Rohan Bopanna: 43-year-old Indian becomes oldest player to reach Grand Slam final in Open era | US Open

India's Rohan Bopanna and his partner from Australia, Matthew Ebden, continued their remarkable journey at the US Open, securing a spot in the final after defeating the French duo of Pierre-Hugues Herbert and Nicolas Mahut in straight sets.

The victory marks Bopanna's second appearance in a Grand Slam men's doubles final.

The Indo-Australian sixth-seeded pair exhibited exceptional skill, clinching victory with scores of 7-6 (7-3) and 6-2. The duo had previously reached the Wimbledon semifinals earlier this year.

With the victory in New York, Rohan Bopanna, who's 43 years and 6 months old, made history by becoming the oldest player to reach a Grand Slam final in the Open era. He surpassed the record previously held by Canada's Daniel Nestor, who reached a Major final at the age of 43 years and 4 months.

Interestingly, Bopanna's journey to his maiden Major final in 2010, alongside his then partner, Pakistan's Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi, also took place at the US Open.

The final match will see Bopanna and Ebden facing the winners of the other semifinal, which features the American duo of Rajeev Ram and Joe Salisbury against the Croatian-American pair of Ivan Dodig and Austin Krajicek at the Louis Armstrong stadium.

While Bopanna and Ebden continue their impressive doubles run, Rohan Bopanna is out of the mixed doubles event after a second-round defeat alongside his Indonesian partner, Aldila Sutjiadi.
