Roger Federer - The Undisputed King of Tennis

The Swiss Maestro!

A backhand that felt like poetry in motion. A forehand to stun his opponents from anywhere in the court. And a smile to leave one and all floored with his charm! Roger Federer is truly an emotion in the tennis world!

The man who made people fall in love with Tennis with just his grace has finally decided to bid his beloved sport goodbye.

Having scaled peaks one after the other, dominating sport like no other player before him, he leaves tennis poorer despite not being actively involved for the past few years.

Rafael Nadal & Novak Djokovic may both be ahead of him in the all-time Grand Slam count, but in terms of popularity, Federer remains the undisputed No. 1.

The 41-year-old will bow out as one of Tennis’ greatest ever. There’s little doubt over the class he oozed on the court but even his numbers are extraordinary.

He won 103 ATP singles titles, the second-most of all time after Jimmy Connors. He was ranked World No. 1 for a total of 310 weeks, including a record 237 consecutive weeks. That’s more than 4.5 years, such was the domination. He finished the year-end No. 1 on 5 occasions as well.

His retirement marks the beginning of the end of the most glorious era in men’s tennis history.

Between Federer, Rafael Nadal & Novak Djokovic, the Big Three as they are called, have won 63 majors till date. And now, only time will tell how many more we’ll see from the two that remain.

The world of tennis was only just recovering from Serena Williams’ adieu, and now surely, Federer’s final tournament, the Laver Cup, will bring in a whirlwind of emotions from all across the tennis fraternity.

For it’s Farewell, King Roger! The world, the fans, and the sport can only thank you for the wonderful memories.
