Punjab CM's urgent appeal to Centre to evacuate '200 Sikhs stuck in Afghanistan Gurudwara'

Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh made an urgent request to the Centre to evacuate 200 Sikhs stuck in a Gurudwara in Afghanistan as the return of the Taliban sparked fear and unrest.

The CM said his govt is willing to extend any help needed to ensure their safe evacuation as sought Foreign Minister S Jaishankar's support.

Amarinder Singh, earlier on Sunday had said Afghanistan's ‘fall’ to the Taliban 'does not augur well' for India.

Scenes of turmoil have emerged raising concerns about the safety of foreigners as well as locals. Sixty nations including US, UK & Australia call on Taliban to allow safe passage for Afghans.

Hours after Taliban captured Afghanistan's capital Kabul, the airspace was closed on Monday, aggravating the crisis as desperate people sought help to fly out of the country.
