While researchers in Hungary were trying to save the Russian sturgeon from extinction, they accidentally ended up creating the 'sturddlefish'! The new species is a hybrid between a Russian sturgeon and an American paddlefish. These 'fossil fish' species belong to two different parts of the world and have never been bred before. Researchers shared with the New York Times that they never wanted to play with hybridization.
