Country music superstar Garth Brooks issued a statement in response to a lawsuit filed against him. The 62-year-old music icon is accused of rape and battery by a former hair and makeup artist, referred to as &lsquo;Jane Roe,&rsquo; with claims dating back to 2019.
In his statement, Garth asserts that the allegations are entirely false, suggesting they are an attempt to extort &lsquo;millions of dollars&rsquo; from him.
&lsquo;For the past two months, I&rsquo;ve faced relentless harassment filled with threats, lies, and distressing scenarios about my future if I don&rsquo;t pay up,&rsquo; Garth expressed in a statement to Deadline, shared by his team. &lsquo;It feels like having a loaded gun pointed at my head,&rsquo; he added. Before the new lawsuit, Garth Brooks reportedly filed his own anonymous lawsuit aimed at blocking the allegations.
&lsquo;Hush money, regardless of the amount, is still hush money. To me, that suggests I&rsquo;m admitting to actions I&rsquo;m incapable of&mdash;horrific deeds no one should ever inflict upon another,&rsquo; he stated. &lsquo;We filed a suit against this individual nearly a month ago to confront extortion and protect my character. We opted for anonymity to safeguard families on both sides,&rsquo; he added.
&lsquo;I want to perform tonight. I want to continue doing good in the world. It breaks my heart that these wonderful things are now in doubt. I have faith in the system, I fear no truth, and I am not the person they&rsquo;re trying to portray me as,&rsquo; he concluded.
In response, Jane Roe's attorneys told CNN that Garth is attempting to silence her with his lawsuit.
&lsquo;We believe that Brooks will be held accountable for his actions,&rsquo; they asserted.
&lsquo;We commend our client&rsquo;s bravery in pursuing her complaint against Garth Brooks. This complaint illustrates that sexual predators can be found not only in corporate America and Hollywood but also in the world of country music,&rsquo; they added.

A makeup artist and hairstylist has filed a lawsuit against country music legend Garth Brook. The plaintiff, identified as &lsquo;Jane Roe,&rsquo; claims that Brooks raped her at a Los Angeles hotel in 2019. Filed on October 3 in Los Angeles Superior Court, the lawsuit accuses Brooks of sexual assault, battery, and violating California laws protecting against coercion and intimidation.
Beyond the rape allegation, Roe claims Brooks repeatedly groped her and made explicit sexual comments.
Interestingly, before this suit, Brooks had filed a preemptive lawsuit in Mississippi, where he, under &lsquo;John Doe,&rsquo; alleged that he was being extorted after refusing to provide a raise and health insurance to the accuser.
Roe&rsquo;s lawsuit claims Garth Brooks orchestrated the alleged assault, booking only a single suite without separate rooms and insisting no other staff accompany them on the trip.
According to the complaint, leading up to and after the alleged rape, Brooks groped Roe&rsquo;s breasts whenever he could, forcing her to expose herself and threatening to &lsquo;mess around&rsquo; with her. When she refused, Brooks reportedly became visibly angry. The lawsuit describes a near assault where Roe, arriving to do his hair and makeup, found Brooks lying face down in loose shorts, holding his crotch, narrowly escaping further abuse because he was running late.
In 2020, Roe reached a breaking point. In an email, also sent to Brooks&rsquo; wife, she stated she could no longer work in an environment with explicit sexual comments. She also revealed that the trauma led her to contemplate suicide.
Roe&rsquo;s legal team includes Douglas Wigdor, known for representing high-profile plaintiffs, including Cassie Ventura and Julia Ormond, in cases against Sean Combs and Harvey Weinstein, respectively. Brooks has denied the allegations, claiming Roe falsely accused him of sexual misconduct and sought a court order to prevent her from filing a complaint.
A representative for Brooks has not yet commented.
