Sharp launches Aquos R6 flagship smartphone with Leica-branded 1-inch camera sensor

Sharp has launched the Aquos R6 flagship smartphone in Japan. The headline feature of the phone is its optics. Although it has only one camera at the back, it sports a 1-inch 20MP sensor, the largest ever seen on a smartphone.

Sharp has also partnered with Leica for the lens, which can even shoot ultrawide pictures due to its 19mm focal length.

The Sharp Aquos R6 is powered by the Snapdragon 888, and sports a 6.6-inch near-QHD OLED display with a variable refresh rate up to 240Hz, and a peak brightness of 2,000 nits, also the highest on any smartphone.

Sharp has packed in 128GB of storage, 12GB of RAM, and a 5,000mAh battery. No details on pricing were announced.
