Red Bull Racing design chief Adrian Newey to exit team over Christian Horner controversy: report

Adrian Newey, the Chief Technical Officer of Formula 1 team Red Bull Racing, is likely to announce his exit from the group soon following the controversy around the Christian Horner allegations.

Earlier this year, Horner was accused by a female employee of Red Bull of sexual harassment as well as coercive behaviour.

An independent investigation cleared Horner of the allegations however, several reports have claimed that all's not well in the Red Bull camp.

Now, it has been confirmed by BBC that Adrian Newey no longer wishes to stay with Red Bull and has reportedly conveyed his intention to the team. Newey joined RBR in 2006.

Newey's Red Bull contract is till 2025 but it is believed that the design chief can negotiate an exit that will let him move to another team next season.

Newey's desire to switch was first reported by Germany's Auto Motor und Sport but the BBC report stated that the organisation independently verified these claims and believe them to be true.

The 65-year-old's next destination is not known yet but rumours have been rife that after Lewis Hamilton, Newey too will make a move to the famed Prancing Horse garage.
