Shimla, Nov 3: Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu announced on Monday a cash award of Rs 1 crore for pacer Renuka Singh Thakur, who played a crucial role in India's victorious Women's World Cup cricket team. Renuka hails from the Rohru area of the Shimla district.

Addressing reporters, the Chief Minister applauded the historic achievement of India's daughters in winning the World Cup and extended his congratulations to the entire team and its captain.

The Indian women's cricket team triumphed over South Africa by 52 runs in the tournament final held in Navi Mumbai on Sunday.

Additionally, the Chief Minister personally called Renuka to congratulate her on her stellar performance. He commended her exceptional bowling skills, noting her ability to keep the opposition under pressure throughout the match.

"I watched the final match, and you delivered an extraordinary performance. The state is immensely proud of you," Chief Minister Sukhu told Renuka. He also assured her of a job as a further token of recognition for her achievements.
