and are not receiving fair prices for their crops.
He also alleged inadequate electricity supply, installation of electricity poles in standing crops causing inconvenience, insufficient availability of fertilisers and seeds, and lack of benefits under crop insurance schemes.
Gadhvi stated that the party has consistently raised these concerns. Referring to AAP farmer leader Praveen Ram, he said Ram had spent 108 days in jail while advocating for farmers&rsquo; rights, but that the core issues remain unresolved. He said the Yatra was launched to amplify the voices of farmers across the state.
According to party leaders, the Yatra will pass through various assembly constituencies in Gujarat under the leadership of Praveen Ram and Manoj Sorathiya. A Farmers&rsquo; Maha Sammelan is scheduled to be organised on March 8 at the conclusion of the Yatra, which is expected to be attended by AAP National Convenor and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
The party also stated that after completing this Yatra, it will begin another farmers&rsquo; outreach programme from other regions of Gujarat after offering prayers at additional religious places. During the journey, party leaders will visit villages to directly understand farmers&rsquo; grievances.

The two leaders are also expected to hold a meeting with AAP&rsquo;s state leadership to discuss organisational matters, particularly in view of the upcoming local self-government elections. The party has already announced its election committee for the polls.
On Sunday, February 22, Kejriwal and Mann are scheduled to travel to Bhavnagar, where they will attend a mass wedding ceremony organised by the Mandhata Group under the leadership of AAP National Joint Secretary Rajubhai Solanki.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Wednesday announced the formation of a 10-member Gujarat State Election Committee in view of the upcoming local self-government elections in the state.
The announcement was made at a press conference addressed by AAP Gujarat State President Isudan Gadhvi and State Organisation General Secretary Manoj Sorathiya.
According to the party, Isudan Gadhvi has been appointed Chairman of the Gujarat State Election Committee. Speaking at the press conference, Manoj Sorathiya said that the tenure of local self-government institutions in Gujarat is nearing completion and elections are likely to be announced soon. He noted that there is a possibility of the election announcement by the end of March.
Sorathiya also referred to the presentation of the state budget in the Gujarat Assembly on Wednesday and said the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process has been completed. He stated that the new voter list has been published and the process of necessary corrections has also been concluded, indicating that there may not be a prolonged wait for the elections.
The party said it intends to contest the local body polls independently on all seats and that organisational work is underway across the state. With the approval of the party&rsquo;s National Executive and Political Affairs Committee (PAC), the Gujarat State Election Committee has been constituted. The committee has been formed under the guidance of Arvind Kejriwal, with involvement from Gujarat In-charge Gopal Rai, Co-in-charge Durgesh Pathak and Co-in-charge Gulabsinh Yadav.

These committees will include positions such as Zonal President, Zonal In-charge and Co-in-charge, Lok Sabha In-charge and Co-in-charge, Coordinators, District President, City President, Assembly In-charge and Coordinators.
The party outlined a two-level process for candidate selection and election strategy. In the first stage, zonal committees will scrutinise potential candidates and forward suitable names to the state-level committee. The state committee will then conduct a detailed review and send the final list to the National Executive and PAC for approval. Candidates will be announced after receiving approval.
During the press conference, Sorathiya described the upcoming local self-government elections as a significant political contest ahead of the 2027 Gujarat Assembly elections. He said the party plans to field candidates in Taluka Panchayat, District Panchayat, Municipality and Municipal Corporation elections.
According to the party, with the formation of the committees, the candidate selection process has commenced, and candidates for all seats are expected to be announced within the next month.

The demand was highlighted both inside the House and during interactions with the media outside the Assembly.
AAP MLAs Gopal Italia (Visavadar), Chaitar Vasava (Dediapada), Hemant Khava (Jamjodhpur) and Sudhir Vaghani (Gariyadhar) were present in the Assembly and pressed for the proceedings to be broadcast live.
Speaking to the media, Gopal Italia said that the proceedings of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha are telecast live, and that hearings of the Supreme Court and the Gujarat High Court are also available through live streaming on platforms such as YouTube. He added that several state Assemblies across the country telecast their proceedings through social media and other platforms.
Italia questioned why the Gujarat Assembly proceedings are not broadcast live when other key institutions function transparently before the public. He stated that the Assembly and government operate on the basis of public votes and taxpayer money, and therefore citizens have the right to know how their representatives function.&nbsp;
According to him, farmers, labourers, salaried employees, homemakers and other citizens should be able to see what questions are raised by their elected representatives, what discussions take place, and what work is being undertaken.
He further said that AAP MLAs had previously made written and verbal representations seeking live telecast of the Assembly proceedings. On Tuesday, slogans were raised and banners displayed inside the House to register protest on the issue. The party has requested the government to begin live telecast of the Gujarat Assembly proceedings through platforms such as YouTube, Facebook and television, stating that it would strengthen democracy and increase transparency.
Jamjodhpur MLA Hemant Khava also addressed the media, stating that since AAP MLAs were elected three years ago, they have consistently demanded live telecast of Assembly proceedings. He said he had written to the Speaker several times and had also drawn the Chief Minister&rsquo;s attention to the issue.
Khava alleged that under what he described as a joint political arrangement between the BJP and the Congress, issues of public interest are not prioritised. He claimed that live telecast of the Assembly is avoided to prevent certain matters from coming before the people of Gujarat. He also said that in the past two decades, the Congress had not strongly raised the demand for live telecast, whereas AAP has consistently pursued it.
Referring to Parliament and the judiciary, Khava noted that even sensitive matters discussed in the Lok Sabha, Rajya Sabha, Supreme Court and High Courts are telecast live. He said that the people of Gujarat have the right to see the discussions and proceedings of their Assembly, including the responses given by government ministers.

Speaking to the media outside the Assembly, AAP MLA Gopal Italia criticised the BJP-led governments over the trade deal issue. He alleged that the Government of India had entered into a one-sided trade agreement under pressure from the United States, claiming it would benefit America while adversely affecting farmers, cattle rearers, and small and medium traders in India, particularly in Gujarat.
Italia stated that under the arrangement, certain goods exported from India to the United States would face an 18% tax, while American agricultural and other products would reportedly attract 0% tax when entering India. He argued that American farmers receive substantial subsidies, making their agricultural sector highly competitive.
According to Italia, allowing imports of milk, oilseeds, cotton, soybean and other agricultural products from the United States without tax would make it difficult for local farmers to compete. He added that agriculture is already facing profitability challenges, and cheaper imports could further weaken the economic condition of farmers and cattle rearers in Gujarat.
Italia said the Aam Aadmi Party has clearly opposed the trade deal and demanded that it be cancelled in the interest of farmers, cattle rearers and milk producers in Gujarat. He called for appropriate safeguards to protect their livelihoods.
Referring to the Governor&rsquo;s office, Italia remarked that although Raj Bhavan was renamed Lok Bhavan, &ldquo;the mentality has not changed.&rdquo; He stated that as a national party, AAP had sought time on four separate occasions to meet the Governor on different issues but had not been granted an appointment even once, which he termed unfortunate.
He further urged the Gujarat government to bring a resolution in the Assembly seeking cancellation of the trade deal and to make a strong representation before the central government to safeguard the interests of farmers and cattle rearers.

In the agitation held at Haddad, thousands of farmers gathered, and a historic program was organized to abolish the price-cutting practice,&rdquo; Gadhvi stated. He added that Karpada also opposed alleged corruption in APMCs across Gujarat.
The State President recalled that following the agitation, the BJP government reportedly carried out a lathi charge on farmers and farmer leaders, and false cases were filed against around 85 farmers and leaders, including RajuBhai and Pravin Ram, resulting in their detention.&nbsp;
&ldquo;Despite this, the farmers and leaders remained firm and continued their struggle,&rdquo; Gadhvi said. He also noted that the reasons behind Karpada&rsquo;s resignation are currently unclear.
Gadhvi further highlighted the scale of AAP&rsquo;s farmer outreach initiatives in Gujarat. He cited a large gathering in Sudamda, attended by AAP national leaders Arvind Kejriwal and Bhagwant Mann, where more than 50,000 farmers participated. He said that following this, the BJP government announced a farmer relief package estimated at ₹10,000 crore.
Additionally, Gadhvi stated that AAP organized several &lsquo;Kisan Mahapanchayats&rsquo; and &lsquo;Kisan Nyay Panchayats&rsquo; across 13,000 villages in the state, collecting over 80,000 signatures in support of farmers&rsquo; issues, which were submitted to the Chief Minister.
Gadhvi emphasized that the party remains committed to farmers&rsquo; rights. &ldquo;BJP always tries to weaken farmer movements and intimidate AAP leaders. Residents of Mukeshnagar Society in Ahmedabad&rsquo;s Odhav area, along with leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), staged a protest on Monday at the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation office, alleging that sewage water has been mixing with drinking water in their locality for several months.
The protest was led by AAP youth leader and state chief spokesperson Dr Karan Barot and party leader Jaimin Desai, along with local residents and party workers. The protesters marched to the municipal office beating drums and raising slogans, and sought to submit a memorandum highlighting their grievances.
According to the protesters, they were initially stopped at the corporation gate and not allowed to enter the premises. Addressing the gathering, Dr Barot said that the BJP was in power at the municipal, state and central levels, yet residents in a major city like Ahmedabad were being supplied water mixed with sewage.
&ldquo;People only want to submit a representation, but they are being stopped and not even allowed to present their grievances. Are we Pakistanis? We are people of Gujarat and we have the right to submit representations,&rdquo; he said.
After discussions with officials, the protesters were later allowed to enter the office and submit their representation under the leadership of Dr Barot and Jaimin Desai.
While submitting the memorandum to municipal officials, Dr Barot said that residents in several Odhav societies had been forced to consume contaminated water for the past six months to one year.
&ldquo;If the sewage-mixed dirty water that is reaching people&rsquo;s homes is also drunk by the municipal corporation officials, then they will realise what kind of water people are being forced to drink,&rdquo; he said.
He added that when officials assured that a water tanker would be sent the next day, it raised concerns about how residents would manage in the meantime.
&ldquo;Does the corporation want people to keep drinking dirty water from this afternoon until tomorrow morning? People have submitted applications many times on this issue, yet the corporation has not listened to anyone,&rdquo; he said.
The protesters demanded that residents should be provided clean drinking water comparable to bottled water supplied to officials.
Dr Barot also said that despite voting in large numbers for BJP leaders, residents were now facing difficulties due to the alleged supply of sewage-mixed water.

Former Delhi Cabinet Minister and Aam Aadmi Party&rsquo;s Gujarat in-charge Gopal Rai on Sunday raised several questions over the trade agreement between India and the United States, seeking greater clarity from the central government on its implications for the country.
Addressing party workers and supporters, Rai said discussions were taking place across the country over why the Indian government had entered into the agreement. He said the government was presenting the deal as beneficial for India, but people remained unconvinced.
He said citizens from cities to villages across different regions of the country were questioning whether the agreement would benefit India or cause losses, and what advantages the United States would gain from it. Rai also questioned whether the agreement was based on equality or whether it had been finalised under pressure.
Rai further pointed out that while the United States had increased tariffs on Indian goods from 3 per cent to 18 per cent, India had reportedly reduced tariffs on American goods to zero. He also questioned why India had agreed to buy oil from the United States and Venezuela at higher prices when cheaper oil was available from Russia.
He said the agreement reportedly fixed import costs of Rs 45 lakh crore over the next five years, but did not specify how much the United States would import from India. According to him, this had led to confusion among the public.
Referring to media interactions with ministers, Rai said journalists had sought clarification from the Commerce Minister and the External Affairs Minister on whether India would continue buying oil from Russia after the agreement, but had not received clear answers. He questioned why the Commerce Minister, who is leading the negotiations, was unable to provide direct responses.
Rai also referred to the framework of the trade deal, stating that it mentioned a possible punitive tariff of 25 per cent if India continued purchasing oil from Russia directly or indirectly. He said the document also referred to monitoring by the United States. He expressed concern over what he described as external pressure and its implications for India&rsquo;s sovereignty.
Drawing a historical comparison, Rai said trade had earlier led to colonial rule in India and questioned whether similar circumstances could emerge. He said the agreement raised concerns about India&rsquo;s independence in decision-making.
Highlighting the agriculture sector, Rai said the agreement marked the first time India had opened this sector to the United States. He referred to documents stating that India would apply zero tax on industrial and agricultural products from the US.

Rai reiterated that the issue of oil imports was linked to the country&rsquo;s sovereignty and questioned whether India was being compelled to accept costlier options. He said the matter was not limited to any individual leader but concerned the entire nation.
Referring to historical events, he said that trade agreements in the past had eventually led to colonial rule, resulting in long-term consequences for the country. He said even one wrong decision could have lasting effects on future generations.
Concluding his remarks, Rai appealed to the central government, the Bharatiya Janata Party, and citizens to reflect on the agreement. He urged people to consider whether the country&rsquo;s interests were being adequately protected and said future generations would judge the decisions taken today.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Sunday organised a &ldquo;Transformation Meeting&rdquo; in Jhagadia, Bharuch district, in the presence of party MLA Chaitar Vasava, during which the party said that several leaders from the BJP and Congress, along with social workers, retired employees, and local residents, joined AAP.
According to the organisers, thousands of people attended the meeting, which was held in the Baleshwar area of the Jhagadia constituency. Addressing the gathering, Chaitar Vasava said that leaders and workers from various political parties, including BJP, Congress, BTP, and social organisations, had joined AAP. He welcomed those who became part of the party.
During his speech, Vasava alleged that during the earlier Congress rule, tribal land in the region was acquired in the name of development projects. He further claimed that similar land acquisition plans were now being pursued under the BJP government, leading to public dissatisfaction.
He also criticised the BJP&rsquo;s three-decade rule in the state, alleging shortcomings in education, irrigation, employment, and healthcare.
Vasava said that the large turnout at the meeting reflected public anger and a desire for change. He added that people would express their response through democratic means. He also claimed that AAP was confident of winning upcoming elections to taluka panchayats, district panchayats, and municipalities, and said that party presidents would be formed in the Netrang, Valia, and Jhagadia taluka panchayats.
Referring to legal cases, Vasava said that when party leaders raise issues, false FIRs are filed and they are sent to jail. He said the public would respond to such actions through elections.
During the event, Vasava also spoke about Chandrakantbhai Vasava, who provided the ground for the programme. He said Chandrakantbhai had supported people during floods, the COVID-19 pandemic, and other difficult situations, and had also helped organise marriages for many families. Vasava claimed that BJP leaders had questioned Chandrakantbhai for allowing the ground to be used, but said he had done so as a service to the community. He expressed gratitude to him for facilitating the event.
The MLA also referred to slogans used by AAP, stating that &ldquo;abbbbb&rdquo; was their slogan against the government. He alleged that BJP leaders had opposed this slogan, as well as slogans such as &ldquo;Johar&rdquo; and &ldquo;Jai Birsa Munda&rdquo; in the past. He claimed that BJP leaders were now using slogans like &ldquo;Jai Adivasi, Jai Johar, and Jai Birsa Munda,&rdquo; and said that in the future they would also raise the &ldquo;abbbbb&rdquo; slogan.
Vasava further claimed that recent surveys indicated that the main electoral contest in the region was now between BJP and AAP, and that Congress was losing its presence. He said that people who mislead the public would be rejected.
He also made allegations against Maheshbhai Vasava, stating that after forming the BTP, he had fielded what he described as a weak candidate during elections, who received around 3,000 votes. Vasava alleged that Maheshbhai had acted under pressure from BJP leaders, including Mansukhbhai Vasava, and had even contested against his own father, Chhotubhai Vasava. He further claimed that Maheshbhai had now joined Congress. Vasava questioned his political loyalty in his remarks.
The meeting concluded with party leaders reiterating AAP&rsquo;s intention to expand its organisational base in the region ahead of upcoming local body elections.

The 15-day strike by 182 JP Group employees ends after talks mediated by MLA Chaitar Vasava, with management accepting six demands and assuring salary hikes.

A 15-day-long strike by 182 employees of JP Group came to an end on Tuesday after discussions were held between the management and workers in the presence of MLA Chaitar Vasava.&nbsp;
Following the talks, the management agreed to accept six out of the seven demands raised by the employees with immediate effect and assured that the remaining demand related to salary hike would be addressed soon.
Providing details through a video message, MLA Chaitar Vasava said that the affected employees had been serving the company for the past 30 to 35 years. He stated that most of them are land losers whose land was acquired for the Sardar Sarovar Project.&nbsp;
According to him, the workers had repeatedly approached the management with their seven-point charter of demands, but when no resolution was reached, they decided to begin an indefinite strike.
&ldquo;The employees have been on strike since January 17. On that day, we met them, and the following day we also held discussions with the management. However, the issue was ignored by JP Group, and the agitation continued,&rdquo; Vasava said.
He added that the protest by the 182 employees lasted for more than 15 days, after which fresh talks were held with the management on Tuesday. During the meeting, six of the seven demands were accepted. Regarding the pending demand related to salary hike, Vasava said that, for the time being, a list of 62 employees has been prepared for promotion, while another 20 to 25 employees will be given upgradation.
The MLA further stated that the management has assured that from April 1, all employees will receive salary increments based on the nature of their work and their seniority. He also said that the JP Company, in coordination with Sardar Sarovar Nigam, has provided a written commitment on its official letterhead regarding the agreed decisions.
&ldquo;Therefore, we believe that the agitation has reached a positive resolution,&rdquo; Vasava said.
He also mentioned that he had requested the management not to deduct wages for the days during which employees participated in the protest. In response, the management assured that the pending salaries would be credited sooner or later.
Expressing gratitude, Vasava thanked everyone who supported the agitation and congratulated the employees for carrying forward the protest patiently. He said that he hoped the management would treat the employees like family members and that the workers would continue to perform their duties with dedication.
&ldquo;Here, we bring this sit-in protest to a happy conclusion,&rdquo; he said.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) held a press conference on Monday with Visavadar MLA Gopal Italia, State Chief Spokesperson Dr. Karan Barot, and Working Central Zone President Dr. Jwel Vasara to address key state issues and launch a new statewide awareness campaign.
During the press conference, the party introduced a new slogan: &ldquo;Na betanu, na bapnu&hellip; Gujarat have AAP nu.&rdquo; MLA Gopal Italia explained that the slogan reflects the party&rsquo;s message that Gujarat belongs to the common people rather than political heirs.
Speaking on the campaign, Italia said, &ldquo;For a long time, the people of Gujarat have been voting for BJP out of compulsion. Due to remaining in power for years, BJP has developed such arrogance and ego as if Gujarat is their father&rsquo;s property. Whereas in a democratic system, the ultimate authority always lies with the people as per the Constitution. No ruler, no government, and no party is greater than the people.&rdquo;
He alleged that under BJP rule, dominance and exploitation by father-son duos prevail in the state. &ldquo;Wherever BJP leaders require land, bulldozers are deployed overnight, and the livelihoods of poor people are destroyed. In many places, cases have emerged where sons of BJP leaders have been involved in criminal activities such as MNREGA scams, drugs, liquor, cuts in government contracts, extortion, and violence,&rdquo; Italia said.
He added, &ldquo;Sons of BJP leaders think, &lsquo;My father is in BJP, nothing will happen to me,&rsquo; and this mindset has caused great damage to Gujarat. From villages to the state government, people are troubled by BJP&rsquo;s father-son politics. Against this situation, the Aam Aadmi Party has decided to move forward with a clear message.&rdquo;
Italia further explained the meaning of the new slogan, stating, &ldquo;Gujarat being &lsquo;aapnu&rsquo; means Gujarat belongs to the common people. Through this slogan, the party will remind the people of Gujarat that Gujarat does not belong to political heirs, but to crores of hardworking people&mdash;farmers, workers, youth, women, and marginalized sections. With this slogan, the Aam Aadmi Party is launching a massive public outreach campaign to reach every home, every lane, and every individual across the state. The party expressed confidence that the people of Gujarat will bless AAP workers coming from ordinary families and support them in ending father-son politics and establishing true self-rule.&rdquo;
On the issue of recent demolitions in Rajkot and other parts of the state, Italia said, &ldquo;Whenever BJP leaders like a piece of land, bulldozers arrive overnight. That is why AAP repeatedly says that Gujarat does not belong to BJP&rsquo;s fathers or BJP leaders&rsquo; fathers. When BJP leaders liked land in Vatva and Ranip of Ahmedabad, bulldozers arrived there. BJP leaders, collectors, and police come together to vacate land&mdash;this will no longer be tolerated. Homes of people living near Motera for 50 years were demolished. Similarly, bulldozers are being used in the name of dream projects in Sanand and along the SG Highway, in Jangleshwar of Rajkot, around Somnath Temple, and likewise in Surat.&rdquo;
He added, &ldquo;When common people go to court, cases drag on for years. In my view, justice delivered in the people&rsquo;s court is faster than in government courts. In the people&rsquo;s court, justice is delivered in favor of the victims. When people&rsquo;s conscience awakens and justice is served, BJP will not be able to show its face. We stand with all these victims&mdash;whether it is a legal battle or a street protest&mdash;we stand with the victims everywhere.&rdquo;
The AAP indicated that this campaign will focus on reaching citizens in every constituency and village across Gujarat, aiming to raise awareness about governance issues and advocate for greater public participation ahead of the upcoming local self-government elections.
