'The greatest ever' - World reacts to Roger Federer's retirement

Robert Federer, arguably the greatest player to grace the sport of Tennis has called it quits. The Swiss Maestro has called time on his illustrious career as he plans to hang up his boots after next week's Laver Cup in London.

His legacy is an inspiration to many, and the world came together to laud the 20-time Grand Slam Champion. From our very own sporting icons, Virat Kohli and Sania Mirza to international tennis legends like Rafael Nadal and Andy Roddick , tributes flooded from all corners as they congratulated Federer on his glorious career.

Virat Kohli commented on Roger's Instagram post 'The greatest of all time. King Roger.', he wrote.

'Will tennis ever be the same?', Sania Mirza wrote on her Instagram story as she posted a picture of her with the Swiss ace.

Former World No. 1 Andy Roddick too took to Twitter to congratulate the Tennis legend and said, 'Cheers Roger. Thanks for the shared memories my friend. It was an honor to share time and experiences on the most hallowed grounds in our sport. Don’t be a stranger'.

But the most heartfelt message was posted by his Spanish rival Rafael Nadal who has shared the court with him on many occasions,' Dear Roger, my friend and rival. I wished this day would have never come... it's a sad day for me personally and for sports people around the world' wrote the Spaniard on his Instagram story.
