In its probe into the Delhi Liquor excise case, Enforcement Directorate officials conducted searches at the residence of Aam Admi Party leader Sanjay Singh in Delhi. New wire ANI released footage of ED officials and security personnel at the residence of the Rajya Sabha MP. The searches began at around 7 a.m. Singh&rsquo;s name was mentioned in the ED&rsquo;s prosecution complaint filed in December 2022. The raids at Singh's residence are happening on the day the Supreme Court is expected to hear the bail plea of AAP leader Manish Sisodia in a matter connected with the excise policy case.

The Enforcement Directorate arrested Sisodia after questioning him for two days over alleged money laundering while framing the new liquor policy. Sisodia was earlier arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation and was languishing in Delhi's Tihar jail.&nbsp; Sisodia, has been seeking bail from the CBI court. Reports said the Aam Aadmi leader will be be produced in a court by the Enforcement Directorate on March 10, which is the same day his bail hearing in the case involving CBI probe is likely to come up.

Delhi liquor policy case: Kavitha says will seek legal opinion

The Enforcement Directorate has summoned Kavitha in connection with a money laundering case linked to alleged irregularities in the Delhi excise policy.

BRS MLC in Telangana K Kavitha, who has been summoned by the ED, on Wednesday said she would fully cooperate with the investigation agency but would seek legal opinion on the date of deposition in view of her proposed dharna in support of the women's reservation bill in Delhi on March 10.
Kavitha said "these tactics of intimidation" against the fight of her father and Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and the BRS would not deter them.
In a statement here, she claimed that she has been summoned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to depose on March 9 "in light of" her proposed hunger strike at Jantar Mantar in Delhi in support of the women's reservation bill on March 10.
"As a law-abiding citizen, I will fully cooperate with the investigation agencies. However, due to the dharna and prefixed appointments, I'll seek legal opinions on the date of attending it," she said.
"I would also like the ruling party at the Centre to know that these tactics of intimidation against the fight and voice of our leader, CM Shri KCR, and against the entire BRS Party will not deter us," Kavitha said.
Under the leadership of Chief Minister KCR, the BRS will continue to fight to expose the BJP's failures and raise its voice for a brighter and better future for India, she said.
Telangana would "never bow before" the anti-people regime in Delhi, she claimed.
"Let me also remind the power mongers in Delhi that Telangana has never and will never bow before the oppressive anti-people regime. We will fearlessly and fiercely fight for the rights of the people," she said.

The ED on Saturday filed its first charge sheet before a court here in the Delhi Excise policy money laundering case naming liquor businessman Sameer Mahendru as one of the accused, officials said.
Besides Indospirits promoter Mahendru, the prosecution complaint has also listed two other persons and is about 3,000 pages containing statements of the accused and annexures, they said.
Sections of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) have been pressed in the charge sheet, they said.
The agency said it has so far undertaken 169 search operations in this case, filed after taking cognisance of a CBI FIR which was registered on the recommendation of the Delhi lieutenant governor.

The CBI inquiry was recommended on the findings of the Delhi chief secretary's report filed in July showing prima facie violations of the GNCTD Act 1991, Transaction of Business Rules (ToBR)-1993, Delhi Excise Act-2009, and Delhi Excise Rules-2010, officials had said.
A total of five people have been arrested by the ED in this case till now. Mahendru was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate on September 27 following his questioning.
The CBI too filed its first charge sheet in the case early this week.&nbsp;

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday alleged the Central Bureau of Investigation and the Enforcement Directorate are "unnecessarily troubling everyone" and said the country can't progress like this.
Addressing a press conference, the chief minister said the Lieutenant Governor, the CBI and the BJP have quoted varying amounts of money involved in the alleged liquor scam but he doesn't understand what it is really about.
His remarks came after the ED launched fresh raids at about 40 locations across the country as part of a money laundering investigation into alleged irregularities in the now-scrapped Delhi Excise Policy 2021-22.
The raids are being conducted at premises linked to liquor businessmen, distributors and supply chain networks in Nellore and some other cities in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Delhi-NCR, official sources said.
"One of their (BJP) leaders says that it is a scam of Rs 8,000 crore, the LG says it is a scam of Rs 144 crore and the CBI FIR says there is a scam of Rs 1 crore. I don't understand what the liquor scam is," Kejriwal said.
"The country cannot progress like this. They are unnecessarily troubling everyone," he said.
The ED's case stems from a CBI FIR in which Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and some bureaucrats have been named as accused.

The ED is probing if there were irregularities in the formulation and implementation of the Delhi excise policy and if any "proceeds of crime" in terms of tainted money were generated by the accused.
On August 19, the CBI had conducted raids at various places, including Sisodia's residence here, in connection with the excise policy case.
Kejriwal alleged the BJP-ruled civic body plans to create 16 new landfill sites in Delhi and turn it into a city of garbage hills.
At present, three landfill sites -- Ghazipur, Okhla and Bhalswa -- are located at Delhi borders.
"People living in the vicinity of these landfill sites are affected by the foul smell emanating from these garbage mounds and a host of other issues. We have heard that there are plans to make 16 new garbage hills in the national capital," the chief minister said.
On the other hand, he said, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government is developing Delhi into a city of parks and lakes.
"If given a chance, we will beautify the national capital in a time-bound manner," he added.
The AAP has launched a month-long campaign to highlight the failures of the BJP-ruled civic body. As part of the campaign, groups led by AAP MLAs tried to reach Ghazipur and Okhla landfill sites on Wednesday and Thursday, respectively, but were stopped by police.
The BJP ruled the three erstwhile municipal corporations in Delhi and the AAP was the main opposition party till the terms of the civic bodies expired in May.
Elections to constitute a new civic body are yet to be held as an exercise for delimitation of municipal wards is underway.

The Excise officials said the liquor supply will improve from the first week of September due to the opening of more shops.
"Currently, there are nearly 250 private shops that over 300 government vends will replace. So there will be more shops and the number will grow further in the coming days as 500 shops are planned to be opened by four Delhi government undertakings," said a senior Excise department officer.
A mobile app mAbkaridelhi developed by the Excise department will become operational in September providing consumers information about the location of liquor stores in their neighbourhood and shop timings.
Several government vends will be located in malls and near Metro stations. Sisodia had linked the recent raid at his home in connection with the alleged excise scam to his "refusal” to accept a BJP “offer” that he would be made the Delhi chief minister if he quits Kejriwal’s party.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) alleged that the AAP government in Delhi ignored infractions in the implementation of the excise policy and recommendations of an expert committee set up to reform liquor trade in the national capital.
It said the AAP leaders had been patting each other on the back and digressing from the questions raised on the alleged malpractices.
According to the Delhi excise policy, producers, retailers and distributors of liquor cannot be the same. Also, there cannot be common directors or shareholders in different companies bidding for licenses, BJP MP Sudhanshu Trivedi told a news conference in Delhi.
The ED, during its probe, will analyse if individuals and companies who were involved in the policy-making of this scheme and related entities generated any "proceeds of crime under the definition of PMLA" and if there was any possible creation of illegal or benami assets, agency sources said.
The agency has powers to attach such assets and question, arrest and prosecute those who indulge in the offence of money laundering.
The Delhi excise policy scheme came under the scanner after Delhi Lt Governor V K Saxena last month recommended a CBI probe into alleged irregularities in the implementation of Delhi's Excise Policy 2021-22. He also suspended 11 excise officials in the matter.

TRS leader and Telangana CM KCR's daughter K Kavitha  on Monday said she will move court seeking an injunction order against those dragging her name in the Delhi liquor scam.
The  TRS MLC will file a defamation case against Delhi BJP leaders Parvesh Varma and Manjinder Singh Sirsa who alleged that Kavitha was the  'middleman' between the liquor mafia and AAP government in the scam.
Calling the allegations baseless Kavitha said she has nothing to do with ongoing scam and claimed that the saffron party was trying to malign her family's reputation. 
She said she won't step down and will put up a fight.BJP MP Parvesh Verma had alleged that Telangana CM's family members attended meetings on the formulation of the Delhi excise policy at Oberoi Hotel. 
"KCR's family members got the same policy implemented in Punjab. They prepared a plan for Delhi, along with Manish Sisodia and Arvind Kejriwal," claimed Verma.
Verma also alleged that between the liquor mafia and the AAP government, Telangana CM KCR's daughter “K Kavitha acted as a middleman”.
The CBI's Friday raids came after Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena last month recommended a probe by the agency into the alleged violations of rules and procedural lapses in the implementation of the policy that came into effect from November 17 last year. Deputy CM Manish Sisodia and houses of excise officials were raided.

BJP MP Parvesh Verma has alleged that Kavitha was the &nbsp;'middleman' between the liquor mafia and AAP government involved in the scam.

TRS leader and Telangana CM KCR's daughter K Kavitha &nbsp;on Monday said she will move court seeking an injunction order against those dragging her name in the Delhi liquor scam.
The TRS MLC will file a defamation case against Delhi BJP leaders Parvesh Varma and Manjinder Singh Sirsa who alleged that Kavitha was the 'middleman' between the liquor mafia and <a href="https://www.editorji.com/india-news/cbi-will-get-pencils-geometry-boxes-at-sisodia-s-house-aap-targets-pm-modi-1660912181669">AAP government</a> in the scam.
Calling the allegations baseless Kavitha said she has nothing to do with ongoing scam and claimed that the saffron party was trying to malign her family's reputation.&nbsp;
She added that she won't step down and will put up a fight.

BJP MP Parvesh Verma has alleged that Telangana CM's family members attended meetings on the formulation of the Delhi excise policy at Oberoi Hotel. &nbsp;
"KCR's family members got the same policy implemented in Punjab. They prepared a plan for Delhi, along with Manish Sisodia and <a href="https://www.editorji.com/india-news/new-york-times-article-on-delhi-education-system-kejriwal-s-answer-to-cbi-raids-on-deputy-1660896465211">Arvind Kejriwa</a>l," claimed Verma.
The CBI's Friday raids at Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia's Delhi house and excise officers came after Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena last month recommended a probe by the agency into the alleged violations of rules and procedural lapses in the implementation of the policy that came into effect from November 17 last year. <a href="https://www.editorji.com/india-news/delhi-excise-policy-cbi-raids-house-of-delhi-deputy-cm-manish-sisodia-1660880264171">Deputy CM Manish Sisodia</a> and houses of excise officials were raided.&nbsp;
