Google Play Movies & TV shutting down! Are your movies safe? Check full details

Google is discontinuing the Google Play Movies & TV app to streamline its entertainment offerings. The focus is now on the Google TV app and Android TV as the primary platforms for watching movies and TV shows.

Google Play Movies & TV shutting down! Are your movies safe? Check full details

Google is making some big changes to its movie and TV apps. The company has decided to shut down the Google Play Movies & TV app. This means you won't find this app on your devices anymore.

Instead, Google is focusing on the Google TV app and using Android TV as the main platform for watching movies and TV shows.

The Shutdown of Google Play Movies & TV App

The Google Play Movies & TV app is going away. Google has already started to remove it from different places like Roku and smart TVs. If you used this app on Android or iOS, you're probably using the Google TV app now. Google wants to make things simpler, so they are getting rid of the old app.

Transition to Google TV and Android TV

Now that the Google Play Movies & TV app is being shut down, Google is pushing users to use the Google TV app. This is part of Google's plan to make their entertainment services better.

They also made Android TV the main way to watch and buy movies and TV shows in 2022. This means Google TV and Android TV are going to be the main apps for movies and TV on Google devices.

How to Find Your Movies and TV Shows

Even though the Google Play Movies & TV app is going away, you won't lose the movies and TV shows you bought. If you have Android TV, you can find your stuff in the 'Your Library' section of the Shop Tab.

If you're using a web browser or a set-top box with Android TV, you can watch your movies and TV shows on YouTube.

Why This Change Is Happening

Google is doing this to make its entertainment apps better and easier to use. This is similar to what Apple did with its TV app, where you can watch Apple TV Plus and also rent or buy other shows and movies. By focusing on Google TV and Android TV, Google is trying to make things simpler for users in the long run.
