TATA IPL 2023 RR vs RCB: Bangalore thump Rajasthan by a massive 112-runs in Jaipur

RCB gave their playoffs hopes a big boost as they beat Rajasthan Royals by a massive 112-run margin in Jaipur on Sunday.

Deciding to bat first, RCB lost opener Virat Kohli (18) right after he and his opening partner Faf du Plessis stitched up an opening 50-run stand.

However, it was Faf du Plessis (55) and Glenn Maxwell (54) who stepped up and put up a 79-run stand to take RCB right on track for a good total on the board.

But wickets in quick succession saw Bangalore struggle at 137/5 in 17.3 overs.

Anuj Rawat's 29-run cameo helped the side post a respectable total of 171/5 in the end.

In reply, it seemed as if Rajasthan openers had left their batting form back in the dressing room as both Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jos Buttler were sent back to the pavilion on a duck courtesy of Wayne Parnell and Mohd Siraj.

Skipper Sanju Samson (4), Padikkal (4), and Joe Root (10) saw themselves losing their wicket within the powerplay as well, leaving Rajasthan bamboozled at 28/5 in 5.3 overs.

Shimron Hetmyer did try to play catch up in the end and top-scored for the home side with 35 runs.

However, he couldn't turn the tides in RR's favour as a spectacular bowling display by Wayne Parnell (3), Michael Bracewell (2) and Karn Sharma (2) saw the RCB bowl out the Royals at just 54 in the end.

This was the joint-third lowest total in IPL history.
