'No vaccination required', Novak Djokovic can participate in Wimbledon

The 20-time-Grand Slam champion could not defend his Australian Open title after he was deported due to his vaccination status for Covid-19.

World No. 1 Tennis player Novak Djokovic will get to defend his title at the Wimbledon this year despite being unvaccinated for Covid-19 as vaccination has not been made mandatory to enter Britain.

Confirming the development during the annual spring briefing ahead of Wimbledon, All England club chief Sally Bolton said that although it is encouraged that all players get vaccinated, it will not be a condition for entry to compete. The 20-time-Grand Slam champion could not defend his Australian Open title after he was deported due to his vaccination status for Covid-19. He also sat out of the Indian Wells and Miami Open since the United States does not allow entry to unvaccinated foreigners.

Djokovic will also participate in the French Open which is set to begin on the 22nd of May. The Wimbledon begins on 27 June 2022.
