Gerard Pique's investment group Kosmos Tennis has filed a multimillion-dollar lawsuit against the International Tennis Federation for ending their partnership to organize the Davis Cup. The suit has been filed at the Court of Arbitration for Sport and Kosmos has accused ITF of 'unjustified termination of contract.' ITF had earlier this month ended its 25-year-long partnership with Kosmos unilaterally without providing reasons behind the decision. It said it will run this year's Davis Cup on its own. As per local reports, ITF was also considering legal action against Kosmos for allegedly not meeting the payments that had been agreed upon between the parties. The former Barcelona player who retired in November 2022 had earlier pledged an investment of $3 billion during the 25-year partnership.

The BCCI announced the 5 franchises for the WPL on Wednesday, bagging a whopping ₹4669.99 CR for giving away the team ownership rights.
Sania, a tennis icon in India, is currently in Melbourne for the Australian Open. She reached the final of the mixed doubles event in her farewell Grand Slam.
Speaking to the press after her semi-final triumph alongside compatriot Rohan Bopanna, Sania said tournaments like WPL will help encourage young girls to take up sports as a viable career.
"It's obviously great. We're on the way up. I think it's amazing to have women. Obviously, we've had so many male cricket stars from our side of the world. To have women stars as well is something, that's the way forward really. It's good to know. I had no idea that happened actually. I'm pleasantly surprised. We have some huge stars in women's cricket now as well who are carrying that torch," she said.
She added, "I think we've spoken about this so much, about taking women's sport forward, especially in our part of the world where we still I don't think sport is the most natural course of a career that they choose, young girls, right, especially parents. It's amazing maybe this kind of stuff helps parents also encourage their young girls to take sport as a career. It's not just, Oh, my God, what are you doing going and playing like boys sort of situation. You can actually say you're playing like a girl."

As per reports, the protesting wrestlers consider the London Olympics bronze medallist Yogeshwar Dutt, one of the members of the committee, close to the WFI president.
Wrestler Bajrang Punia, however, later clarified that while the grapplers wanted a member of their choice on the committee, they don't have an issue with Yogeshwar. They expected to be consulted before the members were finalised, he added.

Wrestling Federation of India president Brijbhushan Sharan Singh has spoken against the sexual harassment charges levelled against him by top Indian female wrestlers Vinesh Phogat and Sakshi Malik.
The WFI chief said that he was never approached by any wrestler with the complaint. 'Sexual harassment is a big allegation and I am ready for an investigation,' he added.
'There has been no incident of sexual harassment. If proven guilty, then I will hang myself,' Brijbhushan Sharan Singh further stated.

Hockey India president Dilip Tirkey has been vocal about his disappointment over the Indian team's early exit from the Hockey World Cup 2023.
He once again expressed his concern over the hockey team and said that he will ask the coaches and senior players why the hunger to win was missing.&nbsp;
In an interaction with the Times of India, Tirkey said that when the team know that goal difference was very important in the league stage, they should have gone for it but he couldn't see that.
'We missed so many chances to win the crossover game as well. So, that's what I mean by the hunger missing,' he added.
