The Centre asked all states and Union territories to take stock of their healthcare infrastructure as India reported its highest single-day spike in 70 days. The country reported 16,764 cases on Saturday morning.

It has advised states and union territories to set up makeshift or field hospitals and constitute special teams to monitor patients in home isolation as increase in Covid-19 cases will lead to additional stress on the existing healthcare infrastructure.
