Watch: Dubai creates fake rain to beat the heat

Do you think technology is making the impossible possible? Well, this will definitely make you believe so.

Scientists in the United Arab Emirates are working towards new methods of weather manipulation in an attempt to get some respite from the heat and bring increased rainfall to the desert country —and so far, it appears the efforts have been successful.

The UAE's National Center of Meteorology recently published a series of videos on Instagram of heavy rain in Dubai. Trees swayed in the wind, and cars drove on rain-soaked roads bringing much relief to the city that was at one point sweltering at 50 degrees C. The videos were accompanied by radar images of clouds with "#cloudseeding."

The cloud seeding method employed in Dubai relies on drone technology. The drones are sent into the clouds where they release electric charges to produce precipitation that ultimately leads to rain.

Dubai receives an average rainfall of just 4 inches in a year
