Lack of proactive control interventions and staff are some of the other challenges."

Symptoms of severe dengue are severe abdominal pain, plasma leak, shortness of breath, bleeding nose or gums, persistent vomiting, vomiting blood, or organ failure. As these symptoms start reflecting, the next 24-48 hours are considered to be crucial.&nbsp;
<h3>Recovery and precautions</h3>
After recovering from dengue, it is advisable to take extra precautions to avoid mosquito bites for at least a week. If an uninfected mosquito bites a person infected with dengue, it can further infect more people.&nbsp;

UP's Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak reportedly said that the transfusion packs have been sent for testing.

In an unbelievable case of medical negligence, a dengue patient was allegedly transfused with fruit juice instead of blood platelets at a hospital in Uttar Pradesh. The patient later died.
The incident occurred in UP's Prayagraj. Authorities swung into action when a purported video of the incident went viral on social media. The private hospital was sealed on 20 October 2022.
UP's Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak reportedly said that the transfusion packs have been sent for testing, and if found guilty, strict action would be taken against hospital officials.
The owner of the hospital in question denied any wrongdoing. He said that the patient's relatives had been asked to arrange blood platelets as his platelet count had dropped.

The hospital owner said that the relatives brought five units of platelets from SRN Hospital, but the patient had a reaction after transfusion of three units, and so the treatment was stopped. He claimed that the platelet packs had stickers of SRN Hospital on them.

A day after it was claimed that a dengue patient was transfused with fruit juice instead of platelets, Uttar Pradesh police busted a gang operating a fake platelet operation in Prayagraj.
Ten members of a gang allegedly selling fake platelets were arrested on 21 October 2022. Police said that the accused took plasma from various blood banks, put it in pouches, and sold it as platelets.
A day earlier, a private hospital in Prayagraj was sealed over allegations that a dengue patient died after being given juice transfusion instead of platelets. A link between the arrests and the case of the dengue patient's death is not clear yet.
Regarding the juice controversy, police said that it is still being ascertained whether the pouches contained sweet lime juice or something else.
The hospital's owner had said that the pouches were brought by the patient's relatives from another hospital, and treatment was stopped after he developed a reaction to the transfusion.
