With the popularity of ChatGPT, a lot of fake apps claiming to be based on ChatGPT have surfaced on both the App Store and the Google Play Store. These apps trick users by asking for payment for a product that is typically free. An app named "ChatGPT Chat GPT AI with GPT-3" was downloaded tens of thousands of times before it was removed from the Play Store. This app also required payment of $49.99 for ad-free usage. As there is currently no official app for ChatGPT, it is important to be careful when downloading apps claiming to be based on the chatbot.

Now you no longer have to get up to take your debit/credit card to buy apps or subscriptions from your App Store!
Apple has stopped accepting card payments, both debit and credit, for subscription payments and app purchases done with Apple ID in India. 
Apple's support page listing the available payment methods in each country it operates shows that the company currently only supports netbanking, UPI, and Apple ID balance as the three options to receive payments.
Move comes after the new auto-debit rules from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) that came into force last year and are disrupting recurring online transactions.

Apple says the update is due to "regulatory requirements in India"

You&nbsp;can no longer&nbsp;add your Indian debit or credit card to your Apple account for subscription payments and app purchases, why? Because of the new auto-debit rules from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) that came into force last year and is disrupting recurring online transactions.
"Regulatory requirements in India apply to the processing of recurring transactions. If you hold an Indian debit or credit card and you have a subscription, these changes impact your transactions. Some transactions might be declined by banks and card issuers," the company&nbsp;said&nbsp;on its support page detailing the update.

According to market intelligence firm App Annie, smartphone users spent a record $32 billion on apps in the first quarter of 2021. The report says that users spent around $9 billion more on mobile games and apps in Q1 2021 as compared to Q1 2020, with growth on both Android and iOS up by 40% year-over-year. Moreover, app downloads saw an increase as well, with both platforms registering a combined spike of 10% to 31 billion.
