Earlier, players could only review dismissals based on the onfield decisions but now the DRS can be used to review no-balls & wide calls by the umpires.

DRS reviews allowed for wide & no-ball calls in WPL & IPL

In a first for cricket, players can now use DRS to review the wide & no-ball decisions made by the onfield umpire.

The modification to the DRS rule is already being tried in the WPL and will also be implemented in the upcoming IPL season.

With each team getting a couple of DRS reviews in each innings, they can now use them to get an umpire's decision overturned regarding wides & no-balls. Earlier, players could only review dismissals based on onfield decisions.

Mumbai Indians already used the new rule during the opening match, when they got a wide call overturned during spinner Saika Ishaque's spell.

In Delhi Capitals vs RCB match, batter Jemimah Rodriques successfully reviewed a full toss call which was not signalled a no-ball earlier.
