Varun Aaron Appointed Sunrisers Hyderabad Bowling Coach 2026

Former India pacer Varun Aaron becomes Sunrisers Hyderabad's bowling coach for the 2026 IPL season, succeeding James Franklin. Known for his speed, Aaron's cricket career was curtailed by injuries. Following retirement, he moved to commentary before embracing this coaching role.

Varun Aaron Appointed Sunrisers Hyderabad Bowling Coach 2026

Hyderabad, Jul 14 (PTI) Sunrisers Hyderabad have made a significant addition to their coaching staff by appointing former India pacer Varun Aaron as the bowling coach for the 2026 IPL season. Aaron takes over the reins from former New Zealand left-arm pacer James Franklin. The team officially welcomed Aaron through their announcement on their X account, stating, “A fiery addition to our coaching staff! Welcome Varun Aaron as our new bowling coach.” Varun Aaron represented India in nine Tests and nine ODIs from 2011 to 2015. His last competitive appearance was in a Vijay Hazare Trophy match for Jharkhand against Goa in Jaipur on January 5 this year. Following Jharkhand's inability to advance to the knockout stages of the domestic 50-over tournament, Aaron decided to retire from playing. The 35-year-old made headlines early in his career as a speedster capable of consistently delivering over 150 kmph, which caught the attention of national selectors. At that time, the management was keen on nurturing Aaron alongside fellow fast bowler Umesh Yadav. While Umesh went on to play over 50 Tests, Aaron's career trajectory was hindered by frequent injuries, keeping him mostly on the sidelines. After retiring, Aaron transitioned into a television pundit role before his recent appointment with Sunrisers Hyderabad in his new coaching capacity.
