Kolkata Metro will run special services across Blue, Green, Yellow, and Purple lines during Durga Puja 2025, including night-long operations on Saptami, Ashtami, and Navami to manage festive rush.

Kolkata Metro will run special services along four corridors during Durga Puja, it said in a statement.
The special services will begin on Panchami, which falls on September 27.
Also, night-long services will be run on Saptami, Ashtami and Navami (September 29-October 1) in Blue Line (Sahid Khudiram to Dakshineswar) and Green Line (Howrah Maidan to Salt Lake Sector V) to cope with the expected rush.
In the Blue Line, on Panchami (September 27), a total of 262 services (131 Up and Down each) will be run from 8 am to 11 pm, with the peak hour frequency of six to seven minutes.
There will be 246 services (123 Up and Down each) from 9 am to 11 pm, with the peak hour frequency of six-seven minutes on Sasthi (September 28).
On Saptami, Ashtami and Navami (September 29, 30 and October 1 respectively), 246 services (123 Up and Down each) will be available from 1 pm till 4 am of the next morning.
A total 132 services (66 Up and Down each) will be run from 1 pm to 10 pm, with peak hour frequency of eight minutes, on Dashami (October 2).
In the Green Line, on Panchami, 225 services (114 Up and 111 Down) will be operated from 7.30 am to 11.16 pm, with peak hour frequency of six minutes.
On Sasthi (September 28), 184 services (92 Up and Down each) will be run from 9 am to 11.28 pm, with peak hour frequency of eight minutes.
A total of 192 services (97 Up and 95 Down) will be run from 1.30 pm to 4.18 am of the next morning, with peak hour frequency of eight minutes, on Saptami (September 29), Ashtami (September 30) and Navami (October 1).
On Dashami (October 2), 74 services (37 Up and Down each) will be available from 1.30 pm to 10.32 pm at an interval of 15 minutes.
In the Yellow Line (Noapara-Baranagar to Jai Hind Bimanbandar), on Panchami (September 27) and Sasthi (September 28), a total of 60 services (30 Up and Down each) will be run between 3 pm and 10.35 pm at an interval of 15 minutes.
On Saptami (September 29), Ashtami (September 30) and Navami (October 1), a total of 62 services (31 Up and Down each) will be available daily between 3 pm and 10.50 pm, at a 15-minute frequency.
On Dashami (September 2), there will 50 services (25 Up and Down each) from 3 pm to 9.20 pm at a 15-minute frequency.
In the Purple Line (Joka to Majerhat), from Panchami to Dashami, 38 services (19 Up and Down) will be operated daily between 3 pm and 10.55 pm at a 25-minute frequency.
No Metro services will be available in Orange Line for the period of September 27 (Saturday) to October 2 (Thursday).

Outraged over the installation of a Mahishasur idol that resembled Mahatma Gandhi at a pandal in southwest Kolkata, people on social media sought immediate arrest of Hindu Mahasabha leaders who organised the Durga puja.
Organisers Akhil Bharatiya Hindu Mahasabha, however, claimed that it was a "coincidence" that the Mahishasur idol, which had a bald head and was dressed in a white dhoti and round glasses, bore resemblance to Gandhi, but social media was not convinced.
"Immediately arrest the officials of Hindu Mahasabha for depicting Mahatma Gandhi as asura in a Durga Puja at Kolkata," tweeted one Atanu Chakravarty, tagging Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
As the photos of the Durga Puja pandal went viral on social media, the Kolkata Police told the Mahasabha to change the look of the idol and also asked journalist Indradeep Bhattacharyya, who shared it on Twitter, to delete the photograph as it "may create tension" amid the festival.
"The Hindu Mahasabha claimed to have changed the idol on Kolkata Police's request and 'put moustache and hair' on it. What an easy solution found by KP," tweeted Ujjaini.
Priyanka Chaturvedi of Shiv Sena alleged that this was a "deliberate attempt" to demonise freedom fighters.
"Nope, this isn't coincidence. This is a deliberate attempt to change the narrative to suit the current narrative of demonising our freedom movement heroes. We have truly lost our moral compass as a nation," Chaturvedi tweeted.
One Partha Pratim Bhattacharya on Facebook urged the police to take action against the organisers of the Durga Puja as the idol "has hurt the religious sentiments of many Hindus like me".
"I don't have an inkling as to what steps the law enforcement people are taking to curb this nuisance. It's a shame for us, Indians and Bengalis is particular," Kumar Mukherjee posted on Facebook.
"It's such a disgrace to my city!" posted Dwaipayan Banerjee.
According to mythology, Goddess Durga slew Mahishasur in an epic battle to end his evil reign.

"The Durga idol that was worshipped here initially had a Mahisasur whose face looked similar to that of Mahatma Gandhi. The similarities are just a coincidence. After photos of it went viral, a police team visited the pandal and asked us to make changes to the face," he said.

With&nbsp;Covid-19 still looming large,&nbsp;the West Bengal government has issued special safety guidelines that have to be followed at all pandal&nbsp;gatherings this festival season.

This year Ashtami falls on October 13 while Dashami falls on October 15.

Ahead of the much celebrated Durga Puja, Kolkata-based visual artist Sanatan Dinda&rsquo;s painting captioned &lsquo;Ma aschen&rsquo; or &lsquo;Mother is coming&rsquo; has received backlash for hurting the religious sentiments of the Hindus.

The image was interpreted by many netizens as &lsquo;Durga in a burqa&rsquo;. West Bengal BJP Mahila Morcha Vice-President Keya Ghosh took to Twitter to slam the artist and said &lsquo;he knows he can get away because many intellectual Bengalis are going gaga over it.&rsquo; Others also &ldquo;condemned&rdquo; Dinda's painting, slamming him for misusing &ldquo;artistic freedom&rdquo;.
Dinda's Facebook post has been flooded with hate comments ever since the painting went viral. The artist said he was &ldquo;forced&rdquo; to take down the image and issue an apology on his social media platforms.
He has however clarified his stance saying the term hijab or burqa was never used. He added the painting was a plain representation of a feminine face, protecting her elegance from the gaze of a chauvinistic male society.
Calling his work a &lsquo;secular painting&rsquo; he blamed the &lsquo;propaganda of a particular sect&rsquo; for creating communal disharmony.

Expressing shock at the order, the Forum said the order is a huge set back for the committees that spent four months working at making things safe for visitors. According to the forum chief, Sawat Bose, the rule specifying barricade 10 metres before the pandal will create more chaos.

There are some 37,000 Puja pandals in the state and the Chief Minister has announced a grant of 50,000 rupees to each.
