Roger Binny succeeds Sourav Ganguly to become 36th president of the BCCI

Roger Binny, the member of India's 1983 World Cup-winning team, was on Tuesday appointed as the 36th president of the BCCI. He succeeded Sourav Ganguly to take up the top job, which was officially announced at the BCCI AGM in Mumbai.

67-year-old Binny was the only candidate to have filed a nomination for the BCCI president's post. Reportedly, it was also decided at the AGM that the board would field no candidate for the top post in ICC. Rather, they would be backing Greg Barclay for the chairman position.

Binny was serving as the Karnataka State Cricket Association chief and will now leave his position in the state body to over as the BCCI head.
