Wrestlers' protest: 'If found guilty...' Brijbhushan speaks after grapplers' ultimatum for his arrest

Hours after Sakshi Malik, Vinesh Phogat and Bajrang Punia deferred their decision to immerse their medals in the Ganga river, ex-WFI chief Brijbhushan Sharan Singh spoke to reporters in Lucknow regarding the ordeal.

‘An FIR was filed at the behest of the wrestlers, the investigation is underway. Whatever they are upto now, I can’t do anything about it,’ Singh said.

He added, 'They went to immerse their medals in the Ganga river today but instead of giving them away to the Holy River, they handed over their medals to Naresh Tikait, this is their stand, I can’t do anything about it.'

He also addressed a question about impending WFI elections stating that they are due so they will be held.

The wrestlers, who were detained by Delhi Police on May 28, have repeatedly demanded that Brijbhushan be arrested.

The Olympic medallists have accused the BJP MP of sexually harassing several women wrestlers, including a minor.

When asked about the grapplers' demands Singh said, ‘My tenure with the Wrestling Federation of India is over. The police are investigating the matter and if I’m found guilty, I will be arrested. What is the problem then?’
