Nothing Phone (2a) sneak peek: Leaked test unit reveals fresh design and specs

The Nothing Phone (2a) is a new Android phone expected to be a notable player in the mid-range phone category. Recently, it received the BIS certification, indicating its imminent entry into the market. This article provides a concise overview of its design, specifications, and anticipated launch details.

Nothing Phone (2a) Design Features

Tipster Yogesh Brar has shared insights into the Nothing Phone (2a) after observing its prototype. The images he revealed show a design with a central punch-hole for the selfie camera and flat edges.

The back of the phone is interesting, with horizontally placed dual cameras, a change from the vertical camera setup in previous Nothing models. Although the Glyph LED lights were not visible in the images, they are expected to be part of the design, similar to previous models.

Nothing Phone (2a) Specifications (Expected)

Based on the leaked images and industry rumours, the Nothing Phone (2a) is likely to have a 6.7-inch AMOLED display. It's speculated that the phone could support a 120Hz refresh rate. The processing power might come from the MediaTek Dimensity 7200 chipset, paired with options like 8GB RAM and 128GB storage.

Camera-wise, a 16MP front camera and a 50MP primary rear camera are expected. The battery might be the largest among Nothing phones so far, but exact details are still unknown. The phone is likely to run on Android 14.

Nothing Phone (2a) Camera Design and Animation

An interesting aspect of the Nothing Phone (2a) is its unique camera design. Developer Dylan Roussel highlighted this in an animation video, showing horizontally aligned dual rear cameras.

This design marks a departure from conventional vertical camera setups. The phone also features LED glyphs around the camera area, adding to its unique design. Roussel confirmed that the phone would use the MediaTek Dimensity 7200 chipset.

Nothing Phone (2a) Price and Launch in India

The Nothing Phone (2a) launch date in India is expected around MWC 2024, likely in February. The price range in India is anticipated to be between Rs 25,000 and Rs 30,000. This pricing positions the Nothing Phone (2a) as an attractive option in the mid-range phone market.

Wrap Up

The Nothing Phone (2a) is shaping up to be a significant addition to the Android phone market, especially in the mid-range segment.

Its unique camera design, robust MediaTek Dimensity 7200 performance, and compatibility with Android 14 make it a promising option. The tech community eagerly awaits more details as its launch date approaches.
