US Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti compared Delhi's pollution to Los Angeles' and said that it brings back memories of growing up in Los Angeles as the air was very polluted there in the past. US envoy on Thursday attended an event in Delhi where he talked about Delhi's air pollution.&nbsp;
Eric Garcetti said, "On a day like this in Delhi, it brings back memories of growing up in Los Angeles where the air was the most polluted air anywhere in America."
He further said, "We were given warnings by our teachers that you cannot go outside to play, just as my daughter was given by her teacher today as I dropped her off to school."
Internet users started reacting to his statement and said that they want solutions not nostalgia. It is also worth noting that smog is blanketing Delhi for the third consecutive day and several parts of Delhi recorded the air quality in severe zone.&nbsp;
The Indian Meteorological Department's officials have warned that there is going to be a spike in pollution in the national capital in the coming days.&nbsp;

US Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti has reacted to US Ambassador to Pakistan's visit to &nbsp;Gilgit-Baltistan in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, a region India considers an integral part.
Speaking to reporters while attending the 20th Indo-US Economic Summit in New Delhi, Garcetti said, &ldquo;It's not my place to react to the US Ambassador in Pakistan but he's been before.".
Reiterating Washington&rsquo;s stance on the Kashmir issue after a near-diplomatic overlap, Garcetti asserted that New Delhi and Islamabad should address the territorial dispute bilaterally and through dialogue.
&ldquo;This is an issue that has to be resolved between India and Pakistan and not by a third party, including the US,&rdquo; Garcetti said while addressing the Kashmir issue.

His nomination was pending since July 2021 over a controversy that he ignored sexual harassment complaints at the mayor's office.
Last week, the Senate Foreign Relations Committee voted 13-8 in favour of his nomination.
&ldquo;The relationship between India and the US is a strong one, and one of great strategic, economic, and cultural importance. Founded on shared values, supported by growing economic and trade ties, and strengthened by the Indian diaspora here in the US, this partnership continues to hold significant promise for the future," Senator Mark Warner, Co-Chair of Senate India Caucus, said.
"As co-chair of the Senate India Caucus, I am glad that there will finally be a Senate-confirmed ambassador in New Delhi," Warner said.

"Confirmation of Mayor Garcetti, who was voted out of committee unanimously and with strong bipartisan support to serve as ambassador to India. And that's important as we're talking about bipartisanship, as we're talking how we're going to move forward. And this is what you saw with his particular nomination," White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said.
"So, we see this as he is well qualified, Mayor Garcetti, to serve in this vital role, and we're hopeful that the full Senate will confirm him promptly. Again, he was voted out of committee unanimously with strong bipartisan support," Jean-Pierre said.

The Senator cited allegations that Garcetti was aware of and enabled his deputy chief of staff, Rick Jacobs, to sexually harass several employees within the Mayor's office.

"These men and women allege that Rick Jacobs engaged in inappropriate physical conduct (with several employees) without their consent. They allege that Jacobs made crude sexual remarks and gestures toward staff and others. They allege that he made blatantly racist remarks towards Asians and other minorities. These allegations have also been publicly reported in The Los Angeles Times," said the Republican Senator from Iowa.
Grassley alleged that the Biden administration, by supporting Garcetti, 51, is sending a message to the victims of sexual harassment in the workplace that they are only to be believed when politically convenient.
With India being the current chair of G-20 resulting in a lot of diplomatic activities between the two countries, the Biden administration wants to have its envoy in New Delhi as soon as possible.
Garcetti, who served as the 42nd mayor of Los Angeles from July 2013 until December 2022, is a close aide of President Joe Biden.
