Novak Djokovic to play at 2023 Australian Open?

Reiterating his 'right to choice' with respect to the Covid-19 vaccines, Djokovic said, 'things will soon return to normal and vaccination will not be a mandatory requirement to compete in tournaments'.

Tennis superstar Novak Djokovic might return to play in Melbourne after the last year's drama over his vaccination status. The 21-time Grand Slam champion in an interview with Tennis World gave an affirmative reply when he was asked about playing in the 2023 edition of the Australian Open.

The Serbian ace said, 'as for Australia, there are some positive signs but not official ones'. He further informed that his lawyers in Australia were communicating with the authorities who are dealing the former World No. 1's case.

The 35-year-old, who has won 9 Slams in Melbourne, was deported from Australia in January, this year due to his unvaccinated status. Reiterating his 'right to choice' with respect to the Covid-19 vaccines, Djoko said, 'things will soon return to normal and vaccination will not be a mandatory requirement to compete in tournaments'.

Because of his unvaccinated status, the Tennis star also withdrew from US Open earlier this year.
