Director Ayan Mukerji has recently talked about the second installment of his magnum opus 'Brahmastra: Part One &ndash; Shiva'.

Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt starrer &lsquo;Brahmastra: Part One &ndash; Shiva&rsquo; took nearly a decade to make. Now, in a recent interview, director Ayan Mukerji has opened up about his plans to finish the second installment of his fantasy drama. He said that he realises if he takes another decade, nobody would watch the film.
Speaking with News18.com, Ayan said work on &lsquo;Brahmastra 2&rsquo; has already started and it will take a couple of years. &lsquo;And that&rsquo;s one hundred percent better than ten years. If we take another ten years, nobody will come to watch Brahmastra 2. We&rsquo;re going to get it ready much before that,&rsquo; he said.
He was also questioned about the change in the star cast of the film. To this, he replied, 'There&rsquo;s no answer for this question yet. We&rsquo;ll have to wait.'
'Brahmastra' did wonders at the box office and minted more than Rs 400 crore at the ticket counters.

Actors Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt welcomed their first child- a baby girl on November 6. Paparazzi spotted Grandmother Neetu Kapoor, who was at Mumbai&rsquo;s Reliance Hospital for much of the day and questioned her about actor-daughter-in-law Alia Bhatt and the newborn baby&rsquo;s health.
The veteran actor replied that the mother-daughter was doing &lsquo;absolutely fine.' Paps then asked her what name has been decided for the baby, and she responded, 'not decided yet.&rsquo;
Director Ayan Mukerji also visited the new parents in the hospital. The 'Brahmastra' director was spotted leaving the hospital.
Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor made an official announcement about the arrival of their newborn through an Instagram post. Alia's post read, 'And in the best news of our lives, our baby is here, and what a magical girl she is. We are officially bursting with love, blessed and obsessed parents, love love love Ranbir and Alia'. The post received immense love from friends and fans. Akshay Kumar, Sonam Kapoor, and Rakul Preet Singh were among many to wish the couple as they embark on a new journey.
Ranbir and Alia tied the knot on April 14, 2022, and announced their pregnancy in June.

Brahmastra can provide a break in this code with an earnest attempt at Bollywood-ising an astraverse. 'BRAHMĀSTRA' – the Trilogy, is a 3-part film franchise and the beginning of India’s first original universe The Astraverse.
'BRAHMĀSTRA: PART ONE', is the story of SHIVA (Ranbir Kapoor) – a young man, who is on the brink of scripting his epic love story with Isha (Alia Bhatt). But their world turns upside-down as Shiva unravels his mysterious connection to the 'Brahmāstra' while attempting to get a grip on his power of fire (Agniastra).
The writer-director, Ayan Mukerji, has got one thing absolutely right in 'Brahmastra' -- its casting. The film features Amitabh Bachchan, Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Nagarjuna Akkineni, and Mouni Roy. Watching Shah Rukh Khan on the big screen itself is a treat even if it's a cameo.
In the acting department, Ranbir Kapoor is effortless and impactful. He pours a concoction of sincerity and vulnerability into his scenes in the right measure. Alia Bhatt looks stunning and her on-screen chemistry with Ranbir Kapoor feels real and adorable. Nagarjuna Akkineni as Nandiastra makes a powerful presence on-screen albeit for a short duration.
The film Brahmastra's power emanates from Amitabh Bachchan. His screen presence and his baritone voice are simply mesmerising. He is a perfect guru and a perfect performer within the industry and in film too! Mouni Roy as Junoon gets good screenspace and has done a commendable job.
'Brahmastra' is not flawless. It does take a few minutes for the audience to connect as the film accelerates and thaws in parts. This does disconnect you at times with the flow of the script but holistically, it keeps building a narrative to give birth to the next part of the series. The director doesn't invest overtime in dealing with the love story between Shiva and Isha which may create a fissure in fan reaction. Background scores, VFX, and action scenes are the strongest points of the film.  Fortunately, the songs in the film don't act like a speed breaker. Kesariya has become the love anthem of 2022 and stays with you even after the film.
The makers should have invested more time in developing and offering a few impactful dialogues for the lead characters. When it is a "universe" and mythology-based film series, it pays to have dialogues that the audience would remember even after leaving the screening.
Overall, this film has been crafted for the movie-theatre-loving audience to experience a visual treat. Though it will draw a stiff and unmatched comparison with masterpieces like 'Baahubali' or films from the Marvel universe, 'Brahmastra' does show Bollywood is trying to make worthy, risky bets in the technical department as much as storyline and narration.
This review is a conscious effort to not indulge in spoilers. Therefore, there are certain parts and scenes we have not talked about.  But there are certain crumbs left by the makers across the film which gives the audience a chance to guesstimate what's in store in the next part.

In an exclusive interview with Dainik Bhaskar, the ‘Shamshera’ actor said, ‘These days, we are reading a lot where people are discussing the budget of the film. People are saying this much is the budget and this much is the recovery. But Brahmastra is unique being where the budget is not just for one film but for the whole trilogy.’ 
Talking about the budget and profit of the film. The actor added, ‘So, the assets we have created for the film, like the fire VFX or effects for other superpowers, they will be used in three films. So, it’s not like the figures floating around, whether it’s hundred rupees or two hundred rupees, are correct. It’s all wrong. The economics of this film is not like the economics of other films that have been made in our industry. Now, we can easily go into part 2 and part 3. With part 1, Ayan had to learn how to make this kind of a film.’ 
Earlier, Kangana Ranaut alleged the filmmaker Karan Johar, trade analysts, and others of duping the box office numbers and questioning its budget she asked how can it be ‘hit’.

‘Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva’, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, released in theatres on September 9 and it has smashed box office records with its collections.  Director Ayan Mukerji took a long time to release this fantasy action-adventure, but its sequel will be back on the screen, sooner.
Fan theories about how its sequel, titled Brahmastra: Part Two – Dev, will move forward are already doing the rounds on the internet. Netizens are speculating if Hrithik Roshan, Ranveer Singh or Ranbir Kapoor will play a dual role – that of son Shiva and father Dev in the forthcoming film. 
Now, in an interview with indianexpress.com, the filmmaker disclosed details about the ‘Brahmastra’ sequel and said that it will narrate Dev’s backstory as well as continue the present-day timeline.
‘I can answer very few things about Dev. The idea was to create a very clear indication about where we are going next with the storytelling. That now we are really getting into the story of our antagonist. Decoding it, giving you some hook to hang on to for part two. Dev is the fulcrum of the entire Brahmastra trilogy,’ Ayan said.
‘The problems that this community and the world will face because of Brahmastra, what is the real stress with it. All of this will actually unfold in Dev’s story. His story is meant to take us back into his past but also he has returned into the present. So, the idea is, we will be continuing the present story, but also telling you the story of the past,’ he added.
Ayan Mukerji said he will announce who will be portraying the role of Dev when the time is right and he is targeting to release the second installment of ‘Brahmastra’ in 2025. He hopes teachings from making a VFX-heavy part one will pay off for its sequel. 
‘We have our target. We would like to make this film and have it come out three years from now. It is a tough timeline for us considering how much time part one took. But now we have also learnt how to make these kinds of films,’ he said. 
Ayan also mentioned that the script is ready and it has gone through several rewrites and revisions to ensure it is splendid.
‘Part two script has been on since the time we started part one. This was always one story. The thread is ready. We have already put in a lot of work into part two. We have written and rewritten because we had time, COVID had happened. There have been many months of part two work. We already have a lot of stuff on part two. But of course, I will look at it once part one is settled,’ he said.
Ayan Mukerji further stated that the film will go on floors the day they are rested from part one.

Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor starrer ‘Brahmastra’ is just one day away to hit the theaters. Ayan Mukerji’s directorial has created a huge buzz for obvious reasons, it is one of the most anticipated films of 2022. Alongside Alia-Ranbir it also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Mouni Roy, and Nagarjuna Akkineni in pivotal roles. Additionally, Shah Rukh Khan will make a cameo appearance. according to the reports, Alia's father and director Mahesh Bhatt will be skipping the private screening of ‘Brahmastra’.  An ETimes source revealed, "Mr Bhatt plans to go and watch the film with the audience. He has decided to buy a ticket and watch this special film on his own and not at an industry or private screening. He wants to experience the film with the people."   Mahesh Bhatt returned to the direction seat after a gap of 19 years with 'Sadak 2' starring his daughter Alia Bhatt, Sanjay Dutt, Aditya Roy Kapur, and others.   Meanwhile, Ayan Mukerji's directorial ‘Brahmastra’ is set to be released on September 9, 2022, in four other languages – Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam. ‘Brahmastra: Part One– Shiva’ is bankrolled by Star Studios, Dharma Productions, Prime Focus, and Starlight Pictures. It is one of the most expensive Indian movies to date and is said to have cost over Rs 400 crore to make.

At the event, Ranbir was questioned about the general air of negativity about Bollywood and if he felt Hindi films were being targeted unfairly. To this, the actor replied that he didn’t feel any negativity about his film ‘Shamshera’ and said it all boils down to content. ‘If the film didn't run at the box office, it's only because the audience didn't like the film. Eventually, it's about the content.‘If you make a good film, enertain people, of course they will go to the cinema and watch your films. They want to feel that different emotion, connect with characters and get entertained. So, if a film doesn't work, it is not for any other reason but because the content is not good.
