Neeraj Chopra eyes another historic feat at Diamond League finale

India's Golden boy, Neeraj Chopra, will be chasing history when he takes a shot at becoming the Diamond League Champion on Thursday.

Neeraj, who will start his event as the hot favourite, qualified for the final of the prestigious event in Zurich after winning the Lausanne leg of the Diamond League.

After missing the Commonwealth Games due to a groin injury, the Tokyo Olympics gold medallist made a spectacular return at Lausanne Diamond League meet in August.

The 24-year-old India's young gun who apparently admitted that he didn't play his best, finished top with his first throw of 89.09m, becoming the first-ever Indian to clinch a Diamond meet title.

The Haryana-based athlete who will be eyeing his maiden Diamond League title had also entered the finals in 2017 and 2018, where he finished 7th and 4th respectively.

In 2022 alone, the star Javelin thrower won silver at Paavo Nurmi Games, followed by gold at the Kuortane Games, he finished 2nd in the Stockholm leg of Diamond League, won silver at World Championships, and then after a month-long injury lay-off won the Lausanne Diamond League as well.

PRIZE FOR DIAMOND LEAGUE?

The winner of each Diamond discipline at the Final will be awarded a Diamond Trophy, USD 30,000 prize money and a wild card for the 2023 World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary.

WHEN IS THE DIAMOND LEAGUE FINAL?

Neeraj Chopra's javelin throw event at the Diamond League is scheduled for Thursday at 11.50 PM IST.

WHERE IS THE DIAMOND LEAGUE EVENT HAPPENING?

The Grand finale of the Diamond League will be held in Zurich, Germany at Letzigrund Stadium.

WHERE TO WATCH?

Diamond League 2022, Grand Final will be telecast live on Sports 18 channels. Live streaming will be available on Voot Select (subscription required). Day 1 live coverage starts at 9:00 PM IST onwards; Day 2 at 10:30 PM IST onwards.
