Veteran actor Asha Parekh has once again spoken in favor of Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone starrer &lsquo;Pathaan.&rsquo;
She said the film needs to have a &lsquo;smooth release&rsquo; which will help revive Bollywood&rsquo;s &lsquo;low phase.&rsquo;
In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, the Dadasaheb Phalke award winner said, &lsquo;Our industry has never gone through such a bad phase. I&rsquo;ve been part of it for more than sixty years. I have never seen such a low phase in the history of the industry. Pathaan needs to be released without any hindrance.&rsquo;
She also added that Yash Raj Films has &lsquo;suffered a series of blows&rsquo; and that they &lsquo;can&rsquo;t afford another one.&rsquo;
YRF releases like Shamshera, Samrat Prithviraj and Jayeshbhai Jordaar could not do well on the box office.

Amid ongoing controvery over Pathaan, the future of the film which is slated for be released on January 25 remains unclear.

Veteran actor Asha Parekh has recently opened up about the ongoing controversy over &lsquo;Pathaan&rsquo;s song &lsquo;Besharam Rang&rsquo;. The actor said that we are becoming too close-minded, which is wrong.
In an exclusive conversation with Aaj Tak, the actor was questioned about the negativity that the Bollywood industry is facing on the internet, to which she said, &lsquo;This is very wrong, a film is a film. Which is mostly about entertainment. If an actress wears orange, or the name is different, you start banning it? It doesn't look good.&rsquo;
She added, &lsquo;If people continue to boycott films on top of this, then it harms the industry as it hinders more films from being made.&rsquo;
The actor concluded, &lsquo;It was not an uproar on the bikini, it was the orange colour of the bikini that was being questioned. I think that our brain is going off. We are becoming too close-minded, which is wrong. Bollywood is always a soft target.&rsquo;
&lsquo;Pathaan&rsquo;s first song &lsquo;Besharam Rang&rsquo; sparked controversy as it showed lead star Deepika Padukone dancing alongside Shah Rukh Khan in a saffron bikini. There have been protests in various parts of the country alleging that the song&rsquo;s content hurts the sentiments of Hindus.

Many celebrities marked their attendance to celebrate Dilip Kumar&rsquo;s 100th birth anniversary. Waheeda Rehman, Asha Parekh, Divya Dutta, Shabana Azmi, and Ramesh Sippy were among the others present at the event.&nbsp;
The film festival has been organized by the Film Heritage Foundation. In the two days, Dilip Kumar&rsquo;s critically acclaimed movies, including Aan (1952), Devdas (1955), Ram Aur Shyam (1967), and Shakti (1982), will be screened in over 30 cinema halls and 20 cities across the country.&nbsp;
Earlier, talking about the same Saira Banu told news agency PTI, &lsquo;They could not have chosen a more apt title to commemorate India&rsquo;s greatest actor &mdash; &lsquo;Dilip Kumar Hero Of Heroes&rsquo;. He was my favourite hero from the time I was 12 years old when I first saw him in &lsquo;Aan&rsquo; in technicolor. Veteran actor Asha Parekh recently attended the ongoing 53rd International Film Festival of India in Goa. During a session, she said that she finds it hurtful that Indian women prefer to wear western dresses and gowns for their weddings instead of traditional dresses.
&lsquo;Everything has changed. The films that are being made. I do not know, we are so westernised. Gowns pehen ke wedding pe aa rahi hain ladkiyan. Arre bhaiya, humari ghaghra choli, saariyan aur salwar-kameez hai aap wo pehno na. Why don&rsquo;t you wear those?&rsquo;(Why don&rsquo;t they wear our ghagra choli, saree and salwar-kameez), she wondered.

The 53rd edition of the International Film Festival of India is all set to take place from November 20 to 28 at Panaji in Goa. Three films of Dadasaheb Phalke awardee Asha Parekh will be screened as a retrospective at the upcoming film gala. Spanish filmmaker Carlos Saura will also be felicitated with the lifetime achievement honour at the event.&nbsp;
 National Film Development Corporation of India managing director Ravinder Bhakar said that Asha Parekh suggested three of her favourite movies - &lsquo;Teesri Manzil&rsquo;, &lsquo;Do Badan&rsquo; and 'Kati Patang&rsquo;. He is also the director of the National Film Archive of India (NFAI).&nbsp;
 Spanish director Carlos Suara will be honoured with the Satyajit Ray Lifetime Achievement Award at the IFFI. Eight of his films, including La Caza del Conejo and Ana Y Los Lobos, will be screened at the event.&nbsp; Five Manipuri films, including Ishanou (The Chosen One) and Ratan Thiyam &ndash; the Man of the Theatre, will also be showcased to mark 50 years of Manipur in cinema.&nbsp;
 Kannada film &lsquo;Hadinelentu&rsquo;, directed by Prithvi Konanur, will open the feature section of the Indian Panorama, the flagship component of the IFFI. &lsquo;The Show Must Go On&rsquo; by Divya Cowasji will kickstart the non-feature film section. Pan Nalin&rsquo;s Gujarati film &lsquo;Chhello Show&rsquo; (The Last Film Show), India&rsquo;s official entry to the Oscars in the best international film category, and Madhur Bhandarkar&rsquo;s India Lockdown will also have special screenings at the festival.&nbsp;
 Other popular films like &lsquo;Drishyam 2&rsquo;, &lsquo;Goldfish&rsquo;, &lsquo;Bhediya&rsquo; will be premiered.&nbsp;
 According to Information and Broadcasting Secretary Apurva Chandra, the 53rd edition of the festival is important as it is the first chapter to be organised in-person after the shadow of the COVID-19 pandemic.&nbsp;

The best actor award is shared between Suriya and Ajay Devgn.
Actor Suriya received the Best actor award for ‘Soorari Pottru’ and his wife and actor Jyothika received the Best Feature film award for the same. ‘Soorarai Pottru’ won in three of the four major award categories at the award ceremony.  
Ajay Devgn received the National Award for Best Actor for 'Tanhaji: The Unsung Hero'. This is his third time thay he has won the coveted award. He said, ‘I’m elated to win the Best Actor Award for Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior at the 68th National Awards along with Suriya, who won for Soorarai Pottru. I thank everyone, most of all my creative team, the audience and my fans. I also express my gratitude to my parents & the Almighty for their blessings. Congratulations to all the other winners.’ 
Sachidanandan KR won Best Director for the Malayalam film ‘AK Ayyappanum Koshiyum’, the second major award for the film.

National Film Awards: Ajay Devgn, Suriya share the Best Actor Award

Veteran actor Asha Parekh will be conferred with the Dadasaheb Phalke award for 2020, the highest recognition in the field of Indian cinema, Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Anurag Thakur confirmed on Tuesday. This award is India's highest award in the field of cinema. She has been honoured with the award for her outstanding contribution to the Film Industry. She was also awarded the Padma Shri by the Government of India in 1992 for her services to the cinema.    The official Instagram account of Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival posted the same with a caption that read, ‘Congratulations to Asha Parekh for winning the award for Outstanding Contribution To Film Industry at Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival Awards2022. Your hard work and perseverance have paid off. Team DPIFF wishes you good luck in your future endeavors.’    Asha Parekh is considered as one of the most influential actresses of Indian cinema. The 79-year-old actor is best known for films such as ‘Dil Deke Dekho’, ‘Kati Patang’, ‘Teesri Manzil’, and ‘Caravan’.     The Dadasaheb Phalke award is presented every year at the National Film Awards ceremony by the Directorate of Film Festivals, a Ministry of Information and Broadcasting body.

Veteran actor Asha Parekh&nbsp;is reportedly upset with the invasion of privacy&nbsp;after pictures of her private vacation with&nbsp;Waheeda Rehman and Helen went viral on social media.
Stating how the trio was&nbsp;shocked when photos of their private vacation landed online, Asha said&nbsp;more than her, Waheeda Rehman and Helen were upset as they are far more private people than her.
