The Rameshbabu siblings are now first pair of siblings in the history to achieve the title of Grandmaster.

Vaishali Rameshbabu achieved a historic milestone on Saturday, becoming India's third female Grandmaster by surpassing a remarkable 2500 rating during the 2023 IV Llobregat Open.
This accomplishment also cements the Rameshbabu siblings, with her younger brother Praggnanandhaa, as the first-ever Grandmaster pair of siblings in the history of chess.
While Praggnanandhaa's rapid ascent to become the second-youngest Grandmaster in 2018 captured much attention, Vaishali's own stellar achievements have now come to the forefront.
At 22 years old, she has emerged from the shadows, adding another layer to the family's chess legacy.
Vaishali's journey includes attaining the titles of Woman International Master at 15, Woman Grandmaster at 17, and International Master at 20.
Vaishali joins an exclusive club, being only the third female Indian Grandmaster, following in the footsteps of Koneru Humpy and Harika Dronavalli. Her accomplishment marks India's first female Grandmaster in 12 years, after Dronavalli achieved the title in 2011.
The momentous occasion occurred during the 2023 IV Llobregat Open on December 2, where Vaishali's exceptional skills and determination shone brightly.&nbsp;

Rinku blazed away to a 29-ball 46, while Jitesh Sharma, playing his first match in the series, smashed 35 in 19 balls as the hosts made a challenging 174 for nine before restricting Australia to 154/7 to help India take an unassailable 3-1 lead in the five-match rubber.
"Well I have been playing for a long time. I have been playing in the IPL for 5-6 years now. So, that has given me the confidence. I back myself, try to keep myself calm," said Rinku in a chat with Jitesh on BCCI.tv following the 20-run win here on Friday.
Jitesh conceded he was under a lot of pressure when he came in to bat and marvelled at Rinku's composure.
"It didn't look like that this was your (Rinku) first series. I was under a lot of pressure when I can in to bat, you were so calm, picking and choosing the ball to hit," Jitesh told Rinku.
Wicketkeeper-batter Jitesh, who came in place of Ishan Kishan on Friday, also thanked Rinku for helping him keep calm.
"You kept telling me to take it easy and not to take pressure," Jitesh told Rinku.
Jitesh and Rinku played fine cameos when India were struggling at 111 for 4 in the 14th over.
Rinku, asked about the secret behind his towering 100-metre sixes, said, he regularly goes to the gym.
"I like lifting weights which gives me the power (strength)," said Rinku.

However, he acknowledges that his priority lies with the Copa America. The 36-year-old previously indicated that the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, where he led Argentina to their third title, would likely mark his farewell. Yet, he's now considering the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Mexico, and Canada, relishing his time with Argentina.
In an interview with ESPN, Messi stated, "I'll continue playing with Argentina as long as I feel good and can maintain my performance. My focus now is on reaching the Copa America and playing in it."&nbsp;

Days after the Board of Control for Cricket in India revaled that India's premier pacer Mohammed Shami is receiving medical treatment, it was reported that the 33-year-old is suffering from an ankle issue.

Star pacer Mohammed Shami has developed an ankle condition, which currently requires medical attention, as the Indian team management will hope that he regains fitness in time for the first Test against South Africa starting from December 26 at Centurion.
Shami's name has been kept in the Test squad with a star mark and the BCCI media release stated that he "is currently undergoing medical treatment and his availability is subject to fitness." However, there was no specific information on the nature of the injury as to whether he suffered it on the field or more fitness related.
But it has been learnt that Shami was in Mumbai to consult a sports orthopaedic to diagnose his ankle condition.
"It is not exactly an on-field injury. It is an ankle condition that has developed. Shami came to Mumbai to consult the doctors. He will also go to NCA for rehab and recuperation work.
"The national selectors wouldn't have selected him had there not been a chance of him getting fit in time for the Boxing Day Test," a BCCI source, privy to the development, told PTI on conditions of anonymity.
Shami didn't appear in the first four matches of the recent ODI World Cup due to the team composition requirements.
He got a chance to play in the fifth match after Hardik Pandya tore his left ankle ligament trying to stop a powerful shot on his follow-through in the match against Bangladesh.
Shami ended up getting 24 wickets in seven games and was one of the biggest reasons behind India's sustained dominance for 10 straight games in the showpiece before losing the final to Australia.
"Shami, in fact, came to watch one of Bengal's Vijay Hazare Trophy games as his younger brother Mohammed Kaif is also playing. He seemed to be walking with a slight limp," a Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) source said.
It will be interesting to note whether Shami would play the three-day intra-squad match between India Seniors and India A squads, which is a tune-up for the Tests.
It is also learnt for the time being, Shami won't play white ball games as there are seven Test matches, including five against England at home and the 'Amroha Express' is expected to play a big role in the sub-continental conditions where the ball reverses a lot.
Whether Shami will play next year's T20 World Cup will depend on how he fares in the Indian Premier League, where he has had two good seasons for the Gujarat Titans.

Nadal had said then that he hoped to compete in 2024, which he expected to be his final season.

Put to bat first, openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad &nbsp;gave the side a healthy start. However, wickets at regular intervals saw the team struggle at 111-4 at 13.2 overs.

As per ESPN Cricinfo, franchises have been sent a list of 1166 players, who have registered for the auction.
There are 77 slots up for grabs and 30 of them would be overseas players. The 10 teams can collectively spend Rs 262.95 crore.
New Zealand's Rachin Ravindra, who made everyone stand up and take note with his batting exploits during the World Cup, is priced at Rs 50 lakh but he is expected go at least 15 if not 20 times more than his base price.
Surprisingly, former India batter Kedar Jadhav, who is well past his sell-by-date has also kept his base price at Rs 2 crore along with Umesh Yadav, whose India Test career has all but ended.

Union Youth Affairs &amp; Sports Minister Anurag Thakur reacted to wrestlers threatening to immerse their medals in river Ganga and said that the grapplers should wait for Delhi Police to conclude their investigation.
'They should not take any steps that may cause harm to the sport or aspiring wrestlers. We all are in favour of the sport and sportspersons,' added Thakur.

Following Team India's World Cup final loss against Australia in Ahmedabad, Rahul Dravid has reportedly blamed the pitch conditions for his side's dismal batting average at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
According to reports, Dravid was asked to explain in a private meeting with BCCI secretary Jay Shah and other officials as to what were the factors that led to his side failing to win the final in front of a packed home crowd on November 19.
Answering to the board, Dravid apparently said that the batters failed to give their best because of the unfavourable pitch conditions.

Speaking on Nadir Shah&rsquo;s podcast, Junaid said "I have taken wickets of so many batsmen but people always remember Virat Kohli&rsquo;s wicket. We have played in the U-19 World Cup, we knew each other. It was my comeback series and I was playing against India for the first time."
"I got Kohli in the first match and he told me it will not happen again. I got him again in the second and third match. Before the third ODI at the breakfast table, I told him 'Virat you will not be spared today.&rsquo; Younis Khan was also there. He said get him out again today. Younis bhai took Virat&rsquo;s catch,&rdquo; said Junaid.
Junaid has dismissed the Indian star on 3 different occasions in a total of just 24 deliveries, conceding just 3 runs.

A day after Rafael Nadal posted a video on social media to announce his return to tennis, organisers of Brisbane International confirmed on Saturday that the Spaniard will indeed play in the Queensland state in the first week of the new season.

Speaking to reporters in Brisbane, tournament director Cam Pearson said, 'We are thrilled that he has chosen Brisbane as a place to return to tennis.'

Nadal said in his video, "After one year outside of the (ATP) tour, I think it is the right moment to be back. I have been working hard and feeling much better the last couple of weeks, so I'm ready to announce that I will be back in Brisbane."
