Russian Grandmaster Garry Kasparov heaps praises on chess world cup finalist R Praggnanandhaa

Russian Grandmaster Garry Kasparov has become the latest from world chess to heap praises on Indian prodigy R Praggnanandhaa, who has made it to the finals of the ongoing chess World Cup.

The former world chess champion took to X, formerly Twitter, to congratulate the teenager, 'Congrats to @rpragchess—and to his mother. As someone whose proud mama accompanied me to every event, it's a special kind of support! The Chennai Indian defeated two New York cowboys! He has been very tenacious in difficult positions.'

R Praggnanandhaa scripted history when he advanced to the finals on August 21 after defeating World No. 3 Fabiano Caruana at the FIDE World Cup.

He defeated compatriot Arjun Erigiasi as well as world no. 2 Hikaru Nakamura enroute to the summit clash where he will battle five-time title winner Magnus Carlsen.
