Samsung confirms February Unpacked event, teases S22 Ultra with Note features

Samsung has confirmed that it will host a launch event in February, widely expected to see the launch of the Galaxy S22 series. In a press release authored by company president TM Roh, Samsung confirms that the Unpacked event in February will see the launch of ‘the most noteworthy S series device ever created’.

The ‘noteworthy’ here is significant, because the Galaxy S22 Ultra is widely expected to be a spiritual successor to the Galaxy Note series. The press release explicitly states: “We know many of you were surprised when Samsung didn’t release a new Galaxy Note last year,” and “we haven’t forgotten about these experiences you love.”

Samsung promises that with the Galaxy S22 Ultra, users will be able to ‘take the best and brightest photos,’ ‘dominate the day with power, speed and tools,’ and ‘enjoy cutting edge innovations.’

Galaxy S22 Ultra specs

On the specs front, the Galaxy S22 Ultra is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 or Exynos 2200 chipsets, depending on region. It could come with 8GB and 12GB RAM options.

For optics, the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra may come with a quad rear camera setup, with a 108MP primary camera. It may also feature a 12MP ultrawide, and two 10MP telephoto lenses with 3x and 10x zoom support respectively.

The device may sport a 6.8-inch QHD+ AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. Samsung may also pack in a 5,000mAh battery with 45W fast charging support.
