While India's javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra has been the highlight after winning a silver medal at World Athletics Championships 2022, it was unfortunate for Pakistan's Arshad Nadeem as he missed a podium finish at a world event once again.
Nadeem finished fifth with an 86.16m throw in Oregon. Notably, the Pakistani athlete also came 5th in the Tokyo Olympics in 2020. 
Neeraj revealed that he spoke to Nadeem after the competition and congratulated him for a great throw in the final.
In a press conference, Neeraj said that Nadeem told him that he had issues with his elbow in the final. 
The Olympic gold medalist further said that he congratulated the South Asian Games champion for a great throw as it was a great comeback from his injury and it was commendable that he threw the javelin over 86 metres.
Interestingly, Neeraj and Arshad both finished on the podium at Asian Games, Jakarta in 2018. While Neeraj won the gold, the 25-year-old Pakistani Olympian won the bronze medal in the continental event. 
Neeraj and Arshad both are set to take part in the upcoming Commonwealth Games starting July 28.

Due to the weather conditions in Oregon, where the finals of the World Athletics Championships were being held, Chopra revealed he was facing issues. After a fowl first throw, Chopra, kept getting better in his 2nd and 3rd attempt with 82.39 and 86.37m. Conquering the challenges, Chopra finally aced with an 88.13m throw in the fourth attempt that helped him clinch India's only 2nd medal in the history of the marquee tournament. Speaking about it, Chopra, in the post-match presentation said that while he feels very good to win the silver medal, the conditions were a little bit challenging for him because of the wind. However, he said that he learned something new that he would use in the competitions in the future.

However, the Haryana-based athlete added that 2 players cannot be compared as every competition is a different challenge for different players. 'I think 2 players should not be compared and Peters was good he able to manage it, but it was a tough competition and it was a good comeback'.

A judge in Russia on Thursday convicted and sentenced American basketball star Brittney Griner to nine years in prison for drug possession and smuggling.
Judge Anna Sotnikova said that all the evidence and materials presented during the trial led the court to conclude that Griner's guilt "is proven." Apart from the jail term, the 31-year-old was also fined around $16,400.
Griner, a two-time U.S. Olympic champion and an eight-time all-star with the WNBA’s Phoenix Mercury, listened with a blank expression as an interpreter translated the verdict.
Earlier in the session, an emotional Griner made a final appeal and said that she had no intention to break the law by bringing vape cartridges with cannabis oil when she flew to Moscow in February to play basketball in the city of Yekaterinburg
The ruling concluded a case that reached the highest levels of U.S.-Russian diplomacy and raised concerns that Griner was being used as a political pawn in Russia's war against Ukraine.

A judge in Russia on Thursday convicted and sentenced American basketball star Brittney Griner to nine years in prison for drug possession and smuggling.
Judge Anna Sotnikova said that all the evidence and materials presented during the trial led the court to conclude that Griner's guilt "is proven." Apart from the jail term, the 31-year-old was also fined around $16,400.
Griner, a two-time U.S. Olympic champion and an eight-time all-star with the WNBA&rsquo;s Phoenix Mercury, listened with a blank expression as an interpreter translated the verdict.
Earlier in the session, an emotional Griner made a final appeal and said that she had no intention to break the law by bringing vape cartridges with cannabis oil when she flew to Moscow in February to play basketball in the city of Yekaterinburg
The ruling concluded a case that reached the highest levels of U.S.-Russian diplomacy and raised concerns that Griner was being used as a political pawn in Russia's war against Ukraine.

The 44th Chess Olympiad is currently under way in Chennai and various districts to Tamil Nadu have been promoting the tournament in their own unique way.

The video was first shared by Tamil Nadu chief minister MK Stalin on July 27th and he wrote that the video featured classical, folk, Mal Yutham and Silambam artists.
It has also received praise by businessman Anand Mahindra who praised the officials for bringing chess to life. 
The video has now gone viral with people praising the Pudukkottai district administration for depicting Indian tradition and culture. 
The 44th Chess Olympiad was inaugurated by the Prime Minister last week and it will go on till August 10.
