Protestors demand Beijing Olympic boycott following claims of human rights abuses

A diverse group of protestors, united in their opposition to the Chinese Communist Party, met in San Francisco to urge a full boycott of next year's Winter Olympics in Beijing due to claims of ongoing human rights abuses.

Groups supporting Tibetans, Uyghurs and Hong Kongers first gathered outside the offices of NBC Sports and delivered a petition urging the network not to broadcast the games in China, saying the international sporting event will be used as propaganda for the Chinese government.

Afterwards, more than one hundred protestors marched to the Chinese Consulate in San Francisco to continue their day of action on International Human Rights Day.

Several countries, including the US, Great Britain and Canada, have said they won't send government dignitaries to the games, which run in February, to protest human rights abuses in China. Under the diplomatic boycott, the countries will still send their athletes to compete.
