Wrestlers' Protest: Delhi Police agrees to file FIR against former WFI Chief Brijbhushan Sharan Singh

The Delhi Police has agreed to file an FIR against former WFI Chief Brijbhushan Sharan Singh over sexual harassment allegations by women wrestlers.

Earlier, the Delhi Police had delayed filing a case, stating they needed more time to investigate following which the wrestlers made a plea to the top court.

The wrestlers had approached the Supreme Court for an urgent hearing into their request seeking a case against Singh and in response, the Supreme Court had issued a notice to Delhi Police.

A bench led by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud had said then, "There are serious allegations made in the petition by wrestlers who have represented India in international games about sexual harassment meted out to them. The matter requires consideration by this court."

The court had set a date for Friday, when Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, who was representing Delhi Police in the Supreme Court, confirmed that an FIR will be lodged against the BJP MP by Friday evening itself.

The wrestlers have been protesting against the former WFI chief at Delhi's Jantar Mantar since last Sunday, demanding action from the authorities.
