In her message, she said, &ldquo;On the auspicious occasion of Buddha Purnima, I extend my heartfelt greetings and best wishes to all fellow citizens and the followers of Lord Buddha all over the world.&rdquo;
Underscoring the universality of Buddha&rsquo;s message, the President stated, &ldquo;The immortal message of non-violence, love and kindness given by Bhagwan Buddha, the embodiment of compassion, is the basic mantra for the welfare of mankind. His ideals strengthen our faith in eternal values of equality, harmony and social justice. His teachings inspire us to live a life based on morality.&rdquo;
She further urged everyone to live by his teachings. &ldquo;Let us adopt the ideals of Bhagwan Buddha in our lives and contribute in building a peaceful, harmonious and developed Bharat,&rdquo; the President added.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami conducted an inspection of the Gram Panchayat Devipura in the Banbasa area of Champawat district on Saturday.
During his visit, locals raised concerns about severe erosion caused by the Sania drain and the presence of crocodiles in the water body, which has created widespread fear and insecurity in the region, according to an official statement.
Taking immediate cognizance of the issue, CM Dhami instructed officials from the Forest and Irrigation Departments to act without delay. Acting on his directives, a JCB machine was deployed within an hour, and the drain cleaning work was swiftly initiated and completed by the Irrigation Department.
Emphasising the urgency of addressing such risks, Dhami said, "The safety of the public is paramount, and the administration should take prompt and effective action to deal with such dangers." He further directed authorities to carry out regular monitoring to ensure the drain remains safe and well-maintained.
Later, the Chief Minister also inspected the road leading to the India-Nepal border in Banbasa. Residents of Devipura expressed their gratitude for his swift response and thanked him for prioritising their safety.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday said a glimpse of the valour of the BrahMos missile was seen during Operation Sindoor and if that was not enough, one should ask Pakistanis about it.
He also said the time has come to deal a crushing blow to terrorism and to achieve it, the entire country has to unite under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the BrahMos Aerospace Integration and Testing Facility here, Adityanath said, "What is the BrahMos missile? You have seen a glimpse of the valour of the BrahMos missile during Operation Sindoor. And if the glimpse was not visible, then ask Pakistanis about the strength of the missile." Adityanath said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has declared that any incident of terror will be considered as a war. "Until we completely crush terrorism, there will be no solution to this problem. The time has come to crush it and for this, entire India, in one voice, has to unite under Modi's leadership," he added.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader said terrorism is a "dog's tail" that can never be straightened. "Terrorism will not follow the language of love. We have to give a reply to it in its own language. And in this direction, India has given a message to the world through Operation Sindoor," he said.
Adityanath congratulated Modi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and the armed forces' personnel for the success of Operation Sindoor.
"It is necessary for any self-reliant country to achieve its goals on its own, instead of depending on other countries for its defence supplies. Israel is an example of this. It has achieved the goal of self-reliance in the field of security. It has forced its neighbouring enemy countries to face tough times," he said.
The chief minister said the Defence Manufacturing Corridor and the BrahMos missile are part of the target set for the country by Modi in 2014. He said in 2018, the prime minister had announced two defence corridors in the Union Budget.
"After the government was formed again at the Centre in 2019, Rajnath Singh, as the defence minister, organised the Defence Expo in Lucknow for the first time in 2020. He had also announced then that a production unit of BrahMos missiles will be set up in Lucknow," Adityanath said.
He said the target for Uttar Pradesh was to invest Rs 50,000 crore in six defence-manufacturing corridors and provide employment to one lakh youngsters.
"So far, along with the Defence Expo, we have signed 57 MoUs with companies from different parts of the country and the world, through which investments worth about Rs 30,000 crore are going to be made in the defence sector. We are moving ahead with the target of providing employment to about 60,000 youngsters," he said.
Drawing a comparison with the previous Samajwadi Party (SP) government in Uttar Pradesh, Adityanath said while there were no jobs before 2017 and people were migrating, the state is witnessing investments now.
"Earlier, companies had problems coming here because there was no policy and no security. Today, people are safe, their investments are safe and we are moving ahead with strength to meet the country's security needs. We have the required infrastructure now," he said.
The chief minister asserted that his government will facilitate any defence production-related programme.
On the occasion, a book, titled "Brahmand", on defence production was released.
Adityanath also handed over appointment letters to those selected by BrahMos Aerospace. A replica of the BrahMos missile was presented to the chief minister, according to an official statement.
Deputy Chief Ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak, Industrial Development Minister Nand Gopal Gupta Nandi, Rajya Sabha MP Brajlal, Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Singh and senior officials of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and BrahMos Aerospace were present on the occasion, the statement said.

The National Commission for Women has strongly condemned the online trolling of Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, his family, and particularly his daughter media in the wake of India and Pakistan reaching an understanding on May 10 to halt all military actions.
In a statement issued by NCW Chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar, the panel denounced the sharing of the young woman's personal contact details, calling it a "grossly irresponsible act" and a "serious breach of privacy" that endangers her safety.
Rahatkar stressed that personal attacks on the family members of senior civil servants like Misri are not only unacceptable but also morally indefensible.
Calling for restraint and respect in both online and offline spaces, the NCW urged citizens to rise above such behaviour. "Let us choose dignity and responsible conduct," Rahatkar added.
The Misri family has also received support from veteran diplomat Nirupama Menon Rao and politicians Asaduddin Owaisi and Akhilesh Yadav.
"It's utterly shameful to troll Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri and his family over the India-Pakistan ceasefire announcement. A dedicated diplomat, Misri has served India with professionalism and resolve, and there is no ground whatsoever for his vilification.

Even Islamic countries like Saudi Arabia and the UAE have backed and Pakistan stands isolated globally, Patra claimed, adding that India has shown that no part of the neighbouring country is beyond its reach.
To a question about the vicious trolling of Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri by a section of right-wing activists after India and Pakistan agreed to stop military actions, Patra said his party respects everyone, be it armed forces or bureaucrats, associated with the operation.
Social media is a tool but it cannot be a basis for the country to decide its course of action, he added.
Misri was forced to make his account on X private, restricting access to only confirmed followers, after he and his family members were targeted by trolls.
Patra said India can say with pride that Operation Sindoor met its target 100 per cent and lauded the national unity behind the armed forces action.
Not only did India kill over 100 terrorists across nine terror sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, its subsequent action in retaliation to Pakistani response destroyed 11 air bases in the country, he said.
In one of these attacks on air bases, over 50 Pakistani soldiers were killed, he claimed, adding that for the first time a country destroyed the air bases of a nuclear-powered nation.
He said Pakistan has lost under Operation Sindoor nine terror sites, 11 air bases, over 100 terrorists, 50 soldiers and its honour.
The BJP leader said India and Pakistan have arrived at an understanding to stop military actions but India will break it in case of future terror attacks.

Earlier, the cabinet minister reviewed the development work of the 'Ditch Drain,' which runs through Lehragaga city and was long infamous for filth and ugliness, which is now being transformed into a public promenade. The work is nearing completion and will soon be dedicated to the public, the Cabinet Minister informed.
During the inspection of the construction work, he said that the drain passed through the heart of Lehragaga and people living along its banks faced pitiable conditions. In fact, many houses were built over the drain itself and were in a dilapidated state. Due to the surrounding filth, there was a constant risk of accidents. There had been a long-standing demand from the public for attention to be given to this issue.&nbsp;
Barinder Kumar Goyal informed that now two pipes, each 4.5 feet wide, have been installed in the drain to ensure smooth water flow. Initially, this was a Rs.15 crore project, but due to departmental integrity, it was tendered at Rs.12 crore, resulting in a saving of Rs.3 crore for the state's people.
He said that the project began about a month ago and is progressing rapidly toward completion. The 3-kilometer-long and 32-foot-wide drain is being paved with 15-foot-wide interlocking tiles. Grills will be installed along the sides, along with modern grass and plants. He said that the area, once avoided by everyone, is now being developed into a scenic walkway. To maintain it, three employees will be appointed, he added.
Local residents expressed that in the past 40 years, not a single rupee had been spent on this drain, nor had anyone come to inspect it. Now, however, people are coming here regularly for morning and evening walks.&nbsp;
The cabinet minister assured that rainwater will no longer be allowed to accumulate in slum areas and will be directed into the drain. He said that Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann's Punjab government is committed to the development of both villages and cities. He said that no effort will be spared in beautifying and developing the city.&nbsp;

An eight-year-old boy among two people drowned while bathing in river Ganga in Uttar Pradesh&rsquo;s Farrukhabad on Monday, police said.
People had come to take a dip in the river on the occasion of Buddha Purnima this morning. While bathing, they went into the deep water and some of them started drowning and screaming for help, they said.
The boatmen went into the river and took out Aashiq and Abhishek Katiyar (24), both residents of Farrukhabad district, and took them to the district hospital where the doctors declared them dead, Kadrigate SHO KK Kashyap said.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed grief over the loss of lives.
In a post on X in Hindi, UP Chief Minister Office said, "CM Adityanath has expressed deep condolences on the loss of life in Farrukhabad district. He expressed his condolences to the bereaved families of the deceased. He also prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured."

To thank Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi for doubling the income of cultivators, state BJP Krushak Morcha will organise mega farmers&rsquo; rallies across the state from Tuesday.
According to the Morcha, Majhi has been tirelessly working for farmers' welfare since taking oath in June last year. Morcha president Maheshwar Sahu on Monday said the rallies will be held at Chandbali in Bhadrak district on May 13, Karanjia in Mayurbhanj district on May 15, Jagatsinghpur on May 17, Angul on May 18, Subarnapur on May 20, Bhawanipatna in Kalahandi district on May 22, Rayagada on May 26, Bhanjanagar in Ganjam district on May 28, Sundargarh on May 30 and Dhenkanal on May 31.
He added that Majhi and Food Supply and Consumer Welfare Minister Krishna Chandra Patra will participate in these events.
"Several other dignitaries, including state and central ministers, MPs, MLAs, and senior BJP leaders will also attend the rallies," he said.
"Majhi has ensured that farmers receive Rs 3,100 per quintal as the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for paddy. While the central government fixed the MSP at Rs 2,300, the state government provided an additional Rs 800 per quintal", Sahu added.
The Morcha also lauded the state government for the smooth procurement of 74 lakh metric tons of paddy from 17 lakh farmers during the Kharif season.
"This initiative is a groundbreaking step toward improving the financial status and morale of farmers," Sahu said.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday extended his support to residents affected by recent shelling from Pakistan in the Poonch district, emphasizing the urgent need for constructing bunkers to protect the local population.
The Poonch district witnessed the highest number of casualties, with 20 out of the total 27 fatalities occurring since Wednesday. Additionally, over 50 people have been injured following India's Operation Sindoor, which targeted nine terror infrastructures in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) in response to the April 22 Pahalgam attack that resulted in 26 casualties.
Accompanied by his advisor Nasir Aslam Wani and MLA Ajaz Jan, Abdullah visited Poonch to assess the regions most impacted by the shelling. He met with families who lost loved ones, including those of Amarjeet Singh and Amrik Singh, and expressed his condolences.
During his visit, locals briefed the Chief Minister about the challenging conditions they face. Abdullah's primary aim was to offer support and comfort to the grieving families, according to his team.
In the Surankote area, Abdullah interacted with residents relocated to safer places due to the shelling. He received updates from Minister Javed Rana on the administrative measures underway.
The Chief Minister highlighted the critical need for bunker construction to bolster the safety of border residents. He also plans to visit Rajouri to further assess the situation.
In a positive development, the night passed peacefully in Jammu and Kashmir, with no reports of cross-border firing&mdash;the first such occurrence in recent days. This calm follows an agreement between New Delhi and Islamabad on Saturday to immediately cease military actions, after four days of intense cross-border drone and missile strikes.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami visited the site of the ongoing four-lane road project leading to the Nepali dry port along the India-Nepal border at Banbasa on Sunday.&nbsp;
During his visit, the Chief Minister checked the progress of the construction and provided necessary instructions to ensure the quality of work and adherence to the project&rsquo;s timeline.
In a statement, Dhami emphasized the significance of this road, stating, "This road to be built from Banbasa to the Nepal border is very important from a strategic, business, and defense perspective. Its construction work is being carried out by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI)."
The project, which involves the construction of a 3.06 km long road, has already seen 7.28 hectares of land being transferred to NHAI. The initial approval for the project was granted at Rs 177 crore, but due to geographical and technical challenges, the estimated cost is expected to increase by Rs 80 crore, potentially bringing the total budget to Rs 250 crore. The work, which began in March 2023, was initially scheduled to be completed by 2024, but due to natural disasters, including floods, it is now expected to be finished by 2027.
The project includes the construction of a flyover, a major bridge, and two smaller bridges. Dhami further noted that this road would enhance international trade and movement in the India-Nepal border region. He directed the officials to ensure that the construction proceeds swiftly and meets the required standards of transparency and quality.
