In a highly anticipated announcement, both Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Titans have officially confirmed the return of Hardik Pandya to the Mumbai franchise for the 2024 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL).&nbsp;
Pandya, a key player in Mumbai Indians' triumphs in four out of five IPL seasons from 2015 to 2021, had ventured to the Gujarat Titans, leading them to victory in their inaugural season in 2022.
Despite the Titans reaching the IPL final last year, the team faced an unexpected setback with the departure of their captain. Speculations arose, suggesting that Mumbai Indians would need to match the Titans' substantial annual fee of Rs 15 crore to secure Pandya's return in the mega auction. The deal also involved the transfer of Australian all-rounder Cameron Green from Mumbai Indians to Royal Challengers Bangalore.
In a joint statement released on Monday, both teams shed light on the decision to release Pandya. Vikram Solanki, the Director of Cricket for the Titans, acknowledged Pandya's significant contributions and stated, "As the first captain of Gujarat Titans, Hardik Pandya has played a pivotal role in delivering two fantastic seasons, resulting in winning one IPL championship and reaching the final. Pakistan's Azam Khan faced a 50% fine of his match fees for displaying Palestinian flag on his bat.

In the National T20 tournament in Karachi, Azam Khan, the middle-order batter for Karachi Whites, faced a 50% fine of his match fees. The penalty was imposed for violating clothing and equipment regulations by displaying an "unapproved logo", in this case, the flag of Palestine, during a game against Lahore Blues. Azam scored 35 runs before being summoned by match referee Mohammad Javed.
A reliable source confirmed to Geo News that Azam had indeed been fined, shedding light on the breach of the ICC code of conduct. The flamboyant batter had been warned earlier not to showcase the flag on his bat. Despite the warning, Azam argued that all his bats had identical stickers.
The ICC regulations explicitly prohibit players from displaying messages with political, religious, or racial undertones on their clothing or equipment. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), as a signatory to these rules, confirmed that Azam was charged with violating these regulations.
PCB sources revealed that Azam had used the same sticker in two previous National T20 Cup games without facing any warnings.
However, during the recent match, the breach was addressed, resulting in a fine.
This incident follows Pakistan's cricket team expressing solidarity with Palestine during the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup in October.&nbsp;
At that time, questions were raised by Indian fans and cricket experts regarding the permissibility of such political gestures in the tournament. The PCB dismissed objections, asserting that the team's expression of solidarity was a personal decision.

Australia eliminated Finland in the last four this year. The Aussies are 28-time champions but haven't lifted the trophy at men's tennis top team event since captain Lleyton Hewitt was on the winning squad as a player in 2003.
&ldquo;There hasn't been another nation that's gone back-to-back in the last two years, so we are showing a pretty good effort collectively,&rdquo; De Mi&ntilde;aur said.
"We are very, very close. It stinks like hell. We'll be back. We'll get this. I mean, we've got a very, very strong future ahead of us.&rdquo;
Australia this year became just the second nation to win 200 Davis Cup ties, with the United States being the other.
Matteo Berrettini was not in the Italian team because of an injury but he was in Malaga supporting his countrymen.
&ldquo;Thanks to Matteo,&rdquo; Sinner said.
&ldquo;He has had a very tough year (with) a lot of injuries. For all of us, that he came here, it means a lot. He gave us a lot of positive energy.&rdquo;
The final 8 of the Davis Cup Finals will stay in Malaga for another year.
Spain was awarded a wild card Sunday for the group stage in Valencia. This year's finalists, Italy and Australia, also go straight through to the group stage in September. So does Great Britain, which lost to Serbia in the quarterfinals.
The women's Billie Jean King Cup Finals will remain in the southern Spanish city of Seville next year.&nbsp;
