Amid claims that a morphed picture of protesting wrestlers was being shared on social media, some netizens conducted an analysis of the viral image.
The controversy began with athlete Bajrang Punia on May 28, 2023, sharing two images of fellow protesting wrestlers Vinesh and Sangeeta Phogat. One showed the Phogat sisters smiling while being detained by police, and the other showed them sitting seriously.
YouTuber Dhruv Rathee claimed that artificial intelligence software was used to alter the photograph. He said that the morphed image can be easily recognised since AI gives people perfect-looking teeth.
Another social media user compared the allegedly morphed photo with older pictures from Vinesh Phogat's Instagram. He claimed that the AI photo showed Vinesh with prominent dimples as she smiles. But other photos of Vinesh do not show any dimples in her cheeks, he said.
Another person named Uzair Rizvi, who claims to be an AFP journalist, posted a video as a tutorial of how AI can be used to put smiles on faces in photographs. He tweeted that he used an application named FaceApp to alter the image. For the demonstration, he used the same viral photos of Vinesh and Sangeeta Phogat.

In response, Punia tweeted on May 29 that the wrestlers are standing in the open. He dared the former IPS officer to tell the protestors where they would be shot and added that they would not turn their backs.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) revealed the appointed match officials for the highly anticipated World Test Championship (WTC) final between India and Australia.
The prestigious match, set to take place at The Oval in London from June 7th to 11th, will have Richard Illingworth of England and Chris Gaffaney from New Zealand as the on-field umpires.
The ICC's press release confirmed the selection of Illingworth and Gaffaney as the esteemed umpires for this monumental clash. Additionally, June 12th has been designated as a reserve day to compensate for any potential time lost during the scheduled five days of play.

Chelsea have hired Mauricio Pochettino as manager, tasking the Argentine coach with getting the best out of an expensively assembled squad that has underperformed at the start of a new era for the English club.
Pochettino will take up the role on July 1, Chelsea said, after agreeing to a two-year contract, with the club having the option of keeping him on for a further year.
It is Pochettino&rsquo;s first coaching role since leaving Paris Saint-Germain in July last year and marks his return to the Premier League, where he had an impressive 5 1/2-year spell with Tottenham that included a run to the Champions League final.
Pochettino had been widely expected to take the Chelsea job, which is considered one of the most high-profile positions in European soccer.
He is the permanent successor to Graham Potter, who was fired in March after nearly seven months in charge. Frank Lampard has led the team on an interim basis since then and the team finished the Premier League in 12th place.
