Gothenburg Golf Update: Pranavi Urs Tied 21st at Hills Open

Gothenburg (Sweden), Aug 25 (PTI) - Indian golfer Pranavi Urs faced a setback in her quest for a top-15 finish at the Hills Open due to a late double bogey in the final round, culminating in a tied 21st position.

Pranavi, recovering steadily from an injury, played a solid 2-under 69, bringing her total to 4-over for the week at the Hills Golf & Sports Club, concluding the tournament on Sunday. She managed four birdies on the seventh, eleventh, twelfth, and fourteenth holes, showcasing a promising performance until the par-4 seventeenth hole posed a challenge with a double bogey. The conditions on the back nine added to the difficulty.

Hitaashee Bakshi ended tied 41st with a round of 71, amassing a total of 7-over, while Sneha Singh's final round of 76 saw her slip to tied 47th place. Meanwhile, Indian golfers Tvesa Malik, Amandeep Drall, Avani Prashanth, and Vani Kapoor did not make the cut.

Swedish amateur Meja Ortengren achieved a significant milestone by securing her maiden Ladies European Tour (LET) title on home soil, finishing two shots ahead of her competitors. The 20-year-old Stanford University student thrilled the home crowd by starting the day tied for the lead with Germany’s Leonie Harm and despite facing two late bogeys and a double bogey, managed a 1-under 70 finish, ending the week at 6-under.

Ortengren's name now joins the ranks of England’s Lottie Woad and Jana Melichova, who achieved victories as amateurs in the 2025 KPMG Women's Irish Open and the 2022 Czech Ladies Open, respectively. She recorded five birdies, allowing her lead to shrink to a single shot heading into the eighteenth hole, but confidently closed with a birdie putt.

Trailing two shots behind her were Sweden’s Lisa Pettersson and Germany’s Leonie Harm, both finishing at four-under par. Sweden’s Ingrid Lindblad and France’s Nastasia Nadaud tied for fifth place with scores of two-under par. England's Alice Hewson, highlighted by a birdie finish, ended in solo seventh place.

The LET tour is now on a brief hiatus before resuming at the Aramco Houston Championship, scheduled to take place at the Golfcrest Country Club from September 5-7.
