Drug used for treating arthritis could help lower risk of mortality from Covid: study

Mar 06, 2021 11:11 IST | By Editorji News Desk

Tocilizumab, a drug used to treat arthritis, could help lower risk of mortality caused due to Covid-19, according to a new study published in The Lancet Respiratory Medicine.

The study was India’s first multi-centre randomized controlled trial on the use of the drug to treat Covid-19.

It stated that the arthritis drug was found to be safe as the reported adverse events did not differ between patients who received the drug and those who received just standard care.
