Nikhat&nbsp;had a stupendous outing in the final as the Telangana boxer out-punched her Thai opponent to win via unanimous verdict with judges scoring the bout 30-27, 29-28, 29-28, 30-27, 29-28 in her favour.

This is India&rsquo;s first gold medal in four years. Mary Kom (48kg) had won the last title in 2018.
 Such was her dominant performance in the boxing world that the 25-year-old boxer won all her bouts in the World Championship with a unanimous decision.
 Notably, six-time champion MC Mary Kom, Sarita Devi, Jenny RL, and Lekha C are the only other Indian women who have won the world boxing championship title in the past.

The Asian Games that were scheduled to begin on September 10th, later this year in China's Hangzhou have been postponed due to the resurgence of Covid-19 cases in China, the Olympic Council of Asia announced. No new date has been announced by the OAC committee. Hangzhou is less than 200 km away from China's biggest city Shanghai, which has seen been registering a record number of Covid-19 cases in the past few weeks. The city is currently under a severe lockdown due to the outbreak. Hangzhou would have become the 3rd city to host the Asian Games after Beijing and Guangzhou.The organisers had last week rehearsed the strict bio-bubble in a test event for the Asian Games. However, OCA decided to postpone the games in its recently held executive meeting. The organisers had finished constructing 56 competition venues. Further, the emblem and the name of the 19th Asian Games will remain unchanged, the OCA said adding that the games will achieve success through the joint efforts of all the parties.

Former South African batter AB de Villiers and retired tennis star Ashleigh Barty are set to team up for the inaugural Icons Series golf event in Jersey City USA.

The former Royal Challengers Bangalore batter and the 25-year old tennis star will be representing Rest of the World team. 28-time Olympic medalist Michael Phelps, football hall of famer Michael Strahan and former professional boxer Oscar de la Hoya will be seen playing for Team USA in the event.
Notably, former World no.1 Ashleigh Barty retired in March while 38-year old AB de Villiers retired from international cricket in 2018 and from cricket entirely last year. 
The event is scheduled to play in Jersey City from June 30 to July 1.

Dahiya defeated Kazakhstan&rsquo;s Rakhat Kalzhan 12-2 by technical superiority in the men&rsquo;s 57 kg category to win the gold medal at Asian Championships 2022. The Olympic medalist had won the gold medals at the Asian Championships in the 2020 and 2021 editions of the tournament.
With 1 gold, 4 silver and 10 bronze medals, India has won 15 medals in Asian Wrestling Championships 2022 and is currently placed 5th at the medal table. &nbsp;

Celebrated boxer Nikhat Zareen who recently won the World Championship Gold in Istanbul has weighed in on the significant controversy surrounding girls wearing headscarves or hijab in educational institutes. While speaking to NDTV, Nikhat said that the choice of attire for anyone should be entirely personal.

The 25-year-old Telangana based boxer said, "It is totally their own choice. I can't comment on their choices. I have my own choice. I like to wear such clothes. I don't mind wearing such clothes. My family doesn't mind me wearing such clothes. So, I don't care what people say about me. 
In a 2013 interview, Nikhat revealed that coming from a conservative Muslim community resulted in both father and daughter getting castigated. Zareen now talking about the Hijzb row which erupted in Karnataka over girls wearing headscarves to schools and colleges said, "If they want to wear hijab and follow their religion, it's their personal choice. I don't have any problem with them wearing hijabs. After all, it's their own choice. I am okay with that."

India have done the unthinkable to winning Badminton's biggest team championship, Thomas Cup title for the very first time after Lakshya Sen, Satwik/Chirag and Kidambi Srikanth exemplary performances in the final against 14-time champions Indonesia. 
Chief National Coach for the India national badminton team, Pullela Gopichand said that India's success at Thomas Cup 2022 is bigger than the Indian Cricket team winning the 1983 World Cup.

The undefeated German boxing champion, Musa Askan Yamak has died from a heart attack during a bout against Uganda boxer Hamza Wandera on Sunday in Munich.
Yamak was hit by a heavy blow from his opponent in the second round but he continued to fight. The tragic incident took place during the third round when he collapsed suddenly. The medical team rushed to the ring to save him but couldn't help the boxer and he died aged just 38.

Turkish-born Yamak turned professional in 2017 and gained fame after winning the WBFed International title in 2021.

In 2019, legendry Mary Kom had thrown a very infamous question when she had to undergo the Olympic trial after the then 21-year-old boxer had fought her way for ‘fair trials’. Though, the young pugilist was taken down very easily by the 6-time World Champion, today Nikhat Zareen, the World Champion has successfully broken the glass ceiling!
Fighting in the same category as Mary Kom, the Telangana based boxer did not have it easy. It is only after Mary Kom’s career took a backseat that Zareen shone brightly as India’s new-found hope.
Sports has been Zareen’s calling from always. Before stepping into the world of boxing, the Nizamabad-born-girl was specialising in 100m and 200m sprints. However, a stopover to a boxing arena of a sports complex changed everything for her. Challenging the notion of ‘Boxing mardo ka khel hai’, Zareen broke into the scene at the age of 13. 6 months into the business, Zareen was already winning medals.
She first won the State Championship gold in 2010 and in the following year, at the age of 14 in 2011, she became the World Youth Boxing Champion. But it wasn’t easy when she started off her journey as a senior boxer after winning her maiden senior national title in 2016. Being in the same weight category (52kg) as Mary Kom and an injury in 2017 did not help her cause at all. Many had written her off when she had to take a year’s break due to the shoulder injury. But, determined to go that extra mile, Zareen who won the bronze at 2019 Asia Championship silenced her critics by becoming only the 5th woman to win the World Championship on May 19, 2022.
