Indian Golfer Pranavi Urs Returns for Women's Scottish Open

Ayrshire (Scotland), July 23 (PTI) — After overcoming an injury that sidelined her since May, Indian golfer Pranavi Urs is set to make her comeback at the prestigious USD 2 million ISPS Handa Women’s Scottish Open, which tees off at Dundonald Links this Thursday.

Pranavi is joined by fellow Indian golfers Diksha Dagar and Tvesa Malik, while rookies Avani Prashanth and Hitaashee Bakshi were unable to qualify for the event.

Having claimed the Hero Women’s Order of Merit in India back in 2022 with an impressive five victories during the season, Pranavi has become a regular contender on the Ladies European Tour and was notably India's top golfer in 2024.

This season, she delivered commendable performances with Top-15 finishes at the Ford NSW Open in Australia and the Investec SA Women’s Open, and also advanced through the cut at Aramco Korea. However, a wrist injury forced her withdrawal after the first round at the Dutch Ladies Open in mid-May, causing her to miss subsequent events. She currently holds the 81st position on the Order of Merit.

Diksha Dagar, in contrast, is enjoying an excellent season. It began with a runner-up finish at the Lalla Meryem Cup and she has accrued four additional Top-10 finishes, along with two more in the Top-15, putting her at 13th on the Money List.

In the opening rounds, Pranavi will be paired with Switzerland’s Kim Metraux and Spain’s Fatima Fernandez Cano, while Diksha will compete alongside China’s Miranda Wang and Korea’s Sei Young Kim. Tvesa Malik will play alongside China’s Weiwei Zhang and Norwegian Dorthea Forbrigd.

The 2025 ISPS HANDA Women’s Scottish Open marks the ninth edition since gaining co-sanctioning with the LPGA Tour and the fourth time Dundonald Links serves as the venue.

This year, a diverse field of 144 players hailing from 32 different countries will participate in the 72-hole stroke play event, with a cut to the top 65 players and ties after 36 holes. The competition features entrants from both the LET and LPGA, vying for a share of the expansive USD 2 million prize fund.

Notable among the competitors are past champions such as Lauren Coughlin (2024), Ayaka Furue (2022), Ariya Jutanugarn (2018), and Mi Hyang Lee (2017). Additionally, three major champions from 2025 are present, including Sweden’s Maja Stark, recent U.S. Women’s Open winner, and Australian golfers Minjee Lee and Grace Kim. Eleven LET winners from the ongoing 2025 season also embellish the tournament’s lineup.
