Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap has responded to actor Divya Agarwal&rsquo;s public request on Instagram asking him for work. Agarwal on March 15 had posted a video on Instagram saying that she wants to work with Kashyap and feels no shame in asking for an audition on a public platform.&nbsp;
The video was captioned, &lsquo;This is an open letter to @anuragkashyap10 (with heart emoji) Call me stupid I&rsquo;m going to say it anyway ! Kaam Mangungi sabke saamne mujhe koi sharam nahi ! #hopeful #grateful.&rdquo; In the video, she said, &ldquo;I want to do the kind of work that you do.&rsquo;&nbsp;
The actor in an interview to India Today revealed that the filmmaker had replied to her saying he is humbled by her video message and will reach out to her for future projects. Divya said that his text read, &lsquo;Humbled by this. Will reach out for future projects.' &nbsp; In the video, Divya said she has worked for 15 years in the industry, and has been getting work but now she wants to work with Anurag Kashyap as she finds him &lsquo;relatable.&rsquo;&nbsp;

Speaking with Mid-Day, Anurag said, 'People are coming back to the cinema and people are coming back and dancing on screen. People are euphoric about the movie. There is euphoria and this euphoria is beautiful. This euphoria was missing. This euphoria is also a socio-political euphoria, like making a statement.'
He added, 'The man with the strongest spine, the most resilient and integrity who has kept quiet through everything, has spoken. He has spoken onscreen with his work. It is beautiful. He spoke loudly on screen. I understand what he teaches, Speak with your work, and don't talk unnecessarily. He is who he is and you can see why.'

Anurag Kashyap said, ‘The day the unfortunate incident happened of SSR, I felt so bad. Three weeks prior to that somebody was trying to reach out because he wanted to talk, and I was like, ‘No, he ghosted me, I don’t want to talk.’’

In an interview with Showsha, Anurag talked about Abhay and Sushant and said, &lsquo;It&rsquo;s taken me a year-and-a-half of sickness to realise a lot of things. I was so reactive; I would say things. I would say things out of anger, out of reaction, to things I felt perturbed by. It took me time to realise that I&rsquo;m shouting, I&rsquo;m shouting in a room full of people shouting. Nobody&rsquo;s listening to each other, not just to me. That&rsquo;s what social media has become. And I stepped back. I said, &lsquo;Why am I reacting to this? What is bothering me?&rsquo;&rsquo;
He added that a lot has changed, and he has realized that he doesn&rsquo;t need to tell everything. &lsquo;A lot has changed, but I know I have no filter. But it&rsquo;s also made me realise I don&rsquo;t need to say everything&hellip; For example, that whole spat between me and Abhay. Somebody was doing an article about why a very good actor like Abhay is no longer in the movies, and I spoke about my experiences, something that happened 13 years ago. I didn&rsquo;t need to say it publicly. And the day the unfortunate incident happened of SSR, I felt so bad. Three weeks prior to that somebody was trying to reach out because he wanted to talk, and I was like, &lsquo;No, he ghosted me, I don&rsquo;t want to talk&rsquo;. You get pangs of guilt. So, I tried to reach out to Abhay and I apologised to him, because somebody had told me that he was upset about me speaking publicly about him.&rsquo;
On the work front, Anurag Kashyap&rsquo;s last film was &lsquo;Dobaaraa&rsquo; that starred Taapsee Pannu and Pavail Gulati. His next project is &lsquo;Almost Pyaar With DJ Mohabbat&rsquo; that stars Alaya F and newcomer Karan Mehta.

A day after actor Abhay Deol recently called Anurag Kashyap 'a liar' and 'toxic person' during an interview, the filmmaker has responded to his statements. He shared he was ready to apologise again.
The duo had worked together on the cult classic &lsquo;Dev D&rsquo; (2009. In a 2020 interview, Anurag had claimed that working with Abhay had been a &lsquo;painfully difficult&rsquo; experience.
Abhay, who is currently being praised for his role in Netflix web series &lsquo;Trial By Fire&rsquo;, said in an interview had indicated that Anurag shared a bunch of lies regarding his attitude and privilege as a Deol during the making of &lsquo;Dev D&rsquo;. Calling the filmmaker &lsquo;a liar and a toxic person&rsquo;, Abhay said that he would warn people about him.

At the trailer launch of his next film, &lsquo;Almost Pyar With DJ Mohabbat&rsquo;, in Mumbai, the director was asked if PM Modi&rsquo;s caution to party workers will help decrease anti-Bollywood sentiment. Kashyap said, &lsquo;It would have made a difference if he (PM Modi) had said this four years ago, I don&rsquo;t think it will make any difference now. It was about controlling their own people. I think things have gone out of hand now, it&rsquo;s not that anybody will listen to anyone. When you empower prejudice with silence, when you empower hatred with silence, it has become so powerful by itself that it has become (their) strength, that mob is out of control.&rsquo;
The filmmaker has often expressed his views on the on-going boycott Bollywood trend. In an earlier interview with The India Express, Kashyap had said, &lsquo;We are living in very strange times. Two years later, Sushant Singh Rajput still trends everyday. These are strange times, where everything is to be boycotted. It is not just one side, it is happening across. Everyone is being boycotted: political parties, Indian cricket team, everyone. This country now has a boycott culture. if you are not being boycotted, then you don&rsquo;t matter.&rsquo;
Zee Studio&rsquo;s Shariq Patel who is distributing the film under the corporate banner, welcomed PM Modi&rsquo;s statement, and said, &lsquo;I think der aaye durust aaye. We&rsquo;re happy that such a statement has been made. It was actually Anna, Suniel Shetty, who spoke about it first in the meeting with Shri Yogi ji when was in Mumbai a few weeks ago. I&rsquo;m happy it has happened because nobody was able to make sense of why it (Boycott Bollywood) has been happening. But now that the honorable Prime Minister has said it, I hope it at least slows down. We make films to entertain, sometimes they end up getting made well, sometimes they don&rsquo;t but that&rsquo;s ok. But it is good, it is laudable and the industry is happy about it.&rsquo;
&lsquo;Almost Pyar With DJ Mohabbat&rsquo; is written and directed by Anurag Kashyap. It stars Alaya F and Karan Mehta. The film is scheduled to be released in theatres on February 3.

The trailer of 'Dobaaraa', starring Tapsee Pannu has finally been unveiled.  The trailer started with Taapsee and her family knowing that they are staying in the place where nearby a boy was murdered. From here the story proceeds, thriller and suspense begin. A remake of the 2018 Spanish movie ‘Mirage’, ‘Dobaaraa’  gives a glimpse of the story of how during a thunderstorm, the Taapsee faces odd circumstances. The movie also stars Rahul Bhat and Pavail Gulati. The film is directed by Anurag Kashyap and produced by Ekta Kapoor.
 This is a new-age thriller that reunites Tapsee and Anurag for the third time.
‘Dobaaraa’ will be screened at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) on August 12. The film will release in Indian theatres on August 19.

The film narrates the story of a woman who gets the opportunity to save the life of a boy who witnessed a death during a thunderstorm 26 years ago. She connects with him through a television set during a similar storm in the present.
&lsquo;Dobaaraa&rsquo; is a remake of the 2018 Spanish movie &lsquo;Mirage&rsquo;, starring 'Money Heist' actor &nbsp;&Aacute;lvaro Morte.

Javed Akhtar has recently shared what he feels about the boycott culture. Since the cuylture started, many celebrities have put forward their views on the same. The veteran screenwriter and lyricist feels that it’s just a passing phase. In an interview with ETimes, he said, ‘It is a passing phase. It is very evident that it doesn’t work. If the film is good and is appreciated by the audience, it will work.’ 
He further added, ‘If it is not good and not appreciated by the audience, it won’t work. I don’t think this kind of announcement of cancel culture and boycott works at all.’ 
During this boycott trend, Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan starrer 'Laal Singh Chaddha' had to face bad performance at the Indian box office. 'Brahmastra,' 'Vikram Vedha,' 'Pathaan' have also faced the consequences.  
Earlier filmmaker Anurag Kashyap had also talked about the trend and said he is not affected by it as his films do not go beyond Rs 32 crore. He said only those whose movies cross Rs 100 crore are affected by the recent trend.

Taapsee Pannu and Anurag Kashyap had asked the netizens to boycott their movie Dobaaraa in a recent interview. The duo had made the statement jokingly but looks like the audience took it quite seriously and didn’t turn up on the first day of the film. #BoycottDobaaraa was already trending on Twitter.  
As per the reports, the early estimates for the movie are Rs 0.60 crore in India. There was only 2-3% occupancy in the theatres on day one, reportedly. As per reports, many early shows of the movie were also cancelled. 
A film trade analyst Sumit Kadel wrote on Twitter ‘#Dobaaraa is off to a DISASTROUS start at the box office, film is registering merely 2-3% occupancy while many early shows are getting canceled due to NO AUDIENCE..(sic).’ 
Anurag Kashyap and Taapsee had made the statement in a fun way as they wished to be boycotted the same way as Aamir Khan’s Lal Singh Chaddha and Akshay Kumar’s ‘Raksha Bandhan’ were boycotted.  
In an interview with Pinkvilla, Anurag talked about how he was used to the boycott. He said, ‘I am used to it. It affects those who's films do over Rs. 100 crore. My films have not even gone beyond Rs. 32 crore.’ He further added, ‘I have been boycotted since the time Twitter started.’  In same interview with the portal, Taapsee told, ‘I feel out of place when even biggies are being boycotted. Who wouldn't want to be in the league of Aamir Khan and Akshay Kumar? Please boycott us too. Don't leave us.’  Dobaaraa is a Hindi adaptation of Spanish film Mirage which featured Alvaro Morte, the popular character Professor from Netflix’s Money Heist.

According to reports, &nbsp;the occupancy in theatres has been only 2-3 percent which is way below expectations.

Now, in a conversation with Hindustan Times, Vivek said that Anurag's comment 'wasn&rsquo;t hurtful' as he has 'faced worse criticism'.&nbsp;
'These people have been running a campaign against me for many years. In this case, it was a wrong precedent. This is ethically wrong. You can share your preference, but why are you saying which film shouldn&rsquo;t go (to the Oscars)?,' he said.
The director said that he has 'never looked up to the Oscars', but he is speaking up because it's important to defend the film.He further listed a few points that made him upset about Anurag Kashyap&rsquo;s comment. He asked, 'If somebody is saying it (The Kashmir Files) shouldn&rsquo;t go to the Oscars, the first question is: Why is he so scared of the film? Second: Why doesn&rsquo;t he want the stories of Hindu genocide to be told to the world? Thirdly, is he a genocide-denier?&rdquo;
